Mission:
Mission 21: The Breen
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke / USS Tranquility / USS Ashes of Winter
Timeline: 0930Hrs - January 1st, 2391
Several Breen where moving down the hallway when the lights suddenly went completely out. Immediately the Breen troopers became alert, but to little use. Four rounds flew, and four Breen went down, and Teval and Hakaya approached the dead Breen patrol, making sure that they where dead. Moving quickly, they, Aerin, Karryn and Fordring moved on, nearing the turbolift shaft that would take them to the hangar pod.
Teval knew that they would have to climb, since all the turbo lifts where dead. Hearing movement nearby, he gave an involuntary reaction, but quickly realized that it was just Zarloos and Wukari.
Fordring crept forward as he brought up the rear. "Trouble?" he inquired softly, the three rifles he was carrying jostled ever so softly against his back, He had two of the pistol sidearms in each hand as he took one large step to the left, to present good clearance to the front and to the back.
Teval put his hand up, as Wukari said," Hey guys, its just us."
"Yeah I figured that much out," Teval commented. "So how are you two holding up."
Fordring raised an eyebrow. "Guys.. we got trouble.." he commented softly. "round the corner... leave me here.." he commented as he put away the pistols before he plucked the rifles from his back.
He took a moment to prepare as he took aim, then he threw the first rifle down the hallway, it speared one of the Breen through its chest cavity, part of this was achieved through skill but the vast majority was timing and luck.
Fordring grinned as a moment after he threw his first, he threw his second, it impacted the second Breen on his head. "Well... that was not what I was expecting..."
Hakaya commented jokingly," Fordring, your supposed to shoot people with those, not throw them."
"That... should not have worked..." the massive man shrugged his shoulders, before brushing his dreadlocks out of his eyes.
Teval didn't think too much on the matter, instead just saying to Zarloos, "So how are you two holding up."
Zarloos blinked his large eyes. "The Breen have only tried attacking us once.." he commented.
Teval looked at Karryn, knowing that with her being pregnant, it was too much risk to put her in a fighter, looking back at Zarloos, he said," How much do you know about flying scorpion class fighters."
"I know enough to move them around the hanger" Zarloos answered honestly. "Why..?.... Oh no..."
Teval nodded," Good enough, you have just volunteered for fighter duty, lets go to the hangar."
"You have lost your sanity." Zarloos responded. "Ahh what the hell... lets do this.." he responded. "Whats your plan?"
Teval explained as the group began to climb, "Well, six of the scorpions are fitted to fire heavy quantum's so we are going to use the transporters on the delta flyers, to beam a torpedo into the Breen's shield generator. When it bows, we will take as many scorpions as we can loaded with heavy quantum's, ease them out of the hangar bay just enough for us to get a clear shot, and let loose with our heavy quantums. Both Karryn and Aerin know how to operate the heavy quantum weapons, so all you need to do is move the fighter without crashing."
"That's easy enough. I move these things all the time..." Zarloos responded. "I think I can fly her in combat..." he paused. "maybe I should say fuck it and go become a pilot.. assuming we live of course."
Zarloos commented as he climbed the turboshaft.
Fordring was climbing at the back of the pile. "If they beam over here while you kill their home ship... I will be happy..." his voice drifted up the shaft to Teval and the others.
"Well, hopefully, Siaxx doesn't try and blow up the ship and ruin your fun," Teval replied dryly.
"Wait... Siaxx what?" Fordring responded quickly. "Well... I guess there's nothing for it... onward!"
Teval nodded," The captain gave Siaxx the order that if things get too bad, then she needed to self destruct the ship, and knowing her, she has a tenancy to not think things through or exhaust every possible alternative."
The group made it up into to hangar pod, to find multiple surprised Breen up in the hangar, attempting to pillage the place. Teval and Hakaya wasted no time in opening fire, with Karryn and Aerin following shortly after. The firefight didn't last 30 seconds as the group caught the Breen by surprised, but the Breen did managed to return fire, one round grazing Teval in the side. Another grazed Hakaya in the thigh.
Fordring drew his sidearms as he helped to shoot down the Breen, he wanted to walk over and smash the Breen's head flat into the deck but rather he went over to Teval. "You okay?"
Teval looked down where he got hit, as blood began to drip to the floor, and started to stain his fur, being particulary noticeabe on his white fur. The phased polaron weapons where designed to make their victims bleed, and this was not his first time getting hit by them. He really hated those weapons. Looking up at fordring, he commented," I'll be fine, lets get moving."
"What about you?" he asked Hakaya before he turned to Zarloos. "Alright.. lets take these guys to the aid station... "
Zarloos shook his head. "No time.." he commented softly.
Hakaya examined her own wound, She could tel it wasn't too bad, the weapon only grazed her lightly, but still enough that she would make a mess everywhere. Deciding to agree with Zarloo's she said," No lets get this done."
It was then that whitetail, whom so far seemed uninfected showed up, holding a phaser rifle. Teval didn't wait to ask," Hey chief, we need to load up some scorpions with heavy quantum's, how quick can it be done."
Whitetail pointed," Well, we where going to do some ordinance tests with heavy quantum's when the virus hit and no one really put the weapons away. Ive got one bird fully loaded, ready to go, another needs fuel, but has ordinance, a third just needs ordinance, the missiles are sitting next to it."
Teval nodded," Good, we need a delta flyer as well."
"On it," Whitetail commented and the crew went to work.
Aerin and Zarloos took one fighter, while Wukari and Karryn took the delta flyer. Teval and Hakaya took the second fighter, which Whitetail and Fordring quickly got fueled and ready to go.
"Ready," Teval asked Fordring, starting to feel a little lightheaded.
"Yeah Teval. "We're good to go.." he paused. "you don't look all that good.." he turned. "I'll take out the third bird... I've never flown in combat but hell... It'll make a nice story to share with Galiaan"
Teval nodded, not noticing that he was starting to bleed more heavily. Hakaya also failed to notice her own worsening injury as she was to worried about her brother.
"Alright... we good to go guys?" Fordring inquired. "I need a second guy for the bird I'm flying... "
Teval shrugged," yep, I'm a sucky pilot, but I am good to go, as he closed the cockpit canopy, and whitetail then commented," Well big guy, I might as well join you. I've been working on hooking up the ordiance, so I know how to work the missiles."
Meanwhile Karryn and Wukari brought the AWAC's flyer online, and activated the fighters ECM, jamming all sensors in the hangar area and preventing the breen from detecting the fighters powering up. Despite her hands being injured, Wukari was still able to maneuver the flyer quite effectively. Waiting until the cockpits of the other fighters where sealed, wukari got the hangar doors to open, and fortunately, the forcefield system was working.
Easing the flyer until it was just outside the hangar, Karryn said to the other pilots, "Hey the breen ship is off the front of the roanoke, just sitting there, its an easy target."
Wukari nodded to Karryn, and karryn hit a few commands on her control console, beaming a heavy quantum into the shield generator room. Then suddenly, the breen ship began moving, turning around and going away from the Roanoke.
Aerin flew his fighter out first, with Teval shakily bringing his own fighter out next. "What the hell," Aerin commented.
Karryn looked at the sensors," Wait, I see it, another ship is coming, its the Tranquility."
Teval gritted his teeth, more in pain than anything else, he knew the tranquility was not well armed. Then the torpedo exploded, sending the breen ship spiraling. "Let them have it," Teval yelled over the comm channel as he launched all four of his heavy quantum's.
Both other fighters did the same, the breen ship activated some kind of point defense weapon that shot down six of the heavy quantums, but the remaining six found their mark, crippling the breen ship. Teval watched with satisfaction as the Tranquility arrived just in time.
There was another flash of light as another Federation ship appeared but Ashes of Winter was too far to make any serious difference.
The agile medical ship that was the Tranquility, zoomed in and fired rapidly with her front, dual-fire pulse phasers. Full spread and did enough damage to finish the job that was initially started.
A channel was opened which quickly sounded out Olmos' voice. "USS Roanoke. This is the Tranquility. Do you require assistance?"
Teval, feeling lightheaded, hit the comm system," Tranquility, this is commander Teval, The ships main computer system is down as is the comm system, the plauge, whatever it is has disabled the vast majority of the crew."
"I'll send over teams in hazmat suits then. We'll get you all up and running, Commander," Olmos promised.
"Yeah, that's, great," Teval replied, closing the comm channel, and suddenly feeling very lightheaded.
"Teval", Hakaya asked, worried.
I'm fine," Teval tried to reply, but suddenly blacked out, his head hitting the console.
Hakaya frantically managed to get control of the fighter, but now she was out in open space. She knew it would be difficult to try and land back on roanoke, its recovery system was down, plus there was no medical staff on hand, so she went for the next possible option.
Hitting the comm system, she said, "Lt Commander Hakaya to Ashes of winter, Requesting permission to land on your ship."
Jake Yamaguchi nodded. "Secure the hanger... assume bio-hazardous. Inform sickbay as well.. incoming wounded, gear up."
Runt nodded her head. "Sickbay is already informed Jake." the little Vulcan smiled as she beamed the two pilots out of the Scorpion Fighter before she hacked into its systems remotely.
With gentle touches of her nimble fingers, Runt brought the Bomber into the hanger where the personnel were all geared up in haz-mat suits, preparing for her arrival.
Jake turned to his communications officer. "Hail the Tranquility for me please?" he inquired. "Captain Olmos, do you have anything in my size.... I'd like to join you when boarding the Roanoke, if... you don't mind that is..."
Hakaya didn't quite expect this turn of events, as she found herself in sickbay quarantine with Teval, whom was still bleeding pretty badly and barely conscious. Shortly after, Karryn, Aerin, Fordring, Whitetail, Wukari and Zarloos also found themselves beamed in to the quarantine facility as well. Hakaya cradled her brother, and looked up at the door in concern as a medical officer in full gear walked in.
Lt Commander Tirothyn R’Shav went instantly to the two small beings
"Oh yeah. someone shot you up pretty good... but not to worry little guy. I got you." as she gently picked up Teval from the other being who was holding onto him. "I'm gonna tend to him alright.."
She then gently placed on the biobed as she went to work. "Oh yeah.." she plucked the dermal regenerator as she began tending to his wounds.
Teval stirred somewhat but didn't really say anything, but Hakaya couldn't help but be worried for her sibling. She stayed by her brother the whole time, gently stroking his ears. Teval purred ever so softly.
Completely oblivious to her own injury, Hakaya started to fell lightheaded herself as the adrenaline wore off. Aerin walked up to Hakaya saying," Hakaya, you may want to relax and sit down."
She only responded by giving him a worried look, when aerin pointed at Hakaya's leg. She looked down, finally noticing her own bloodsoaked fur, and finally the pain caught up to her, causing her to nearly collapse. Arin managed to catch hakaya and brought her over to the next biobed.
A second medical officer came over to assist R’Shav with her wounded as a couple of other medics came over to assist Ranval. "Let me help her.." a human sounding voice commented,. "lets see.. " she turned to her companion. "Ensign,. help me with this one."
"Yessir." responded the larger being as he looked at the others. "are any of you all hurt?
"Aerin, and everyone else shook their heads, while Aerin mentioned, "No these two where the only ones to get hit, the rest of us didn't."
"Right." two of the four medics had turned to listen to the response but now that question was settled, they went back to treating the two wounded before them.
