Mission: Mission 34: Between Two Fires
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1000Hrs - June 25th 2391

Stephen McKnight, better known as Orthos regarded his wife as she was lying on the bed. "You Okay Daisy?" he was presently sitting next to her in a chair.

"I don't want to sound like a smart ass but I'm getting ready to have a baby." she replied.

Sokanon almost purred at the Klingon hybrid. "Hello Major... Are you ready?" she purred softly at the other woman as Tienn smiled. "Well Daisy... we are prepared.. if you are."

"Can you give me a lot of drugs?" Daisy asked. "I want to take the cowards way out and be unconscious."

Orthos raised an eyebrow but he managed to stop himself from saying something stupid.

Tienn shook her head. "I could but it would be risky to the baby." she explained quietly. "I'm Sorry."

"Oh I don't like to hear that." Daisy replied, a little distressed. "Let's get this over with, please."

Orthos gently rubbed Daisy's shoulder with his right hand. "It'll be alright sweetie..." he said quietly. "At least we're together for this.."

Daisy tightly grabbed Orthos hand. "I'm a little afraid right now." She honestly told her husband.

Orthos nodded. "So am I..." he admitted to her. "But we're both together and we will get through this..." as he gently soothed her.

While Daisy appreciated Orthos' words she would like to have pointed out that he wasn't pushing the baby out of his body. She just smiled at Orthos. "I'm a Marine and a Klingon. I can do this." She stated out loud although to herself.

"You're also the one doing the work.." Orthos responded quietly. "But I'm still here.... and you can do this..." he smiled warmly at her. "and soon it'll be over... with our baby in your arms.."

Daisy smiled weakly. She then went back to the business of having the baby.

A fair amount of time later. Orthos regarded his wife. "Almost there... Just a little longer hon... almost there.."

Daisy gnashed her teeth as she gave the final few pushes. Her grunts were very loud.

Just then Tienn smiled as she gently assisted with the birthing of the infant. "I have him..." she explained as she cut the cord. "Your son... is now a separate being." she added a moment later

A look of relief came over Daisy's face. The color seemed to return to her face. "Let me hold him." She weakly asked.

Tienn gently wrapped the baby in a small cloth blanket as she gently handed the small boy to his mother. "Here you go hon.."

Orthos watched as he gently rubbed her shoulders with his hands. "Nice job Daisy..."

Daisy smiled at her son then looked up at Orthos. "Would you like to hold our son?"

Orthos smiled. "Please.." he responded softly as he received his son. "Hello little guy... welcome to the world."

"So what is our son's name?" Daisy asked in a voice barely above a whisper.

Orthos thought about it. "Y'know... I never considered it..." he paused. "Edward.... How does that sound to you?" he asked his wife.

Daisy nodded. "Sounds good, now we have something to put on his birth certificate.

Tienn smiled. "I'll see to it." the small Bajoran woman responded. "Aww... he's beautiful. " she added

Orthos gently handed his newest child back to his mother as the baby screamed at the top of his small lungs. "Thats normal... He'll be alright." Orthos explained with a smile.
