Mission:
Mission 34: Between Two Fires
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 0800Hrs - June 24th, 2391
Senior Flight Captain Thomas Lasky smiled as he pulled the last piece of equipment onto his flight armor that he wore when he flew, everyone else wore more or less the same armor with attachments for gear when they went down.
Fives always carried a sidearm and a tricorder, he knew others carried different equipment when they flew. "Hey Foehammer. Whats the word?" he greeted his apprentice in a highly cheerful mood, he also spotted Elizabeth Yamaguchi who approached, walking beside her husband.
Flight Officer Kameron Yamaguchi smiled as he regarded his Wing Commander with something approaching affection. "Morning Bossman, Not much.. Elizabeth is adjusting to life being pregnant."
"Yes and she's alive and well. Despite reports to the contrary." Ensign Elizabeth Yamaguchi smiled as she approached. "So... Before you make this hop.... anyone wanna say a few words?"
"I figure if God can hear how scared I am, so can everyone else" Fives smiled before he and Kameron banged their helmet's together. "Hurah!" both men cheered.
Elizabeth smiled as she watched as both men turned and went over to their fighters before she turned her head ever so slightly. "Morning Phoenix." she greeted the older woman who was likewise wearing her flight gear, with a smile on her face.
"Hello Elizabeth," Phoenix greeted with a hint of nervousness.
"So... you ready for your wedding tomorrow?" Yamaguchi inquired. "People have been talking about it for weeks now but.." Elizabeth almost looked unhappy. "Rachael is angry... she can't be there."
"I'da liked her as my best mate," Phoenix agreed. "But I dunno if I can do this... What if it turns out that Siaxx an' I fight a lot?"
Elizabeth regarded the other woman. "I know you and I have not always been on the best of terms... but mind if I offer my perspective?"
Phoenix gave a gentle nod to prod the answer along.
"You and her are in a good place with your relationship. You have a cat and a Dog and sometimes you babysit Saki.... though we all know that kid is downright batshit insane.." the larger woman smiled. "Anyway... It was much the same for me and Kam. We had to figure out a lot of things very quickly in order to make our relationship work, as we also work together.... he listens to me and takes me seriously and I do the same.... so long as the two of you make your relationship work... then you'll be fine."
"I guess I can believe 'at," Phoenix agreed with a subtle nod.
"Have a little faith in Siaxx.. Jill... I had the same issue with Kameron... except you two eased into it where as I rushed into it."
Elizabeth explained. "You didn't make my mistake."
"We started as just lovers. I don' think that's takin' things slow," Jill laughed.
Elizabeth smiled. "Siaxx is not subtle." she replied. "On duty or off duty, she doesn't know the meaning of the word..." she added. "But then she is Bolian and I know she's been doing a lot of research into raising children recently."
"I wanna make her happy in 'at department if I can," Phoenix pledged wholeheartedly.
Elizabeth regarded the smaller woman before her. "Let Siaxx come to you about it... Or you can talk to her about it and you can settle it before the two of you."
"If only Aryssa could be here," Phoenix sighed. "Kid don' rightly think high of me at tha moment."
"Aryssa will always be Aryssa, she hates me too considering I came to your aid during that fight... She likes my mom more then anyone else, I mean she's not too hot on Rachael recently either." she paused. "It was something mom said to me... I dismissed it at the time... but I'm wondering.... Aryssa only wants to spend time helping out my mother." she regarded Phoenix. "It's been like that ever since you ended up getting stranded on that planet.." she sighed softly.
"I wanna reconnect with 'er but evertime I try she don' wanna. She's always makin' excuses. An' dinners at Tory's are barely civil in conversation... that is, if she can' find a reason ta skive off."
"I've noticed... I'm worried about her.." Elizabeth paused. "She seems to be getting worse with you, not better.... Mom and Dad noticed it too." she added.
"I don' wanna give up hope, but it feels like it's gettin' to 'at point," Phoenix spoke with a shaky voice.
Elizabeth regarded the older woman. "No... giving up is the last thing we wanna do." she sighed. "something is driving her.... is it her hatred of you... or something else?" she sighed. "I wish I knew... but getting her to talk about it just starts a fight." she sighed softly. "Somehow we'll make it right... but I don't wanna hold you up all day Phoenix.." she admitted. "I had best go check in."
