Saki Yamaguchi crawled through the crawlspaces as she approached a hatch, she gently reached for it as she gently slid it off the wall, the small child looked around as she slowly climbed out of the Jefferies tube.

The child looked around as she spotted a small woman lying on the sofa, she noticed the two sets of spots as she frowned before she gently tapped one of the spots, thinking they were not real. "Mmm..."

Saki turned her attention to the bottle that looked half-empty, she sniffed at it as she winced. "Eww..." as she turned her attention back to the sleeping woman.

Saki moved so she was standing over the top of the other woman. "Whats with the spots?"

Suddenly the other womans eyes popped open as Saki jumped back. "Crap!" she paused as she looked around for an escape as she moved backwards.

"Ahhh," Zara exclaimed from a hangover that did not like loud outbursts.

Saki backed up against the wall. "Don't hurt me!" she whimpered. "I hate this.... ship.." her eyes radiating the terror she felt at that moment.

Meanwhile elsewhere three separate Yamaguchi's all heard the distress call as they all quickly departed from what it was they were doing. Elizabeth in sickbay heard it as she looked at Sokanon. "My niece is calling. I gotta run." and with that she fled sickbay.

Torilla Yamaguchi meanwhile was in her quarters as she was playing with Tressa and Nix. She heard the call too but she didn't go as she knew her daughters would handle it.

Meanwhile Rachael was in a turbolift heading towards deck ten when she felt it. "Turbolift, override the previous destination. new destination... main bridge."

Meanwhile Saki was feeling like a trapped animal. "Don't.... don't come... any closer.." the child whimpered.

"Please bring it down twelve decibels," Zara pleaded as she held her head while she tried to navigate over to her replicator for a huge class of cold water.

Saki cowered in a corner as she sought an exit but the Jefferies tube was about half way between her and the strange woman. "Umm.... don't hurt me..." she whimpered softly as she looked at the exit almost longingly.

"Why would I hurt you?" Zara asked in true confusion as she took her water from the replicator and strategically, but casually sat down in front of the door to the tubes. "You haven't broken anything, so we're good."

Saki's fear had not gone away as she now realized that she was well and truly boxed in. "Who are you?" Saki asked.

"Captain Zara Tane," Zara answered after she drank a large amount of water. "And you're Saki. Firebird's kid."

Saki blinked, the title meant nothing to her. "Oh... so the spots are real then...?"

"They are... I'm a Trill," Zara spoke and pulled the sleeves of her arm up. "Touch them. Doesn't hurt."

Saki slowly came over, still in the mindset of a trapped animal as she gently touched the smaller womans arms. "Cool..."

"My people think we were once a similar race as that of feline friends," Tane went on to explain before she took another big swig of water. "Mostly because of our agile reflexes, our ability to purr when we are truly happy, and the fact that our spots can sometimes act as low sensory."

Saki regarded the strange woman before her. "How does someone purr?" she inquired out of curiosity.

"I honestly don't know," Zara laughed wholeheartedly. "It's something you have to be born with. Like you're born with your mother's gift. It can't be taught to me. Nor my abilities to you."

Saki wasn't expecting the laugh nor was she expecting the smaller woman to be almost happy. "Ahh..." the child paused as she quickly looked around the room, it was obvious what she wanted, a way out.

"Hey..." Zara's voice softened as she looked at the girl's reaction. "This is my ship, kid. So that means your safety is important to me."

Saki took a deep breathe, then she let it out slowly before taking another. "Oh?" the child paused. "Its too quiet... I can't find anywhere noisy so I can feel safe from predators.."

"The only wildlife we have here, is in the arboretum," Zara answered honestly. "I'm sorry the quietness upsets you, regardless."

Saki sighed as she sat down on the ground. "This ship is... so strange.." and with that the child yawned. "Mind if I sit here awhile?" she inquired

"You can sit as long as you like, Kid." Zara smiled at the girl and downed more water.

Saki went over to the sofa as she sat down, before kicking off her shoes, within moments she curled up on the sofa and was fast asleep.

About a minute later after Saki fell asleep, the door beeped at Zara. The Trill quietly opened the door with a finger over her lips.

"She's sleeping," Zara told her guest in a quiet tone.

Rachael regarded the older woman who was a friend of hers. "Ahh... I heard her distress.... is she a bother?" she inquired softly.

"She probably thought I was a predator, given my spots," Zara admitted with a humored grin, then moved out of the way to Rachael could get Saki.

Rachael regarded Tane, a soft smile playing at her lips. "Ahh alright..." as she reached out to touch her daughter on the shoulder, Saki moaned softly as she smiled in her sleep. "Is she in your way sir?"

"Nah," Zara brushed aside. "She can't seem to relax in the more quieter areas of ship though."

"She's been having issues sleeping recently... she can't adjust to the ship.." Rachael said quietly. "I felt her distress.." just then the door beeped a second time. "I think thats Elizabeth." Rachael commented as she turned to face the door.

"It's open," Zara called to the door.

Sure enough, it was Elizabeth. "Guys...where is she?"

"Its alright Beth." Rachael responded. "She's asleep and she's right there." Rachael indicated the sofa were a small child lay, fast asleep.

Beth slowly smiled. "Alright...I'll leave you guys to chat..." and with that she turned and departed, back into the turbolift and was gone from sight.

Rachael gently perched herself on the chair next to her sleeping daughter before she gently woke her. "Mom." Saki greeted her softly.

'Mom'. The appellation meant she had must to learn and to do still as Rachael smiled. "Its okay sweetie..."

"I'm Sorry..."

"Shhh.." Rachael gently soothed her child. "It'll be alright.. but what happened with Varkon?" the taller woman inquired. "Y'Know the rock dude... he would not have harmed you."

"He scared me." and there it was. "From your perspective sweetie. a lot of people on this ship will look strange, with strange customs and odd way of doing things... take for example... Captain Tane here."

Saki blinked her eyes as she slowly sat up. "She's not like me.."

"No... she's different from us.. But that doesn't make her any less significant or any less special." Rachael explained. "Everyone aboard this ship is special within his or her own right, from four dozen different planets... We have some real exotic people... like Varkon, down to basic humans who look like you and me, but they are not from Earth... because we're not from Earth."

"Earth... never heard of it.."

"It's a dull place," Tane winked to the kid. "Capital of the Federation."

"Sounds boring." Saki commented as she yawned, displaying a full set of teeth. "Do I have to obey a billion stupid rules like keep off the grass?" she inquired.

"If we visit places that say that, yes," Zara answered with a humored grin.

Saki sighed. "Lovely."

"You don't have to go to those boring places if you don't want to, Saki," Zara promised. "I unfortunately will have to, since I run the ship."

Saki nodded her head. "Alright..." she paused. "Mom... this place is comfy.... Mind if I stay here awhile?"

Rachael raised an eyebrow. "This is Captain Tane's personal space...Not yours sweetie."

Saki sighed. "Okay..."

"You can some here and curl up on the sofa, so long as you clear it with your mom and you ask me," Zara agreed. "Sometimes I've big adult matters though, where you cannot be in here. So you knock on my door first. Yes?"

The smaller Yamaguchi looked up at Tane as the child nodded her head. "Okay.." she paused. "How do I get out of here.... this ship is so strange, all the hallways and spaces look alike... how do you guys find your way around?"

Zara pointed to the wall panel strip. "Put your hand on it to light it up, or ask the computer how to find where it is you need to go. It'll light up a path for you."

Saki paused. "Oh..." she slowly smiled. "so I tap that and ask where to go.." she reached up and she tapped it. "Where is the holodeck?"

"the closest holodeck is holodeck four, located on deck seven, section eleven." and with that, it began showing her the way. "Cool." Saki said quietly.

"Always let your mom know where you go. This ship is big. So we don't want you getting lost," Zara noted with concern.

Rachael regarded her daughter. "It can take me hours to find you, you are not in the system yet... so we need to get that sorted out.... then we'll go to the holodeck." she regarded Zara. "Thank you sir... for finding her for me."

Saki merely nodded her head.

"Oh it's no problem," Zara smiled and looked down to Saki. "Try not to get into too much trouble."

Mother and child shared a look. "Come on Saki... we're off to see the Ops guys. Then we're off to the holodeck.."

"Yay!" the child responded as she hopped off the sofa.

"You two have fun," Zara waved them off with a huge grin.
