Commodore Celeste Yamaguchi-Hobbs smiled as the airlock before opened and out came General Ranik Solusar. He was in civilian clothing rather than his regular or dress uniform. Yamaguchi-Hobbs stepped forward to greet him. "General. Welcome to Vanguard. General Johnson called ahead and made it clear we were to have no honour guard or anything else for your arrival."
"I can always count on Steven to make sure things are looked after." Solusar smiled at the smaller female officer before him. "Thanks for tolerating this stupidity on such short notice Commodore. I do appreciate it."
Yamaguchi-Hobbs smiled. "Of course General..." she answered. "I've been made aware of some of your issues... Something about a family matter which General Johnson asked that I stay out of... Citing you being involved," she explained with a look at his face.
"I hated to ask but the less involved with this little drama. The better it'll be for all concerned. It's bad enough that its gone unaddressed for this length of time but now my grandbaby is at risk... This is something I simply refuse to tolerate. I appreciate your indulgence in this matter, Celeste..." Solusar smiled, knowing fully well that this was her domain and she would well be within her rights to make a fuss and there was little he could do about it.
"Of course," Yamaguchi-Hobbs answered with a nod of her head. "As you say, there is enough drama already... We have informed Captain Solusar of your presence and she is expecting you." Yamaguchi-Hobbs explained. "I had assumed you wished to spend time with your spouse at her place and as such, I did not arrange for quarters for you."
"Thank you, Celeste. I think my spouse will appreciate my company while this issue is being dealt with." Solusar answered with a gentle smile. "Hopefully I can get my wife and son to stand being in the same room for longer than ten seconds..." Solusar huffed a long, deep sigh at the thought of the issue staring them in the face.
Yamaguchi-Hobbs smiled." Alright. Kam and Elizabeth are at home and no. They do not know you are here... So I will leave the matter for you to deal with." she commented with a grin.
"Thank you." Solusar nodded before the two of them parted company. Captain Jessica Solusar approached her husband, she regarded him with a gentle smile. "Ranik... People are always telling me that space is so vast and timeless..."
"Hey, Jess..." Solusar greeted his spouse. "Have you heard what's going on with Kam?"
"He emailed me about three hours ago... I had a feeling it would bring you out as... I'm not sure of what to do with Kam..."
"We'll drop by together... Hopefully, Kam does not object too much..." Solusar answered his wife's comment with his own.
"Sounds good... How long will you be staying?"
"As long as needed," Solusar answered. "Until this matter is resolved or until hell freezes over, whichever comes first," Solusar answered as the two moved down the hallway towards a group of turbo lifts. Solusar tapped the display once, calling for a turbolift car. The system read his fingerprint scan and designated him as a priority passenger. It quickly
sent a turbolift car to his location. It arrived a moment later. It was also empty which made Solusar smile.
The Solusars both entered the lift. Solusar gave his destination while his spouse held her silence, as she prepared for what she was sure would be a bruising and punishing encounter.
"Have you talked to Kam recently?" Solusar turned to face his spouse ins silence, he was sure of what her answer would be but he needed to hear it from her. He also needed her to answer now.
Jessica Solusar sighed as she shook her head. "I tried several times to get through to him. He avoids me... He's also made it clear that I am not welcome in his home or his life."
"What about Beth?" Solusar asked.
"I've seen her for counselling a few times... I noticed she was not doing well with this pregnancy. My relations with her have been much easier due to the fact we've both had challenging pregnancies." she let out a soft sigh. "She doesn't reject my presence the way Kam does... But she does not come to me for babysitting duties."
"Its time this matter was put to bed once and for all," Solusar answered. "Kam had some direct words to say to me... I listened because I knew he was right to say it. I didn't like it but that's irrelevant Jess... I heard his side and boy did he have strong words forme... But you never gave him that platform to speak his piece." Solusar answered. "What's worse was that while I was numb, you outright blamed him for what happened to James."
"I did..." Jessica Solusar answered softly. "I gave him the time to speak to me."
"No, you didn't Jess... You didn't want to hear what he had to say to you. I had the excuse of not blaming him... I buried myself in work so I could process losing our child because of a stupid accident..." Solusar sighed softly. "But you gave him real cause to hate you."
"I know." Jess sighed softly. "Do you want me coming along?"
"Of course I do. You are still his mother. Even though he might consider Torilla his mother... You are still his biological mother and its time we dealt with this... While we deal with Kam's other problems."
Whatever answer Jess was about to say was terminated. The turbolift doors opened and both stepped out of the lift. Both Solusars preparing to face a whole new battle ahead.
