| Personal History | John Sheridan is mostly a simple-minded guy, he's not hard to deal with unless you offend him which considering people do offend him quite often. John Sheridan was born in 2357 and his childhood was a good and happy one, he lived on several Federation worlds while growing up and he was a generally happy and well-adjusted child. He was also the youngest of four brothers and he followed his brothers into Starfleet, two of them enlisted so they could be able to fight the Borg and the Klingon's in the early seventies. John meanwhile went off to the academy at age seventeen and he graduated early because of the Dominion War in late 2375, he was still a cadet and earned a field commission of Ensign while participating during the battle of the Three Suns, he also went on to fight at Getha and Cardassia, the final half dozen fights where the war with the Dominion ended. He was assigned to the USS Cyclops where he elected to go back to school as his education was incomplete, most wouldn't have bothered whereas Sheridan decided he would do so. This earned him the respect of many of his naysayers. Also at the same time, he met a woman named Ruriko Tanaka, their romance was a slow and gradual thing with them getting married a year later. Two years after the end of the war with the Dominion, now a fully blown officer, after doing online studies, he was assigned to the USS Zeus as a security officer, doing assignments for the CSI's aboard ship and helping out where needed. Also, he went back to school, more online courses for CSI work and he eventually became a CSI level Three but he didn't get many chances to show he was capable of much, the ship he was on was unusually peaceful. He was then sent to the USS Trafalgar to work with Captain Karl Reyes as his Chief of Security. After several years on the USS Trafalgar, before he was requested to clean out the USS Silent Song where he found a drug den instead of a Federation ship and he would quickly find himself spending all of his time here, cleaning this ship out, starting from the bottom of the roster until he was able to track down the sources. Unfortunately, his wife was murdered with a massive drug overdose in an effort to silence and intimidate him, it provoked exactly the opposite reaction. It didn't help that Sheridan was locking horns with the Security Chief and the Captain, sometimes both at the same time, this was the assignment was where he earned his nickname of 'Nuke Em'. In the end, however, Sheridan was successful in cleaning this ship out. Two officers were responsible for the issues that this ship suffered. One was the Executive Officer who was heavily indebted to the Orion Syndicate, Sheridan arrested him but the other officer, the Chief Counselor committed suicide when she was outed as a drug dealer, after this series of events. Sheridan was able to finish his assignment after the Captain was finally convinced that Sheridan was not his enemy and while the two men parted as friends, Sheridan decided it was time for him to move on from the Silent Song, once he was finished cleaning the ship out with almost eighty percent of the crew, dealing with the fallout. He was posted back to the USS Trafalgar as their Security Chief and while his assignment here was good and educational, while he was promoted to Lieutenant, he found his time deeply challenging as he found a man he would consider "One of the greatest Starfleet had ever produced.". Karl Reyes would consider John Sheridan as his finest student and his protégé. Lt Commander John Sheridan would assist in dealing with Al Bester, a serial murder was finally apprehended. Sheridan was also considered for the posting of the second officer which he got as a surprise, he expressed an interest in command and he spent time commanding bridge watches and even commanding the USS Trafalgar, where he was promoted to the rank of Commander to go along with the posting of the second officer, however, he still wore the yellow shirt rather than the redshirt. In 2390, his tour of duty finished on the USS Trafalgar and he stuck in for reassignment, he was assigned to the USS Roanoke as their deputy chief security officer. However, he was called in and his rank was adjusted to reflect his mission which was to clean out this den of inequity and sin but he would maintain his Commanders clearance and his Lieutenant's rank would be in name only. Sheridan has since remained assigned to the USS Roanoke, he has found this assignment to be something of a relief since he isn't in consideration for the posting of Executive Officer on a different ship. He has since encountered a wide variety of souls on this ship from the incompetent like Crewman Micky Bremer, to the indigent like his brother, Crewman Jimmy Bremer. He encountered a Bajoran woman whom he instantly didn't like on any level whatsoever because of her treatment of several women during a nudist protest, one Lt Commander Hakaya Vakar was arrested for indecent exposure and Sheridan instantly found himself coming in on the other side of the dispute, not with law and order but with chaos and disorder as he and most of the rest of the security personnel, walked off of the job for two days as a result of this. It was then that Sheridan realized that this would be one of the hardest assignments he would ever know, later he got into it with his new boss, one Lieutenant Bernice Gyce and the two forged an uneasy friendship which in the end would turn into a real friendship. In late June, Sheridan along with most of his guys was invited to the wedding for the Starfighter Wing CO, a woman named Phoenix and the Chief Medical Officer who was two-thirds of her size, Siaxx Dvald, the wedding was a Betazoid one to Sheridan's amusement. When the Aryssa situation got started with drugs getting into the hands of teenagers and children, Sheridan knew he would need to step up his game because when Fleet Admiral Yamaguchi found out about it, the sky would rain fire and he knew this so he decided to get back to work in hunting down his enemies and cleaning up this den of sin. To make matters worse, a few days after the wedding in early July, Ensign Elizabeth Yamaguchi was severally beaten by a fellow medical officer, what was even worse yet was the fact that Elizabeth was pregnant. During the Captain's mast, he found himself defending the women who committed the event as even the criminals deserve justice and the fact that she seemed to be truly remorseful on the event convinced him otherwise, he would have simply started the chapter paperwork and sent her to jail where at first he felt she belonged. Now that there are indications that children are dealing with drugs to other children, Sheridan has resolved to clean out this ship whatever it takes but in the end, however. Sheridan and his guys were able to deal with the drug situation before something went wrong in the hanger so John spent the better part of two days helping out in Main Engineering with damage control. It was a very different challenge than one he was used to but it was also one he relished and came to enjoy. His joy, however, would be short-lived when the accusation of sabotage came out. The rest of Sheridan's tenure on the USS Roanoke was a simple and quiet affair as he finished helping to complete his original assignment and when that was concluded he was offered an assignment on the USS Alaska as her Chief of Security, thus reverting back to his rank of Commander. He decided to accept and thus he bid Roanoke farewell, his assignment to Alaska would also be a short one as he was offered command of the Spirit of Winter and with that, he bade Alaska farewell too. Presently, John is enjoying the challenges of commanding his own ship and it's allowed him to adjust his personal style to meet these new challenges head-on. |
