The Mirror Scaled Serpent - Part Five

Mission: Mission 105: The Mirror, Shattered
Location: Admiral Lasky's office - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 1000Hrs - September 25th, 2393

Captain Ouros Yamaguchi had taken a little time to shower, change and stuck her uniform on, now she was off to see the man who was busy having children with her mother, her relationship with Tom Lasky was confusing and complicated, just as it was for her twin, Elizabeth Yamaguchi-Solusar but for different reasons. This was a man who had made no kinship with her for any reason, only that she was the daughter of his present spouse. She had no idea how she felt of him as a result but then Jake Yamaguchi was her father and in this reality, he was a far better man than the monster she had known. This Jake had made an effort to get to know her, even after he found out what his alternate reality counterpart had done to his own child. In Jakes's eyes, Ouros was still his daughter, same as Elizabeth, and Selendis, Gabriel and Rachael, Lassara and the twins.

Ouros found living in this reality all very confusing, the staff was actually nice, helpful and they truly wished to be here, nobody was trying to steal her food or her clothing and nobody wanted to violate her or murder her, in all it was very confusing for Ouros to process most days.

Lasky was sitting in his office when the door chime rang. "Come in." and the door opened, in walked Elizabeth Yamaguchi-Solusar with a rather muscular physique and wearing a uniform which marked her as a marine, Lasky knew he was dealing with Ouros and not Elizabeth. "Come in Captain, help yourself to the replicator and take a seat. Let me explain why I requested you."

"Yessir." the young female said in her dusky accent, which sounded very similar to Elizabeth except her's was slightly rougher due to a more stressful working environment and a higher requirement of shouting. The tall female moved to the replicator, ordered herself something to eat and drink before she moved to take a seat at Lasky's desk. "You sent for me sir?" Yamaguchi asked gently.

"I did Ouros... Mind if I call you Ouros." Lasky inquired.

"You are bedding my mother, sir, I'm surprised you'd be asking me for anything," Yamaguchi answered as she lifted the mug to her lips and drained half of it in one go. "What's going on sir.?"

Lasky regarded her for a moment as if to say something more in kin to his complex relationship to her and her mother but he decided to keep it professional. "I need a marine with knowledge of your home reality, this brings me to you. You'll be assisting with the command of the marines assigned to the USS Infinity." Lasky explained. "The Captain of the Infinity and the marine commander are both expecting you. You will be training the marines in question to expect and prepare for anything from your reality of origin. he paused. "Why you, you ask me?. Well, Plataea and Selendis can't go as both are pregnant and Lasarra can't go either, as she has issues that preclude her." he paused. "This leaves you."

"I'm not pregnant sir and I don't have any issues," Yamaguchi answered quietly. "I'm told we leave the day after tomorrow.?" she inquired further.

"Yes, Commodore T'Shaamet will have arrived here by then and Captain Gilmore has indicated that she'll be ready to go by then. Commander Ethan Duval will be going and so will Commander Victoria Yamaguchi, both will be going with Infinity to assist with matters, you will be joining them to assist Colonel James "Gryphon" McTaggert with the mission at hand. I wanted a marine with firsthand knowledge of that reality... You."

"I will do what I can sir," Yamaguchi answered in a flat tone of voice. "It'll be good to see Commander Duval again."

Last regarded her a moment in silence, while he processed that little detail. "Wait, weren't you and he close?" Lasky inquired, in a quiet tone of voice.

"We still are..." Yamaguchi instantly cheered up. "Were it not for the marines, I'd be in the navy working with him as one of the officers on the Gaarni."
she paused. "It's still an option I can pursue should I wish it, sir," she added a moment later.

"Indeed it is Ouros," Lasky commented. "If you want to switch over to the navy, out of the marines, then let me know and I will do what I can to help you, Starfleet security could benefit from your talents," he commented. "I leave that choice up to you to consider at another time," he added.

"Indeed. What are my specific orders with this assignment?" Yamaguchi inquired.

"Mostly, look after the safety of the USS Infinity and all aboard her. You will be leading part of Commodore T'Shaamet's gauntleted fist. However, one thing I must address... If you are boarded. You are to take prisoners for interrogation... but above all else, do not permit USS Infinity to fall into enemy hands, use any and all measures to prevent her capture, the same goes for her crew, rescue them if you can but if not... The information they know must not fall into Imperial hands... No matter what. Do I make myself clear Captain?" Lasky regarded the young woman before him, she was so like Elizabeth that it hurt him to demand this of her but she was so unlike Elizabeth at the same time.

Yamaguchi came to attention in silence, as she heard the iron in his voice, she knew what he was asking of her, she was prepared to do what had to be done to carry out said orders, however, she hoped she would not need to follow them. "As clear as crystal Admiral. It will be done." she paused. "I hope I won't need to, however."

"I know Captain... Also, Commodore T'Shaamet knows what I'm asking you. This won't be a great surprise to her." Lasky paused as she finished her food and drink, she could sense the end of their meeting approaching as she regarded him. "Admiral... May I speak freely?"

"Make it a practice around me Ouros... I had this same chat with Elizabeth about eighteen months ago. She was stubborn about it, impress me, and don't be like your twin, would ya?"

"Does Elizabeth know how you feel about her?" Yamaguchi asked softly.

Lasky regarded the young woman before her as he nodded slowly. "Yes, she does... Plataea knows, as does Jake and Torilla... Kameron knows too." Lasky sighed. "I keep comparing you to her... You look so much like her..." Lasky sighed softly. "Having feelings like that for my best friends daughter."

"I've never had anyone feel that way about me before..." she paused. "She gave your son the chance to live life... Its only natural that you would feel some kinship to her for that." Yamaguchi paused. "I should get going sir," she added quietly.

"Good luck Ouros... Dismissed." and with that, the meeting came to an end as Yamaguchi rose to her feet and departed in silence.
