Mission:
Mission 12: Hitchhikers are Escaped Convicts
Location: Various Locations - USS Shadow
Timeline: 1500Hrs - February 16th, 2390
At the edge of the Kaleb system, two Federation ships dropped from warp speeds, the transition was almost without effort as the Courageous hauled her wounded sibling back to sublight, on the bridge of the Courageous, Captain Jake Yamaguchi was seated in his command chair as he beheld the image of the USS Shadow on the screen. "How long before we arrive.?"
Neban Hulur glanced at his commanding officer. "About forty minutes or so Jake."
"Alright... Ask the Shadow how she's doing with her engines... I want to cut her loose shortly. She has to return under her own power... I will not deny Captain Baldwin-Webb the respect she's due."
Neban was easily another hundred and fifty pounds and a foot taller then his Commanding Officer, yet he and Jake got along very well. "I'll handle it sir."
"Thanks..." Jake answered
Neban raised an eyebrow as he regarded Yamaguchi, who shrugged, his manners indicated he wasn't bothered in the least. "Celeste doesn't get along with many." the massive being explained as Jake shrugged. "Alright... call Captain Baldwin-Webb and get me what I need."
Neban turned his console towards him, his hands flying over the screen.
Meanwhile the Chief Tactical officer raised an eyebrow. "Approaching drop point Captain."
Yamaguchi nodded. "Not yet, ignore the first and go for the second. Bear once we cut the Shadow loose, stay with her... just in case."
"I'm on it skipper. Shadow will make it home..." Bear commented with a smile.
Yamaguchi was proud of his crew, he never needed to say it as he made sure they knew it.
Beth Kurleenbear smiled. "Captain sir.... Captain Baldwin-Webb would like a word.?"
"I'm sure... put her up..." as Jake rose to his feet.
"Hello Captain, I see we have arrived close to home?" Yoshi asked looking at him.
"Yoshi, you good to go from here?." Jake inquired. "The Courageous will stay with you, we'll ensure you get home..."
"Yes, we have impulse engines but nothing more then that." Yoshi stated as she looked at him. "And I want to thank you again for all your help, I am in your debt." Yoshi stated as she looked at him. "How are the crew we sent over?" She asked.
"Doctor Cole and her guys were able to save everyone that was sent to us."
"Thank you," she said relieved and I am sure Doctor Yamaguchi will be relieved as well.
Yamaguchi nodded his head. "You would have done the same for us had our situations been reversed.." he commented. "I would however consider the debt you owed me paid if you could spare your Doctor for a few days..."
"Well I can do that," Yoshi stated with a smile. "Well we will speak soon," Yoshi added then the comm cut out.
Once the comm was cut and the Shadow was cut loose from the tractor beam. "Commander Winterlyn, please set course for Starbase 400 at maximum Impulse but lets not over due it either." Yoshi ordered.
"Course set at three quarters impulse, hope you enjoy hot meals because at this rate, you're doing to have time to eat a fair few." Mike said, his fingers dancing over the Helm console. "Well then." He added, spinning his seat to face the rest of the Bridge, "Anyone got any ideas on something to do to help pass the time?"
"And the limp home begins..." Commander David Webb muttered from his First Officer's chair. He added, "At least it's better than being towed the last leg of our trip."
Yoshi nodded, "I know." Is all she said as she sat there.
The Turbolift doors opened and out emerged Commander Celeste Yamaguchi, she held a PADD in her hands. "Captain... the casualty report.." she sighed softly. "We lost eighty four personnel, killed in action with another five hundred or so wounded."
She looked at the Doctor, "Thank you Commander, oh and once we arrive back to Starbase 400 you are free to go the USS Courageous for a few days." Yoshi stated as she looked at her. "You deserve it Commander," She added with a smile.
Yamaguchi raised an eyebrow in a questioning manner, clearly the larger woman disagreed as she shook her head. "Yessir." she responded as she turned her attention to the Galaxy class starship presently on the viewscreen. "It'll be good to see family again." she then sighed. "I've already started writing the paperwork for our fallen.." she turned back to Baldwin-Webb. "I should be done an hour or so after we get to the Starbase.."
Yoshi nodded as she waited for the Shadow to arrive at Starbase 400, she knew it was going to take awhile and if at any point the ship started to get stressed out per say the Courageous was there to assist.
"I'll go help the repair teams," David said as he stood and left the bridge. Only one Command grade Officer was required on the bridge for parking at a Starbase. It was going to a slow impuse drive there and he wanted to do something productive to kill the time.
