Captain Heris Dvald was sitting in her office. She had her white lab coat hanging on a coat hook on her office wall next to the entrance. Next to it was her medical kit. She never knew if she was needed to assist with a medical procedure that had come up at the last second. It was something she liked to keep in mind as she spent almost all of her time handling administrative tasks and the like. She was still a Doctor and the handsome Bolian woman still considered the ability to wear the white coat as a privilege and not a right.

There was a gentle knock at her door. The Bolian woman lifted her eyes from the paperwork she was taking care of. "Come in," she called.

The door opened and in walked the tall Orion female who had become her new deputy chief medical officer, she had replaced Doctor Sokanon who had stuck in for reassignment. Except her new assignment had not yet come in. Sokanon was working in the hospital, helping out wherever the Caitian woman was needed.

Doctor Xaelah Di'Tomasso stepped into her new bosses office. "I just wanted to ask you a quick question. It's about the upcoming Christmas party. If we're even having one this year." the tall Orion female explained.

Dvald smiled, she had met her single spouse at a party much like the one that Xaelah had proposed. Her first kiss with her spouse had been under some mistletoe and her first date had been a sterling success. All thanks to a Christmas party. "Do it. I don't care what it takes. I am not about to deny our people the chance to throw a party. After what they've fought through and endured this year. Everyone has earned it." she explained. Heris breathed out and then back in again. "Take a few people and secure the area you want for the party. But do impress upon everyone the need for acceptable behaviour." The Bolian female frowned at her subordinate. "I don't need security hauling people to the drunk tank for the night. Okay?" she commented.

"I'll pass the word along," Di'Tomasso answered with a smile. "I somehow expected you to refuse me." the Orion woman commented as she slid her lithe form into one of the office chairs before the desk. Behind which, the Bolian was presently sitting.

"Refuse you?" Dvald commented. "I am not human yes. Neither are you and-" was as far as she got before there was a second knock on the door. "Enter?" Dvald called out. The doors parted and in walked the Caitian woman who blinked as she peered at the two women before her. "Mmm... Commander. Captain. What am interrupting?" Sokanon inquired.

"We're presently discussing the merits of having a Christmas party," Dvald answered. "We're presently trying to decide the rules for this event."

"Everyone needs to behave. One or two glasses of booze per person. Anyone being overly rowdy gets sent home." Sokanon answered. "Our people are usually well behaved but this has been a very long and very trying year. From getting this base operational. to making a cure for the Halanan medical crisis. Along with several major problems along the way. Then there is the Elizabeth Yamaguchi-Solusar concern that's still being sorted out." the Caitian woman explained before she let out a long and loud sigh.

Dvald indicated the other chair. The Caitian slid her lithe form into the chair after a moment of considering the matter. "It sucks. It's been a long and exhausting year with a lot of drama to go with it." the Caitian woman explained in a rather tired tone of voice. "Heris. Giving them a couple of days off and a Christmas party that lasts that long is the least we can do for them." The Caitian spread her arms as she spoke. Indicating that she had made a provocative statement and had demanded a response.

"Alright," Dvald answered quietly. "Should anyone not in medical be allowed to partake?"

"No," Di'Tomasso answered softly. "Before you jump down my throat. Hear me out," she said to Sokanon who regarded the Orion with an amused look. "We don't have the space we would need to accommodate the entire Starbase and that would turn from a party into a riot. We don't need that sort of insanity thanks. If medical staff are bringing them along as their plus one then that's fine. I want this gathering to be about us for us."

Sokanon paused. "If Elizabeth Yamaguchi-Solusar wants to go. What do we tell her?"

Dvald regarded the Caitian in silence for a moment. She understood what the Caitian was saying and why she was saying it. "She's still medical, so unless a transfer request has come to us that I didn't know about. She's still medical so she's still welcome."

"Okay," Sokanon answered with a gentle smile on her lips. "I will inform her about the details."
