Captain Rachael Yamaguchi regarded the younger man before her as she raised an eyebrow. "You needn't bother reading the report I prepared for you," she explained. "I can sum it all up in one sentence," she added.
Division Admiral Lasky regarded the older female before her with a curious look in his eye. "Oh... and how so?" he inquired while he regarded her, a curious look in his eyes.
"Starfleet command isn't sending you enough people to command all of the ships under your collective command. I've been able to trace this particular problem to its source," she commented. "As fate would have it, the issue is an old family friend of mine." as she smiled. "If you wish, I can call her and ask her on the matter... and see what young Ms. Dragon has to say for herself."
"How did you manage all of this?" Lasky inquired, in a jovial tone of voice, the wide smile on his face also helped as well.
"I am Borg," Yamaguchi answered evenly. "I can still lay claim to majesty. Even if my crown is blackened and charred." while Yamaguchi smiled sweetly at him. "You know what that's like?. right?"
"Nope... I can't say that I do." Lasky answered, he had never encountered the Borg directly and while he had never faced them in battle, he had seen their handiwork and had lost people at the hands of them including several members of the two families that had taken him in and made him one of their own. "I think my various relatives hate Starfleet Command for various reasons, even if they will never admit it."
"Jake is not subtle on various matters. Neither is Elizabeth or Torilla." Lasky answered with a sigh. "Even if my relationship with them was outright broken at times, thanks to Peeves." there was a certain bitterness in Lasky's tone.
"Yes, I read about those little details. Jake was most displeased with you on the matter at hand. You slept with his daughter, my granddaughter and then with his wife... My daughter-in-law." Yamaguchi kept her tone civil. "I also heard that ship was insane, the living conditions were subpar, the food was terrible and let's not talk about her former skipper." Yamaguchi waved her hand as if dismissing a rather annoying and aggravating pest.
"Why not?" Lasky inquired.
"Because." Yamaguchi then huffed a gentle sigh. "She was the one who was directly responsible for all of it." as Rachael's eyes glowed a sudden deep red tone. "Including what happened to my son. Oh, I know all about what happened to him at the hands of that Betazoid bitch who should have been institutionalized." Yamaguchi glared darkly at Lasky. "But as you say... Let's not go there because I can't assimilate her and make her my pet slave." there was no love or warmth in this statement on any level whatsoever.
Lasky wasn't sure if she was serious or not. "Oh... That's unexpected and rather dramatic."
"I assure you, I lack the ability to assimilate anyone..." Yamaguchi clarified. "After what she did to my family, however... That I cannot forgive so easily."
Lasky knew exactly of where Yamaguchi spoke of, Jake had talked of his mother at length, Torilla had also spoken of her in such reverent tones that at times Lasky was not sure of Rachael Yamaguchi was a real woman or something that Torilla wanted to aspire to but knew she could never get to. He was sure that Torilla was overselling it but now that he was actually working with the woman that had given birth to his friend, he was no longer so sure. "I heard that happened with Nalla and Jake."
"Do you know the consequences of unprotected sex between a human and a Deltan?" Yamaguchi inquired in a mild tone. "Their two minds become one... They become one person for the duration of the encounter. Nalla overpowered Jake with her psionic abilities which the little wench can't control. Hence why she has all these stupid things she must do to maintain her sanity..." there was a certain malevolence in her tone which set the hairs on the back of Lasky's neck standing on end.
"Rachael." Lasky began. "Losing your temper and wanting to crush Nalla's skull with your armored fist will not help matters with anyone, not Jake. not you and not me," he commented. "Nalla Furban isn't here, I don't know where she is and unless she is to be assigned to my command, I am not going to care about her holiness either."
"No, she's assigned to the ninety-second fleet, part of the medical section of group eight," she explained. "But enough about her, we have other matters to attend to. I will contact Ms. Dragon and deal with her myself." Yamaguchi answered, in order to stop him losing his temper with her, considering this meeting had gone sideways from where it had been intended.
Lasky nodded his head. "All of that sounds good. I'll let you handle Admiral Dragon. I think that's all we need to discuss."
Yamaguchi rose to her feet in silence, before she collected the two PADD's she had brought with her to the meeting. "Yessir. I will keep you apprised of my progress." and with that the meeting was ended as she turned and departed, thinking to herself. 'well, that could have gone better.'
