"You can thank me when you're baby is born, and he or she is alive and well," Fardreamer answered in a gentle tone of voice.
Fordring nodded her head. "The little one will be, whatever it takes... I will ensure it happens... Even if it kills me in the effort..."
"Your efforts with the Dranosh'Thar ritual?" Fardreamer commented. "I looked it up after Kam mentioned it to me back in early September..." he paused. "I had no idea..."
"Its to be expected really..." The Vrykul female shrugged her shoulders. "Most people look at me and see a human female that's just scaled up in size and strength..." Fordring explained. "While I share a lot of the anatomy of a human female, including being biologically compatible with most men..." Fordring grinned softly as she added. "My species however does have a couple of things that humans don't... I have extremely strong defence's on the inside. My bones are extremely dense with a layer of titanium that naturally occurs on my homeworld... Mostly due to the amount of it that's present in the ground..." the large female shrugged. "Titanium oxide is prevalent on my world, far more than the average..." she paused. "In any event, Kam... Go on home, find your wife and spend time with her..."
Kameron nodded his head slowly. "Yeah... I'll do that..."
"Remember... She has held the billet of a Commander... This will speed her along the road to her next promotion... Which will come sooner rather than later... I can't get away with promoting her as it would piss off way too many people as she only got her rank of Lt Commander a few months ago." Fordring sighed softly. "In days gone by, the Admiral would not have cared as she would have done it and called it a day but this is something new... I'm sorry Kam but she has to wait... For how long... Let me look into the matter and I'll keep you informed... It's been far too long since I pissed someone off..." as Fordring suddenly grinned.
"I think Beth will appreciate having her own work and nobody else's to do..." Kam answered with a soft sigh.
"Counseling is requesting someone new to succeed Beth and I've got a new Doctor coming in to take over as the Starbase Veterinarian... It's not because of Beth's failings, it's because of her successes that she was able to hold these three postings for so long... She's really set the bar high and many of the medical staff simply can't meet it..."
"She paid for that level of skill and success... Rank can go to the undeserving, skill is earned." Kam answered.
"Indeed. It's also why she is the only other person on the base who is permitted access to Torilla Dvald-Vaxx as she is developing, soon to be born... But even though Elizabeth has access, she still makes sure to always ask first... Nice of her, if you ask me..." Fordring answered. "I really do not wish to lose her skillset... But I can understand if she desires to move on out of medicine and into another career field... Though I will say she worked far too much and far too hard to simply give up... I wish she wouldn't..."
"I will do what I can for you Doctor..." Kameron answered quietly. "What will happen to Beth once she returns?"
"She will be on light duty until she goes on maternity leave, about two weeks before the birth of her baby and she will remain on maternity leave for another three months... Though with the way things are going, we could be at war with the Tholians by then... She might not get her full maternity leave time... That would bother me most grievously." Fordring answered. "But if that becomes the case, she will not be leaving the Starbase for any reason and she will only be on light duties until I frankly say so... Even if it's until the heat death of the universe."
Kameron regarded the massive female in silence for a moment. "The Tholians, something's pissing them off... whatever it is... It's something here in the Reach..." he sighed. "It would be nice if they felt they could talk to us about the issue at hand... But no. They decide they want to be tough on the matter, all it'll do is piss everyone off..." Solusar-Yamaguchi paused a moment. "Wait, go back to Beth... What's the long term plan again?"
"As I said, she will be taking over for the admin staff, learning how to have a command... as I see one as do many others... Once Beth has that, her promotion to Commander will be all but guaranteed." Fordring commented. "After she gets her Commanders rank... She can opt to get a command of her own medical ship... or switch to command and head into Crusiers... Or head to the Command college and get a slot as an Executive officer on one of the Federation's newest capital class ships like Dreamcrusher or Guardian."
Fardreamer nodded his head. "If she goes to the command college... It'll remove any barriers before her, she could end up commanding an Ascension class or maybe even an Odin class later in her career... Maybe someday she'll be a Division Admiral commanding a Valhalla." Fardeamer explained. "It sounds like she has a rosy time ahead of her Kam... Most would be envious of you two."
Solusar-Yamaguchi nodded his head. "I'll talk to her and see what shakes loose."
