Facing Ones own Nightmares - Part Three

Mission:
Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Yamaguchi-Solusar Quarters - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 1630Hrs - July 18th, 2393
Lt Commander Elizabeth Yamaguchi-Solusar was feeling drained and it showed, she wanted a nice peaceful evening where she could sit down and turn her brain off for a while. Doctor Paris had gotten back to her regarding her child's DNA and she had pronounced her unborn child healthy without any of the DNA issues that had plagued her family. Paris had also said that the Akurian medical work that had been done the previous year had not come undone and the issues were still dealt with, with no chances whatsoever of them coming back.
Now Yamaguchi-Solusar wanted to take a long, hot bath and relax, she entered the quarters she shared with her husband to find him sitting on one of the chairs, playing with their son. Robert who instantly smiled. "Mamma!" he screamed loudly when Elizabeth came into her home.
Yamaguchi-Solusar reached down and scooped up her son. "Hey!" she greeted him with a wide grin on her lips before she gave him a hug. "Hey Kam."
"Hey, Beth. Did you get things sorted out?" Kameron placed down the large ball onto the deck that he had been passing to Robert.
"I did. Yes." Yamaguchi-Solusar answered as she gently handed her son off to his father. "What's odd is that neither Doctors Fordring or Paris, could find a thing wrong," she explained evenly. "You know how Kadian is."
"I have heard that she's like a rabid Sinoraptor that won't let go of her prey until its dead. That statement comes to me from Commander Fardreamer so the man must know what he's talking about."
Yamaguchi-Solusar sat down on the sofa as she watched Robert sitting in his little playpen where he had toys on demand for his attention, while his parents chatted. "Yeah, actually she's worse. Kadian Paris is easily one of the most determined and stubborn people I've ever encountered in my life." the tall female commented. "What's new with you?"
"Mostly just studying the local pulsar in this region. Eremar." Kameron explained evenly. "We're still seeing the after-effects of the Dyson swam falling onto the stars surface and its a real shame honestly."
"Dyson swarms. I've heard of them but I assume they are similar to a Dyson sphere but they are different." Yamaguchi-Solusar's ignorance on the matter was saying something.
"Yeah, a Dyson swarm is what it sounds like, a swarm of small space stations, millions of them, all orbiting the primary star, all feeding for lack of a better word, on the energy of the star," Kameron explained. "In theory, you could have trillions of these stations, all orbiting the star, all of them the size of a continent."
"Fascinating," Yamaguchi-Solusar answered as she was truly curious rather than being dismissive. "That could assist us with the habitability issues in the Federation," she commented. "Is our present tech level good enough to make it work?"
"We're getting better but no, we're not at the level yet," Kameron explained while he kept a close eye on their son while he played. "We need an ultra-heat proof metal and we're still working on it. The shielding is good for it, however."
Yamaguchi-Solusar nodded her head, even though most of what they were talking about was a mystery to her, but she at least had an interest with the subject matter. "But should something go wrong with one of these stations, it would mean disaster."
"Yeah, that's why we're not there yet," Kameron explained with a smile, he knew his wife didn't have half a clue about the ideas and concepts on the matters they were talking about but she meant well. "So, nothing about the medical issue at hand?" he inquired, mostly to clarify things.
"Nope. nadda. The little one is healthy and we will have a new child sometime around February of next year. I did not ask about the gender as I didn't check with you." Yamaguchi-Solusar responded by way of explanation to her spouse, he smiled as he nodded at her. "I did want to be surprised. I know you mentioned it to me too, but that was a while back."
Yamaguchi-Solusar smiled. "Being surprised is good, so we can discuss names... But not right this second, let's wait awhile. I want the lab guys to run a few more checks because I'm paranoid and I like being thorough." she commented as she smiled, while she glanced at their child who was still playing with his toys.
"Alright, we can discuss them later, if you prefer." Kameron smiled as he regarded his spouse.
