Mission: Mission 116: All Along the Watchtowers - Part One
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 1930Hrs - October 26th, 2393

Lasky smiled, he had a feeling he knew of what alternate medications and measures the young woman before him was not saying. He decided to not press on the matter at hand. "Fair enough."

"Beth." Yamaguchi-Solusar commented. "What will you do about medical?" he inquired. "I know Doctor Fordring wanted you to not rush into making a foolish choice..." he paused as if waiting for his wife to lose her temper. When she didn't, he decided to press on with what he was saying.

"I know. Because no assignment will take me if I go now... It'll go against me. I have no other departmental experience and nothing for command. Hell, I'm not even command qualified either."

"That can be fixed in time honey," Lasky commented. "I have ships and people who are in need... But your right. It was bad enough that I'm considering Sokanon for a command... But she has her Commanders rank and the various prerequisites... You don't unfortunately..." Lasky sighed softly.

Yamaguchi-Solusar nodded, she had accepted she wasn't getting away from this issue. So she decided it was time to draw a line in the sand and hold that line forever. "I need to go and see Galiaan Fordring anyway... I need to... Make nice with her and try to resolve our issues..." Yamaguchi-Solusar commented. "She thinks our friendship is ended."

For Lasky. This was a major revelation. "I...I didn't know things had gotten so out of hand... Do you want me to-?" he started but Elizabeth cut him off as she sighed. "No," Yamaguchi-Solusar answered. "This burden is mine... and mine alone."

"Are you sure Beth... I did not help matters..." Solusar admitted. "It's only fair that I am there to help..."

Yamaguchi-Solusar regarded her husband. There was no issue too large or too small that he didn't help her with over the course of the last year. "Kam. Without question. You are the greatest thing that's ever happened to me... I don't know how I would have gotten this far without you... But this time. I have to do this alone..." she let out a soft sigh. "I was the one who terminated our relationship and if you came. We'd outnumber then corner her..." she shook her head. "I have to do this alone."

"Alright." Solusar smiled at his spouse. "So long as you're sure..."

"Yeah, Kam. I am. I need to take her aside and resolve our issues... She was the one running Alpha Watch but mostly it was the Beta Watch guys and to a lesser degree, the Gamma and Delta watches screwing with me." she commented. "Being in three departments didn't help."

Lasky very quickly understood where she was coming from with this statement. "You were the Chief Veterinarian on the Starbase... Weren't you?"

"I was... Looking after thousands of animals... That alone was a major headache and then being a parent and being pregnant... In addition to being a full-time Doctor and a fully licensed therapist... Means my days were all very busy one's..." she sighed. "Some of this blame is mine... I could have taken steps sooner... But-" as she let out a sigh.

"You felt you had to prove your worth..." Lasky finished for her with a knowing look in his eye. "For whatever it's worth to you. I understand why you did..." he commented. "But look on your time off as a reward for your hard work. I happen to know that you have at least two commendations coming from two different departments for your work to date... I can see it being as many as five in all. Maybe you'll get a medal for it. If I had my way. I'd nominate you for a medal myself... But you're not in my command."

Yamaguchi-Solusar regarded Lasky with a gentle smile. "I know... But... Still... I appreciate your words all the same."

"This is still a new Starbase... Beth. Your work has been invaluable. I've heard others speaking about you. Siaxx is in your corner as are a few others..." Lasky commented. "Having the Starbase Executive Officer in your corner must be worth something..." he added with a grin.

"Tom. The three of us know it doesn't mean a lot.." Yamaguchi-Solusar answered softly. "I'm still sidelined and able to catch up on sleep. When I'm working. I'm handling paperwork for the General..." she indicated to her husband. "His father to be more specific..."

Lasky nodded his head, he had not heard of this but he was also unsurprised that someone had come along and had snatched up Elizabeth so she could be kept away from medical. Lasky had wanted her as an aide for himself but he would not begrudge the General on the matter. "I had not known," he commented

"The General thought it best that this was kept quiet. I seem to be the flavour of the month and had he not gotten to me, someone else would have... You or Siaxx mostly." Yamaguchi-Solusar smiled. "Not that I would have had issues working for either one of you," she added after a moment. She smiled. "Still. Its nice to have the extra help... Which is nice to know... Really, it is..." as the pregnant woman gently smiled at the older man before her. "I'll go and see Galiaan in the morning... Let me get a night of sleep and hopefully, nothing stupid happens in the meantime." she gave Lasky a look.

Lasky simply smiled. "Do not trust to hope dear... It has forsaken this land."
