Mission: Mission 111: The Sorrows of Night
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 1500Hrs - October 24th, 2393

Lt Commander Kameron Solusar was sitting in the den. His spouse's grandmother had departed several hours earlier with Robert and Elizabeth had retired to get some sleep. This left Kameron to work on the paperwork that he had neglected. Commander Fardreamer had made it clear that Kameron was to look after his neglected and unhappy spouse and not do work. Foehammer hated feeling so helpless as he watched his wife overwork herself. It was something that the two of them had argued over before, one of those arguments had nearly destroyed their marriage. It was an event that Foehammer still had trouble with coming to terms about. It was also why he made dammed sure that Elizabeth and himself had their time for themselves and their time for discussing their issues and concerns.

Foehammer knew that his spouse needed sleep so he opted to leave her be and let her sleep. He had deactivated her combadge and the com system. This was after he had contacted medical and informed the front desk. Under no circumstances was anyone to contact his wife for any reason whatsoever for the next seven days. He had been polite on the matter at hand, but he had also been forthright on the matter. Foehammer had made it clear in no uncertain terms that his spouse was to be left alone.

Foehammer smiled as he recalled the fact that there had been no well-wishers or other guests of any kind other than family. This was something he approved of, but Elizabeth's mailbox was overflowing with getting well soon cards, from kin and from friends. From colleges and from people who knew her.

Foehammer tapped the display once, he noticed something looked a little off about the model of the star on the holoprojector when there was a sudden knock on the door. He had not mentioned anything to anyone about not coming over. He rose to his feet before he moved to answer the door. The door parted as Foehammers eyes widened. His biological parents were at the door. "Mom... Dad... Come in..." he commented before he turned away to allow his parents to enter his home.

Foehammer sighed softly, he should have expected his parents to come running, once they heard about what had happened. His mother even lived here on the Starbase. I... I wasn't expecting you... I would have cleaned up..." he noticed his mother was present but he was exhausted. He was too tired to fight. He was waiting for his mother to say something stupid but instead, she said nothing.

"Its good to see you, Kam." Solusar gently gave his son a hug. "I wanted to keep my visit quiet. You know me... I've always hated all the formality that comes with rank..."

"Yeah, I know you well. You've never changed Dad... Still a marine at heart."

"Well son, every man's a rifleman, every man's a medic." Solusar inquired. "We're both here for you and Beth. Whatever you need... We're here for you."

"I appreciate that dad," Kam answered quietly. "Beth is asleep in the next room and Grandma Rachael is looking after Robert... So Beth can actually sleep without worries," he commented evenly. "Hopefully, we don't wake her."

"What is happening with Beth. Kam?" Jessica Solusar inquired gently. "How bad is she... Really?" she pressed gently, knowing the wrong word would cause far more harm than good.

Kameron decided to come out and simply tell his mother the truth, without an argument. "She's exhausted all of the time. This pregnancy has had its share of challenges." Kameron let out a soft sigh. "Don't get me wrong... While Beth's pregnancy with Robert had its share of ups and downs... This one has really nailed her with nothing but crap."

"The medical staff overworked her a lot... Didn't they?" Solusar asked of her son. "I should have known..." she slowly sunk into one of the chairs nearby. "My failure is complete..." he sighed as he shook his head.

Kameron regarded his mother. "I didn't mention it... Because we never interact," he answered quietly. "I'm actually suprised that Beth didn't mention it to you."

"She never said a word... I could and... I should have pressed her for specifics since the clues were staring me in the face... She was looking tired, emaciated and gaunt for weeks..." Solusar paused. "But I didn't want to make things between us worse than they already were..." He paused. "Has she been in for a checkup?"

"She goes in tomorrow morning... It'll be Kadian Paris who's going to be handling it." Kameron answered. "I'll be looking after Robert while she does..." as he regarded his mother. "Though... I could use a hand..." he knew that imparting forgiveness was a blessing but that this wasn't solely about him or Beth, it was about both of them together with their unborn child.

Solusar regarded her son. She nodded. "Let me know when and where... I'll be there..." she answered. Solusar knew that she would never get a better chance to air the issue and concerns before them. "Kam, for what it's worth to you... I'm sorry... For everything, I said to you... and... for what I failed to say and do."

Kameron was silent for a moment. He wasn't expecting the apology and it showed on his face. "I accept your apology mom," he answered.

Solusar had not expected his spouse to issue any sort of apology so easily or so quickly but he wasn't going to complain either.
