"Nice of him," Elizabeth answered as Kameron handed her the drink he had saved for her. "Here you go."

"Thanks." Elizabeth accepted the drink. "I'll start working for you, tomorrow General."

"That sounds good Elizabeth. My guys will be ready for you and they will be able to answer any questions you have when you have them. They have been told to not contact you unless it's inside a six-hour window. From oh nine hundred to fifteen hundred." he explained. "But they will have work for you if you are feeling up to it, if not then don't worry about it. Your goal is to assist them with their work but they won't be demanding things of you, They will however be coordinating things with you... You four will be looking after me while I'm working on the Starbase." he explained. "If you into issues or problems of your own. Let me know and I'll get you whatever you need to make the issue go away."

Elizabeth smiled. "Thank you. Will I be required to visit anyone or some see anyone?"

"It probably wouldn't be a bad idea for you to drop by my office from time to time. Remind people that you are a real person and not some figment of the General's insanity." Ranik paused. "But that'll be up to you. If and when you decide you want to be social, it'll be good for you to get to know my guys and a reminder to my guys that you do exist."

"Okay then," Elizabeth answered. "With all the rest I'm getting. I can see me going stir-crazy in a week or so."

"That's all well and fine honey but do remember... You're doing me a favour. I want to be sure you get plenty of rest... I do not need to cause you any further issues with your situation. I am in enough hot water as it is with him." Ranik indicated Kameron who raised an eyebrow, clearly, Ranik had caught his son by surprise. "I am also in trouble with your parents as well..."

Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. "Did dad say something to you?"

"No, but once he finds out you're working for me. I can bet good money that he will... So I do not need you stressing out over this. If you're not up to it then send me an email and it'll be fine. As I said, you're doing me a favour and the least I can do is help out where needed. Right now that means ensuring you're stress levels are kept down and if that means I need to yell at someone. Well, that's something I'm only too happy to do."

Elizabeth nodded, processing what she was being told. "Making my own hours is... Going to be an experience I won't be able to get used to," she admitted.

"That's fine Beth. I would prefer you worry more about your pregnancy than the paperwork I'll be sending you." Ranik answered. "You are malnourished, overworked and unappreciated. That has to stop... and it's going to stop," he added quietly.

"Fortunately we have plenty of help present on the Starbase... I know Captain Siaxx Dvald-Vaxx is deeply concerned about your well-being Beth. Maybe you could call her later on..." Kameron commented gently.

"Had you not offered me your job, General. I know she would have me working for her as an aide." Elizabeth commented with a gentle smile.

"Lucky me then." Ranik smiled back at the large female before him. "Dinner should be in a couple of hours time. I'll make something for the cats too... Avalanche seems to like me. But. I wouldn't call myself a cat person... Even if she likes to sleep on me."

"Wait, the cat sleeps on you?" Elizabeth asked softly. "That's... a surprise. She's the most anti-social of all our cats."

"Well, she seems to like me for some reason," Ranik answered with a simple shrug of his shoulders. "Who knows... I don't mind the attention and she seems to enjoy hanging out with me whenever I drop by."

Kameron found he had no good answer for that statement. "The cats do have toys... Maybe you could try using one of those."

"I do," Ranik answered. "The wand-thing you guys have, she goes nuts for that thing," Ranik explained as he placed the uncooked fries into a pot of oil. "Alright, time to fry the french fries," he commented with a gentle smile. "Stand back guys, this might get a little stupid and I don't need either of you getting burnt." With that warning out of the way, Ranik went to work with the grace of a master of his craft. "Just remember Beth, you are not beholden to get anything done. Like I said before you are doing me a favour, nothing more." Ranik smiled.

"Sounds good General," Elizabeth answered with a smile.
