Babysitting - Part One

Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Yamaguchi-Cullen's Quarters - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 1730Hrs - July 19th, 2393

First Lieutenant Rachael Yamaguchi-Cullen was tired as she was dealing with the twins. T'Ree was sitting in her chair as she regarded the woman before her, she could tell that Rachael wasn't her mother but she did not seem to mind, there were no dogs around and there was nobody fighting either. The space she was in was quiet and she liked it. "din-dins?" T'Ree asked.

"Yeah," Yamaguchi-Cullen answered when there was a sudden knock on the door. "I'll be right back. Let me get the door, kids." and with that, Yamaguchi-Cullen moved over to the door to find herself face to face with her grandmother. "Hey... Since when do you knock?" Yamaguchi-Cullen asked of her grandmother with a gentle smile on her lips.

Racheal Yamaguchi returned the smile. "Well, I don't live here and it's only polite," she answered, her smile losing none of its potency.

"Well, come on in then," Yamaguchi-Cullen answered, she backed aside as the older woman moved past her. "Hey, kids." Yamaguchi greeted her young charges.

T'Ree and Hobbie were instantly happy to see their new visitor, it showed too as Yamaguchi turned to her granddaughter. "Let me take these two off of your hands for a while. You look exhausted honey. If you wanna go out to visit with friends or get some sleep. I will not complain." Racheal answered with a knowing smile.

Yamaguchi-Cullen smiled. "That would be downright lovely," she responded. "I'm gonna go take a long and hot shower, god knows I need it."

"Go enjoy yourself and I got these two. I will drop by at about this time every night from tonight and I will assist you with your burdens." Yamaguchi smiled. "This way, you are not always raising children and denying yourself. I've seen how you look at that Andorian Shen you spend time with."

Yamaguchi-Cullen paused as she looked uneasy. "Taffy and I are really just friends... with benefits." the younger woman added a moment later.

Yamaguchi smiled. "It matters not Rachael. You answer to yourself and you should enjoy life. If that means you are bedding an Andorian Shen then so long as it makes you happy then do it." she commented as she smiled at her granddaughter. "Besides. You aren't the only one with a second relationship while you were married to your husband." Racheal explained. "Well, with me it was a Bajoran female... Oh, she's long since dead now but thanks to my bodywork, I have a young woman's body and I can still make heads turn."

"I had no idea," Yamaguchi-Cullen answered. "You gonna be okay with these two?" she asked. "I could ask why," Yamaguchi-Cullen added a moment later.

"Because you are family. Also because I can help as I have the time and the interest. Go and have your shower. I'll look after these two." and with that, Yamaguchi turned back to the twins who were waiting in silence which Yamaguchi always saw as a bad thing. "What's the matter, kids?"

T'Ree regarded Yamaguchi with her eyes. "It's too quiet."

"No doggies barking," Hobbie added.

"Ah," Yamaguchi answered. "No. No dogs here, little guy," she added a moment later as she settled in to spend time with the kids. "So... Dinner then?" Rachael smiled as she recalled this time with her own children who were now all in Starfleet and many of them were Admirals and with grandkids of their own.

Meanwhile, Yamaguchi-Cullen went into the master bedroom, she slipped off her clothing until she was completely nude before she tossed all her clothing, underwear and all into the replicator to be recycled before the younger female moved into the bathroom to look after her own needs.

Rachael Yamaguchi smiled as the doorbell rang at her. She turned and moved to the door, to greet her guest when she found herself face to face with a Bajoran woman whom she did not know. "Hello, can I assist you?" Yamaguchi inquired politely.

"Hello. I'm here for my children." Iteela commented evenly.

Yamaguchi raised an eyebrow. "I think not, Ms.?" Yamaguchi inquired of the other woman before her.

"My name is Tienn Iteela," she commented. "Rachael Cullen is caring for two of my children."

"I see." Yamaguchi paused. "You'd best come in then," she added in a quiet tone.

Tienn entered Yamaguchi-Cullen's home in silence as she regarded her two children who greet her as one might expect. Tienn turned to Rachael. "I've made alternate arrangements for the caring and feeding for my children. Rachael and I are not getting along and rather than prolong the inevitable, I'd like to have my mother and her husband take in my children, rather than Rachael. She has enough children and she's also doing a full-time job whereas my mother is not." Tienn explained evenly.

"I see. We can discuss it when Rachael is finished with her shower." Yamaguchi commented as she watched the Bajoran woman interact with her children. Tienn went about fussing over her children as she had missed them and it showed. Rachael Yamaguchi held her silence as she could tell that this was a woman who did care about her children, even if her work schedule did not permit her to do much with them when she wished to do so.

About ten minutes or so later, was when the door to the master bedroom opened and out came Rachael Yamaguchi-Cullen. She regarded the two children and the two adult women before her. "Tienn. What's going on?" Yamaguchi-Cullen inquired in what she hoped was a friendly tone of voice.

Tienn regarded Yamaguchi-Cullen as the tall female let out a soft sigh. "I came to collect my children, I've made arrangements for their permanent upbringing."

The hairs on Yamaguchi-Cullen began to stand on end. "Tienn?"

"I've been reassigned away from Starbase Vanguard, back into the field. I'm to serve as Second Officer on the USS Cassini, my assignment starts on the first of the month as Terrans reckon time." she paused. "It might get pushed back though."

Yamaguchi-Cullen paused as she sighed softly. "Let's eat dinner first and then we can get these guys packed and ready to go," she commented softly.

Yamaguchi paused. "Are you two sure about this?" she asked the two women before her.

Tienn nodded. "The kids here will have a good home and a family that will; provide what they need. I can't do that and Rachael. I can't ask this of you either."

Yamaguchi-Cullen regarded Tienn. "Alright. Then let's take care of matters."
