The Sounds of January - Part Two

Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard (47)
Timeline: 1900Hrs - May 20th, 2393

Lt Commander Miko Dauntless made her way down the hallway, her large back on her back as she was a fully certified paramedic, she had both security training and medical experience. She was able to assist in either department but she much prefered to be in security these days, so she could prevent threats from arising rather than trying to react to them as they happen.

Dauntless had heard about Captain Shwren Sh'ann'Weri from a variety of sources, most of those were official but several were unofficial, one of those was the scuttlebutt which tended to say a lot without saying much of anything at all. The moderately sized human female ate fo the distance rather quickly before she entered the security annex, the place was still under construction much like the rest of the base.

Captain Shwren Sh'ann'Weri sighed softly as the tall female pushed her white locks out of her hair when she kicked over a piece of equipment that was sitting next to her desk, it fell over with a loud clattering sound. "This starbase is a pile of scrap metal." the Andorian Shen growled softly as she slapped the PADD on her desk. "Lieutenant, take this to security team five and tell them their wish has been granted, go planetside and get out of my hair please?"

"Willdo." the man answered as he accepted the PADD from her before he turned and departed when the doorbell beeped at her. "It's open!" the middle-aged Andorian female called out.

The door opened and in stepped a human female with looks that marked her as being from the Asian continent, she also carried a large backpack on her shoulders. "Hello. Lt Commander Miko Dauntless, reporting for duty sir."

"Ahh. Commander Dauntless. You're early. I wasn't expecting you for another few days." The Andorian was instantly cheered. "Come in, have a seat. any seat."

Dauntless shrugged off her pack before she selected a seat by sliding her body onto it. "I'm early?" she inquired, sounding confused. "My orders said today."

"Oh." the Andorian's lips formed a perfect letter O as she responded. "I'm sorry but my orders said three days from now and since I outrank you. My orders overrule yours." as she gave the human a look.

Dauntless nodded. "Right. So I'm simply reporting in three days early and I don't need to start right now.?"

"Correct Miko, mind if I call you Miko?" Shwren inquired.

"You may call me whatever you're heart desires, so long as I know you are addressing me." the Asian female responded with a good-natured smile. "I'm married to an Orion who loves sex way too much, it's exhausting just being around her."

"Oh, I bet," Shwren responded with a soft chuckle of her own. "How are your children doing?. Any concerns?"

"Not at present. Meridia and Gabe are settling in nicely." Dauntless answered. "Karen already sorted out their medical needs and them being enrolled in the starbase school system," she explained. "It also doesn't help that Karen has lots of time on her hands so you might be seeing her as she mentioned she wanted some combat training but that would start after our child was born."

"Wait, she's pregnant?" Shwren exclaimed.

"Yep." Dauntless chuckled softly. "As I said, she's exhausting with all the pregnancy hormones and her normal cheery self."

"Lovely." The Andorian added, a real sense of dry humor coming out in her voice. "Will that cause you issues?"

"No. I'm used to it," Dauntless answered. "My wife and I have several major outlets for various situations and concerns," she explained.
"Don't worry. I'll be fine. I'm used to being abused on a nightly basis." as she suddenly grinned at the Andorian female.

"Then I'll leave it be," Shwren answered with a soft chuckle. "Anyway. You start in three days, so take the time and see if you can find your way around the Starbase if you get lost. Don't worry. I will not be overly upset as I get lost often."

"The Starbase is still under construction. I'm surprised any of it is habitable."

"Oh yes, its partially operational, as are the criminals. So we never get a day off." Shwren answered with a soft chuckle. "We will hunt them down and make them suffer for their impudence."

"Works for me. So I'll see you in three days then?".

"Yep. Oh, you can turn in your gear with the Security Armory and they'll issue you with whatever you need and want. I want my paramedics operational as soon as you can make that happen."

"Yessir. I'll make arrangements and it'll be handled." Dauntless answered with a smile.

"Excellent Commander. Thank you." Shwren paused as she smiled. "Any questions?"

"No skipper. I think I got everything I need to go." the Asian looking female smiled at the Andorian.

"Alright, dismissed."

The Asian female rose to her feet and departed, without another word being spoken.
