Mission:
Mission 76: The Winter of My Discontent
Location: Various Locations - USS Dreamcrusher
Timeline: 1545Hrs - April 4th, 2392
Commander Tom Lasky sighed softly as his feet almost took him down the hallway to his destination, his mind was reeling with the after effects of what he had just done earlier this day and while he was processing the news, he knew he would need to deal with this problem and move on as quickly as possible.
To that end, Lasky had decided he needed to go and resolve issues with three people who otherwise were almost family to him. Torilla Yamaguchi because while she had been irresponsible, she had also given him a child that Elizabeth her own daughter had brought to term, sacrificing a lot to ensure that Kurt was given a chance at life. Lasky knew that Torilla was seriously considering an abortion at the time she learned she was pregnant as Lasky was still processing the news to give her a solid answer.
He had waited almost too long but it was Elizabeth who had assumed that his answer would be yes who ensured that the child developing within Torilla Yamaguchi, his son would grow up to become his son.
Lasky's mind was a swirl of hatred and recriminations, thoughts and accusations about his past mistakes, all of which swirled around in his mind like a hypercane of self-loathing and rage, with himself at the center of it all.
Lasky went into the transporter room on the USS Roanoke, in truth if one had to ask him he couldn't tell you as he didn't even know where he was anymore. "One to beam over to the USS Dreamcrusher please Chief."
"Aye Commander." came the response as the young woman waved Lasky over to the transporter pad. "Pick one, any one." she then chuckled, partly at his reaction and to her own joke.
Lasky chose to ignore it while he stepped onto the pad before she noded. "Energizing sir." and with that he was beamed away.
Moments later he appeared in a similar transporter room, except this one was better lit, it was also in far better shape and was also twice the size as the one he had just left. "Permission to come aboard Chief?"
"Granted Commander, Welcome aboard... Can I direct you somewhere?"
"No thanks Chief... I know who I am here to see and.... where they may be located." Lasky responded softly. "I'd best get to it... Thank you though for the offer."
"Of course sir..." and with that Lasky went out the door before he went down the hallway, he went ten meters down the hallway before he tapped the corridor mounted wall display. "Computer?" Lasky asked softly.
"Working?" came the response.
"Locate Lieutenant's Elizabeth and Kameron Yamaguchi?"
"Lieutenant Kameron Yamaguchi is located in the training center and Elizabeth is located in her office."
"Is Elizabeth busy at the present time?"
"Affirmative, she is presently seeing a patient."
"Understood." Lasky responded. "Where is the training center located.?"
"Deck Ten, section twenty." the computer responded.
"Do not display the route or indicate my presence..." Lasky requested. "I know my way around..."
"Affirmative." came the computers response before Lasky set off down the hallway towards his destination, reaching it after a few minutes of travel but he honestly had no idea of what he would say to Kameron to get him to listen to what he had to say. All the ways he visualized the conversation ended as dead ended failures or that Kameron would outright brush him off.
Lasky had left this issue alone for far too long, no matter what happened, he was determined to deal with this enemy today, no matter what it took, no matter the cost to himself.
Lasky entered the training center as Lieutenant Kameron Yamaguchi placed a rather large mug of something hot down on the plate before he went back to work. "Commander.... What can I do for you?"
"I'm Sorry Kameron... For everything." Lasky came right out with it, wanting to get it out quickly before Kam Yamaguchi could counter.
Kameron's eyes widened slightly in surprise, he had not been expecting this on today of all days. "You'll forgive me if I am somewhat astonished by that statement Commander..." he paused as he sat back, he breathed in and then back out. "Alright... This is something Elizabeth should be present for.."
"I owe you an apology separate to the one I owe your wife." Lasky responded quietly.
"Indeed you do.." Yamaguchi responded before he nodded. "I tell ya what... Come back in fifteen minutes and I'll be finished here for the day.... You look like you need a drink and Elizabeth and I should be present for this..."
"I understand.." Lasky nodded, it was still better then nothing which was honestly what he had expected.
Kameron could tell that there was something that was really gnawing at his old mentor so he decided he would finish early for a change. "Wait.... On second thought... lets go for a walk." and with that, Kameron gathered his things before slipping everything into the messenger bag that his wife had gotten him for christmas the previous year, before he signed out and he then told the computer to long him as gone off watch. Kameron had stayed late the last several days so going off watch early for him was a nice change.
Kameron stood up. "Lets go back to my place... You look like you need a drink... and Elizabeth is busy with a patient." as Kameron led the older man out of the training area.
"I've kept an eye on you Kam..." Lasky commented. "You'll be senior staff of Dreamcrusher upon graduation. You did well... and I heard you sorted things out with you father."
"I did... I worked hard for it.."
Lasky figured that it was time. In for a penny, in for a pound as the old saying went. "Why didn't you figure you could come to me?."
"Well lets see... You were ferociously defensive of Zara to just about everyone... Dammit man you nearly killed the woman I call mom...Or did you forget that?"
"I forgot nothing... I need to talk to her today... After you and I chat."
Kameron raised an eyebrow. "Okay, whats going on?" Kameron finally shook his head as if not believing something he was seeing before him or something he had figured out.
"I was wrong... About everything... All My mistakes were because I didn't see what was in front of me... My errors in judgement were-"
"No... You made three mistakes.." kameron responded, cutting him off. "But we should not have this chat here... Its too public."
Lasky nodded. "After you."
About ten minutes of tension filled silence later. Lasky followed Kameron Yamaguchi into his quarters. He had asked the computer to leave a note for his wife asking her to come home as soon as she could, for there was a matter that involved a family friend that needed her presence R.F.N.
Lasky knew fully well that he was no friend of this family and that the only reason every other Yamaguchi wasn't clamoring for his head was because Torilla wasn't letting them get to him, however this might change after today.
Lasky produced a small PADD as he tapped one button on it before he set uit on a nearby table. "For the record... So I can keep a copy... So the next time I do something truly stupid, I'll have you on record telling me that..."
Kameron regarded the display. "It'll help Elizabeth as I have a funny feeling she might be counseling you after this."
"I suspect I'll need some serious time off after this.." Lasky responded with a gentle sigh.
