A Father, Daughter Dance: Many Meetings

Posted on Mon Mar 9th, 2020 @ 12:11am by Division Admiral Talon Yeager & Lieutenant Commander Monique Deepshadow & Lieutenant Samantha "Sammy" Yeager & Post Captain Davijaan "Oddball" Yeager

Mission: Mission 70: Children and the Workplace do Not Mix
Location: The Ryazar's Shield - Low orbit over B Kayor
Timeline: 0900Hrs - April 7th, 2392

Lieutenant junior grade Samantha Yeager or 'Sammy' as she prefered to be called by friends and family or 'Sam' for short, exited the transport that was detailed to bring her and two dozen others to his massive ship of the line. She was looking forward to spending some time with her father whom she missed, she was also eager to get to know the new members of her rather sizeable family.

She went over to the main entrance of the hanger, exiting it in short order before she turned left and began making her way down the hallway towards the family quarters. Sammy tapped her combadge. "Yeager to Yeager."

There were two responses, one of them was male and the second was female. "Yeager here." they said at the same time. Sammy smiled. "Hey guys. I'm here, where are you?"

Talon's response came back first. "I'm up on the command deck, sitting my watch but I should be done in a few hours once I hear back from April Yamaguchi regarding my assignment."

"Sounds like fun." Sammy responded with a smile on her lips. "You guys still living in the same space that I remember?"

"Yeah. Come on and I'll introduce you to Monique." came the voice of her father who had held his silence, clearly wanting his wife to answer first.

"Monique.. Okay.." Sammy suddenly felt leery about this, she knew that something had happened between her dad and a woman named Monique Deepshadow but nobody was saying much and her father least of all, even Talon wasn't saying much but then she didn't seem too bothered by it. Sammy reached her destination shortly, entering the family living space as she found her father playing chess with a young woman, who clearly shared many of his looks but she had no Klingon ancestry so she wasn't a relation to Samantha herself. "Hey guys."

Davijaan raised his hand. "Come on over and save me from being clobbered for my sins."

Sammy dropped her duffel at the door as she made her way over to her father who embraced her. "Samantha Yeager, meet Monique Deepshadow.. Your half sister."

"Half sibling?" Samantha echoed as she disentangled herself from her father, she then gently shook the other woman's outstretched hand. "So.. you are the legendary Monique I keep hearing about."

Monique regarded Davijaan with a soft smile. "Just what are you telling people about me?" she inquired, a good natured grin on her face. "Lies I tell you.. Whatever he's said... It's not true."

Samantha decided she liked this woman across from her instantly. "So I have an adult sister. Excellent."

Monique likewise regarded the part Klingon female before her with a smile, she gently shifted over so Samantha could sit down on the sofa, which she did. "So.. Whats new around here Monique...?"

"Well I work as an Engineer on the USS Dreamcrusher and... I have rather unusual abilities from a previous mission."

Samantha regarded her, a curious look on her face. "How so?"

"Well I had an ancient artificial intelligence upload itself into my brain. The personality was lost after it sacrificed itself to allow me to live but I kept its knowledge and its abilities.."

"That sounds painful." Yeager responded quietly as she regarded the other woman next to her. "How much of your brain can you use?"

"All of it. I can merge with a computer for a short time so I can do work on it." she explained. "I also think as fast as a computer... But it costs me in terms of energy. So I tend to eat very large meals to compensate for this." she added as she gently picked up a PADD that was empty. "Let me show you how it works."

Yeager nodded her head as Davijaan regarded his second daughter in silence. "Alright... Let me write an engineering report.." Monique was saying as her eyes suddenly flared from blue to a bright flame orange color. Yeager almost leapt out of her seat as this happened while words began appearing on the PADD, far too fast for Yeager to track.

Yeager settled down a moment later when Monique's eyes faded back to blue and she handed Samantha the PADD. Sammy accepted it and began reading. "This would have taken me an hour to write.. You just wrote this... in front of us both."

Monique nodded. "Yeah. Also your father is a good chess player.. However I can anticipate his moves before he makes them." she sighed apologetically. "Sorry dad."

"Its fine. You were kicking my ass anyway." Yeager responded with a smile, meanwhile one of the nearby doors opened and out walked a small child who looked about ten or eleven years old. "Hey Noel. Are you feeling better sweetie?"

Samantha recalled hearing of Noel from her father who mentioned it was one of his wife's greatest wishes to have Noel returned to her. "I guess the court case went well then?" she inquired of nobody in particular.

Noel came over. "Hey Dad.. I'm feeling alright... Thanks for letting me sleep it off.." as Davijaan gently grasped her around the midsection before he bodily hauled the eleven year old onto his lap with a shout of surprise from the child.

Sammy chuckled softly. "Its okay sweetie. Dad did that to me all the time when I was younger then you up to when I was." she paused. "a bit older then you."

Monique sighed softly but she held her silence.

Noel spotted it first. "You okay?"

"Yeah... Don't take this the wrong way... but I'm envious... of you guys." Monique admitted. "My m om was... less then decent at times."

Davijaan felt a surge of anger towards Leah for the usual reasons. "Your mother didn't tell me about you sweetie.. Had I known-" Monique stopped him as she gently placed her hand on his shoulder. "What happened wasn't your fault Dad."

Noel regarded Monique. "But.. thats the whole point, isn't it?" the small child inquired. "Not knowing."

Monique and Sammy both regarded the small child who clearly was an expert on what she was talking about. "I don't understand." Sammy responded softly. "Or.. more to the point.. Do I want to know?"

Davijaan gently rubbed Noel's shoulders, clearly she was upset and he knew this, so he gently tried to calm her. "Its okay sweetie.. You do not need to share what happened with anyone... I can tell Monique and Sammy later.."

"No.." Noel paused. "What happened was that while mom... that is Talon was off on assignment, I was placed into care by her first husband... he hated me and didn't care who knew it... Even Grandma and Grandpa Hunt didn't like it... at the trial..." she paused. "Well.. Lets just say things got stupid."

Sammy smiled. "Commander Rabb came to see me about what was needed, he interviewed me on the matter but he didn't need me as a character witness apparently."

"Rabb..." Noel paused. "Ah, he was the nice one."

"They put you up on the stand... didn't they?" Monique inquired, in a gentle tone of voice.

"Yes."

"Now thats just criminal." Monique responded.

"Yes it is... But Noel had to be allowed to tell her side of the story and she made me so happy when she did." Yeager explained.

Noel smiled. "Don't worry Monique. You are in good company... Now that we know who Dad is.. Things can only improve... Right?"

Monique smiled. "Yes. exactly."
