The Vexation of Vaxx - Part One

Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard (47)
Timeline: 0900Hrs - May 21st, 2393

"I'm sure this assignment won't be so bad Siaxx." came the voice of a male Bolian, the wore the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer while he wore the Deep navy blue of the sciences, his posting aboard Starbase Vanguard was to be the senior petty officer for the science department while his mate who wore the rank of Commander, while wearing the red uniform of command was the new Colonial liaison officer, between them and their five children, the Vaxx-Dvald family was arriving at their new posting and home. The eldest two sons, Herar and Ma'haat, were fourteen and thirteen respectively while the twins, Xiral and Zhan were about eleven years old while their youngest, Heraxx was about a year old and his father was carrying him.

"Perhaps but you never had to deal with that woman," Dvald-Vaxx answered, a soft growl at the back of her throat as her hatred of the trill female who had seemingly disappeared about a year earlier had only just started to cool recently.

Vaxx regarded his mate, a cool look in his eyes as he knew that Siaxx would not calm down until she was good and ready, no amount of attempts from him could change these details. "You know better than most about what happened Chen." as Siaxx regarded her husband.

"I do," he answered flatly. "You should have been given the Manticore and been left alone to settle in but no, that crap with the other Siaxx caused us both no shortage of issues, both large and small." Vaxx then sighed quietly.

Ma'haat Vaxx-Dvald was thirteen years old but he was tall and large for his age, he regarded his mother with a careful eye as he knew better than to aggravate her further but he asked anyway. "Will there be other kids here?, on the Starbase, I mean"

"Yes son, there will be," Dvald-Vaxx answered her son, a gentle smile on her face, "Lots of kids." Siaxx's son had not angered but her temper was not what was bothering her. Siaxx could see the look of concern in the eyes of her sons. "We'll be there shortly. We'll go aboard and then we'll go settle in." Dvald-Vaxx commented with a smile. "I have it on good authority that a lot of children will be aboard this base."

Vaxx smiled as the eight Bolians rounded a corner and approached the guard's checkpoint at the airlock to the Starbase.

The four security guards looked to be bright and alert as Vaxx nodded. "Morning El tee, permission to go aboard the starbase?" he inquired as he handed eight PADD's to the Lieutenant at the door.

The human female smiled as she accepted the PADD's "Let me give you guys a quick once-over. Sorry Master Chief, new security regs, everyone gets checked, no exceptions."

Vaxx nodded, it was all part of his expectations. They were being met, he was happy to note. "Of course El-tee. Please proceed."

The Lieutenant looked over the PADD's as she quickly checked the information as two guards did a quick scan of each member of the Dvald-Vaxx family, this was also expected and known so nobody protested. Heraxx however simply closed his small eyes and promptly fell asleep.

Dvald-Vaxx blinked. "El-tee, if security doesn't work out for you then you have a permanent job offer as a babysitter. I've never seen him do that with anyone else before." Siaxx commented on seeing her youngest son fall asleep.

The human female smiled as there were a few soft chuckles around. "Thanks for the wait Master Chief, Commander. All is in order and you guys can go aboard."

"Thanks, El Tee." and with that, Vaxx picked up the duffel he had placed on the countertop, he had been searched with a tricorder scan, which had removed any need to open bags and the like.

The group of eight proceeded through the airlock and onto Starbase Vanguard proper, where they were met with another Bolian female, this one looked much like Siaxx only she was far younger. "Cheleya." Siaxx gently hugged her niece who was bigger then she herself was. "How are you doing?"

"I'm managing." the bitten off response was telling to Siaxx's trained ear, her niece wasn't having a good day today. "Come on with us then and we can help," Vaxx commented to his wife's niece.

"Yeah. Sounds good." Dvald sounded distant, that was until Siaxx gently took her hand. "Cheleya, its gonna be okay. I'm going to go and report in, about twenty minutes or so, do you want to come with?"

"Yeah, I can help you find your way on this massive starbase," Dvald responded, in a quiet tone of voice. "This way." the taller Bolian female added before she turned and led the way down the hall in mute silence.

Dvald-Vaxx knew that this was not the young woman who had served on Roanoke a year earlier but she also knew why too, she also knew that Chen knew as well, as Siaxx had regained her husband with the story more than once.
