Personal History | Decorations: Cardassian War Service Ribbon Purple Heart Medical Cross Borg Attack Ribbon Battle of Wolf 359 Service ribbon Personal History Rachael Yamaguchi was born on May the Fifteenth of Twenty Three Nineteen, the youngest of two siblings in the city of Stapelton Center on Wolf 359-b and she was the baby of the family, her parents were both civilians and both wanted nothing to do with Starfleet as both sets of their parents had done so. She grew up being close to her older brother John who looked after her and protected her as best he could. Her family relocated from Wolf 359 to Alpha Centauri when she was six years old and Rachael suddenly discovered she had an interest in swimming as Alpha Centauri IV was a shallow-water world rich in islands and tropical habitat and it was here that she grew up among the islands and oceans of this paradise world. When she graduated school, she applied to join Starfleet and was accepted in the fall intake of 2337 and she did well in the medical aspects of her career track and she graduated the academy with honors and was assigned to the USS Charleston, Excelsior-class for her first assignment, it was here she met her husband who was a Petty Officer 2nd Class in the tactical department, he brashly asked 'the hot doctor' out on a date, she accepted and the two became friends. Rachael served here for four years and was then reassigned to the USS Tecumseh, also for four years and it was here where she came face to face with the horrors of the Cardassian border wars. the Tecumseh and three Sabre class ships, the Johnston, the Peterson, and the Craswell were assigned to destroy a Cardassian asteroid base in the Minos Korva System as part of the Federation efforts to liberate the area from the Cardassians. The Battle was long and both sides fought bitterly but this small battlegroup, in particular, was able to destroy the base, but only at great cost. The USS Peterson was destroyed with only a third of her eighty-man crew escaping from the slaughterhouse that was once their home. Her longtime boyfriend now married her in late 2345 and a daughter which Rachael had named April had joined them on the Tecumseh a year later, two years later amidst the horrors of war, a second daughter which they named Coral joined April, the Tecumseh was rotated off of the front lines for a refitting in early 2349 so rather than stay, Rachael requested a transfer to another ship. She joined the USS Sheridan as a combat veteran, a paramedic who had seen a few too many cases come across her tables and someone who had lost far too much of her time fighting the inevitable. A set of twins came along while she was heading to the USS Sheridan, Ben helped his wife deliver both children while the two other children slept, blissfully unaware that Rachael was in the agony of childbirth. The two would be named Heather and Jake, their only boy. Their last child would join them here on this assignment, a girl named Talon. Rachael tried to obtain clearance for her family of five to live with her aboard ship with her and her husband, she was refused and it would be the first time that she and her husband spent a serious amount of time apart as he obtained an assignment on Earth Space Dock, he took their children with him but her new assignment went on several exploration missions and had provisions aboard for families, something her previous Excelsior-class assignments did not. Her time aboard the Sheridan was uneventful but it was mostly patrol assignments but she enjoyed her assignment to the USS Gandhi and when she was posted to the USS Azuma, she relished this assignment too, her first as a Chief Medical Officer of a capital class ship, her assignment to the USS Gandhi saw her reunited with her husband and children. After this, she was assigned to the USS Nebula, the first of her kind. The Nebula and her first few siblings were part of a new generation of Federation ships in all facets of their operation, from science to tactical, from command to the civilian aspects of them. She found out just how much as the USS Nebula and later the USS Roanoke would both feel like glorified hotels to her, it was around this time that April Yamaguchi, her eldest would leave home and go off to join Starfleet as she once did, the thought of her children leaving the nest was a happy one but also a sad one as she loved her babies very much. Her assignment aboard the Roanoke was not as long as she liked so when the ship was damaged during a firefight with three Cardassian Galors, she knew this ship would be in spacedock for months so she requested assignment to the first Galaxy Class starship that came up, she was then assigned to the USS Resolution. She spent two years on the Resolution before requesting reassignment to another ship of the line, citing irreconcilable differences in leadership style between her and Captain Carey. He felt she was too opinionated and didn't know how to leave things alone while she said he was far too aggressive and too much of a cowboy for her tastes, trouble was that this opened an investigation into his conduct and the review board sided with her on the matter, a black mark was placed in his file and that was the last anyone said of it, she was simply moved to another assignment. Her next posting was the USS Ticonderoga, a new Nebula class ship of the line which while she didn't mind its torpedo loadout, she felt the phasers were really weak. She remained here for the better part of a year before volunteering for service on the USS Melbourne, a newly commissioned Nebula-class starship that was able to go and join the Fleet that Admiral Hanson was assembling in the Wolf System. Unfortunately, Rachael and eleven thousand others were lost that tragic day, either to the destruction of their ships or worse, assimilation at the hands of the Borg. What happened to Rachael herself was not known at the time, though it is assumed that she died when the Melbourne's warp core collapsed or as some in her family think, that maybe she was assimilated. The truth of the matter did not become known for almost a quarter-century later. Rachael unbeknownst to others was one of those who did escape only to be assimilated at the hands of the Borg, she along with several thousand others was sent back to the Delta Quadrant rather than be destroyed at the hands of the cube when it fell before the Enterprise during the defense of Earth. Rachael would spend the next quarter of a century being held in thrall to the Borg as part of a slave mentality, she would go out and assimilate others under the designation of Unit Thirteen of Eighty Two. It wouldn't be until early to mid-2392 on the Terran calendar that she would be freed alongside quadrillion's of other drones when the Collective was shattered. After the destruction of the Borg Collective. Yamaguchi and several dozen million others were repatriated in Federation space and overtime were slowly de-assimilated, the demand on the Federation's medical corps was immense and the Akurians assisted as best as they could, devoting almost all of their efforts in this galaxy to this effort. Rachael Yamaguchi herself was cloned before her original body died due to systemic failures and the abuse she had sustained from decades of abuse from the Borg Collective, however, her mind and consciousness were moved to the new body and now she enjoys life as a young woman in her mid-thirties once again. Yamaguchi found herself as the leader of all the remaining Free-Borg in the galaxy and she remained as a leader long enough to establish ties with the Federation and then once she was able, she resigned her posting and now she has no idea what to do with herself. However, when she got a sudden job offer to earn some valuable command experience commanding one of the Federation's newest ships while being deployed from a Starbase where some of her kin were assigned, it was too good an offer to pass up and so she accepted the command of the USS Fugazi, out of Starbase Vanguard. After four months of commanding the USS Fugazi, she was promoted and reassigned to assist Admiral Lasky with commanding the squadron. It was only a temp assignment as she had been informed that her skills were in demand. While all of this was going on, she paused a moment to honour her husband's memory on the eve of his 75th birthday. His passing had left Rachael with an empty feeling. In early November of 2393, her permanent assignment came through and thus, she bid Vanguard goodbye as she moved out to begin the next chapter of her life in Starfleet. |
