Past and Present - Part Three

Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 1130Hrs - September 2nd, 2393

Lt Commander Elizabeth Yamaguchi-Solusar smiled as she tapped the display before her once, and with that, the last of her paperwork for today was finished. She rose to her feet as she wanted a ten-minute break before anyone else came to give her something to do, she was pregnant and she wanted a moment to herself to unwind a little. She moved out of her office as she decided she needed to go and see Doctor Fordring.

Yamaguchi-Solusar moved down the hallway to the master display which said what each Doctor was presently dealing with. Fordring was available, she wasn't practicing or unavailable as Elizabeth tapped her name and then changed the settings, marking her as unavailable. The tall woman slowly grinned as she regarded the display, she then tapped Fordring's name and did the same for her which she had done for herself. This meant that neither woman would be bothered for anything less than anything important, like a major accident down in the docking bay or a damaged Starship loaded with wounded and needed to dock.

Yamaguchi turned and she went to seek her quarry, she found the large female behind the desk in the office she had selected for herself. "Elizabeth. Fancy meeting you here. What's up?" Fordring slowly smiled, she had a special place in her heart for Elizabeth Yamaguchi-Solusar and it often showed too.

"I was wondering how Siaxx's little one was doing... and I didn't want to offend you with violating thy sacred ground." Yamaguchi-Solusar decided to come right out with the matter.

Fordring raised an eyebrow, she had no idea that Yamaguchi-Solusar knew of the Dranosh'Thar ritual or the rites around it. "You did your homework?."

"Kameron and I looked into the matter together, how to approach it and how to ask thy blessing on it," Yamaguchi-Solusar explained herself to the larger woman before her.

"Since you honored me and mine, let's go visit the little one." as the massive female rose to her full height of over seven-foot in height. "Did Siaxx give this one a name?" Fordring inquired.

"She did," Yamaguchi-Solusar answered. "That's why I'm here... as the one who would be the one to name her, isn't present on the Starbase." the smaller female sighed softly. "I know she is most displeased over the matter," she added with a smile.

"Ahh... The naming ritual." Fordring answered. "Come, then we should do this now." Fordring led Yamaguchi-Solusar out of her office and down the hallway, towards the labs, the two women came to a stop before one of them which was locked, with a sign that said "NO ADMITTANCE, AUTHORIZED PERSONEL ONLY. For Authorization see Doctor Fordring." the script was highly specific on the matter, the punishments for violating said space were dire, colorful and promised to be sudden and swift. Fordring tapped in her authorization code before she did a retinal scan. The door retracted open in silence. Fordring then entered with Yamaguchi-Solusar following in silence.

Before the two women was an incubator and within was a female Bolian infant, she looked to be about a third of the way through the pregnancy. Fordring turned to Yamaguchi-Solusar. "What was the name for this one?"

"Torilla, for my mother," Yamaguchi-Solusar answered. "Siaxx also named the other one, the one she is presently carrying herself."

"Oh?" Fordring answered. "What name did she pick?" she inquired gently.

"Galiaan, for you," Yamaguchi-Solusar explained before she nodded at Fordring. "You were the one that made all of this, happen."

"This is no small honor. I do not believe she realizes what honor she does me?" Fordring paused as she fought a sudden surge of emotion, she closed her eyes as one tear fell from the corner of her eye, she then lifted a finger and wiped it away from the side of her nose, the motion was quick and while Galiaan regained her emotional control quickly. All of the telepaths around would have felt the surge of emotion.

"Yes Galiaan, she does... She looked at the matter most carefully." Yamaguchi-Solusar explained in a quiet tone of voice. "She asked me how I felt... and then she apologized for not naming a child for me, I told her I did not need or deserve that honor... There were others who were worthy... Maybe someday, I will be... But not today." she looked up at the massive woman beside her.

"Don't sell yourself short Elizabeth. People are alive because of you, you are worthy... The hanger deck fire on the Roanoke... I know how that's bothered you, still bothers you and I suspect it will for a long time to come..." she paused. "I could not have done it and neither could Siaxx... But you did and you did it well. You even saved a few people who might have otherwise become fatalities."

"It still bugs me," Yamaguchi-Solusar responded quietly.

"I know sweetie," Fordring answered quietly. "I never said you had to like it, if you did then I'd be worried about you... and I'd send you to see the counselor."

"I know... I sometimes do see the counselor for my issues, Kam helps too." at the mention of her husband's name, Yamaguchi-Solusar instantly smiled.

"Good." Fordring turned to face the child that was only the side of her smallest finger. "Today, you are to be named little one..." she said formally. Yamaguchi-Solusar likewise turned to face the child. "From this time as Kovar is thy witness, you are named... Torilla Dvald-Vaxx..." she commented as she gently touched the side of the incubator. Elizabeth tapped the display nearby as she began to fill out the various details for the small infant. "She is so named Galiaan," she spoke in the same formal tone.

"Welcome Torilla... To my hearth and home, we will make you stay a good and memorable one. I will protect you until your parent returns. Till all are one." and with that, the ceremony was over. Yamaguchi-Solusar turned to Fordring. "So... What now?"

"We carry on as before, we look after Torilla until she is born, I suspect it'll be the same with my namesake, presently sleeping inside her mother, waiting to be born as well." Fordring smiled. "We can deliver this one after Siaxx has delivered my namesake, so she can be present at both rituals."

Yamaguchi-Solusar smiled. "Works for me, I will assist you with both deliveries... If you will permit it."

"Yes, you will be present Elizabeth." Fordring smiled at the other woman. "You will have had your baby by then... and you will be on maternity leave... But I will call for you to assist me with this delivery... I suspect Siaxx will demand for to you be there, so I will not deny her or you." the massive female slowly smiled. "Besides, its good to look after the various needs of others. But we should go back to work."

Yamaguchi-Solusar nodded her head. "Yes, very wise." and with that, the two women departed the lab as Fordring relocked the door behind her.
