Mission:
Mission 72: T'Would Ring the Bells of Heaven
Location: Zekarria
Timeline: 1100 hrs - Mar 28th 2392
The leading officers and Sergent majors for 47th Regimental Command Battalion, 3/47, and 4/47 where out scouting an area for their marines to do a field exercise. Due to the planets extremely long day night cycle, it was still dark out, however it wasn't completely black thanks to the light provided from the gas giant.
Jiroko looked up at the sky saying. "This wouldn't be a bad place to live, the night sky certainly is pretty out."
Jimkilli, a lion type caitians and one of the few caitians whom was actually wearing clothing, commented. "Eh, nights are a little long and cold for my taste."
Rosa Tyrell smiled, as the tall Bolian female looked up at the other personnel gathered, she had been looking at her tricorders display. "Its not bad actually... I for one like it here." she explained. "If I want to camp out and remain under the moonlight for days in comparison to other planets then I simply take a tent, my gear and go planetside for a few days... Its great... but thats me." the Bolian female with a human name explained.
Tragg Highmountain snorted gently but that was because his species was descended from a form of bovine or a bovine lookalike. "Well I for one... find this world a little too cold for my liking.. I am not a Yaungol or a Taunika, I am Tauren... I grew up on grasslands.. not mountains or arctic worlds."
Kusekari didn't comment on the matter, instead she stuck her nose in the air to enjoy the cool mountain hair when she smelled something that she didn't quite expect. "Ohh, I smell blood, and a lot of it."
Raskar had yet to notice it, responding. "Eh, there is wildlife on the planet, probably some predator had slaughtered a goat or something."
Kusekari sniffed the air and recognized the scent, "nope, its human."
Jimkilli then caught the scent saying," Yeah I smell it too."
Tragg Highmountain turned. "Smell what?" he inquired. "guys?" he inquired.
Rosa Tyrell had her tricorder out. "wind is coming from the north west." the Bolian commented. "that way." she indicated the direction where the scent was coming from.
None of the Caitians present needed the Tricorder to direct them to the source, as the smell became increasingly obvious. After a few minutes of trekking through the woods, they ran into two Kurokuri, Ryuukei and Arumi. Rasker asked. "You picking up the smell too."
Ryuukei nodded with a concerned look," Yeah, I do."
Looking around, Raskar spotted the faint glow of a light source somewhere in the woods, so the group headed there. There, in a small clearing near the edge of a cliff, they found a tent and a hovercar. They could hear the sound of music coming from the tent. Ryuukei, whom was actually armed, pulled out his weapon and activated his personal energy shields, saying. "I'll lead."
Highmountain regarded him. "As you wish..." his tone said something else entirely.
Tyrell had her sidearm out but she regarded the smallest being in the crowd but rather then protest his choice, she opted to simply keep her mouth shut and keep him within sight. He turned to her fellow marines, they all knew what to do as they began to move so someone had Ryuukei in sight at all times.
Tyrell meanwhile moved so she was now standing behind a nearby tree but not right up next to it.
Ryuukei, cautious as ever, heard movement in the tent, but he could smell a lot of blood, and flesh. He quickly opened the tent flap, only to see the goriest sight he had ever seen in a long time. If he was human, he probably would be puking right about now, but Kurokuri were still a largely predatory species, so the sight of the mess didn't disturb him that badly, but it was still disturbing. In front of him was the chopped up remains of a man, organs and body parts scattered everywhere. The floor was covered in blood. He heard some munching sounds in the back and investigated, only to startle a fox chewing on a piece of flesh. The surprised animal quickly ran into a corner of the tent, and hid under a table. Seeing that no other people where in the Tent, Ryuukei stuck his head out the Tent. "Its all clear, but fair warning guys, its pretty disgusting in here."
Tyrell blinked her eyes in surprise. "What the hell happened in here?" before she gagged, she caught it in time before she turned and ran a few dozen feet before she proceeded to throw up.
Tragg Highmountain growled softly. "Who did this?" he knew that this was not the work of wild animals. "Does this planet even have wildlife that can do this sort of damage?" he knew it was more or less a rhetorical question.
Ryuukei looked at the frightened fox, commenting. "Well, there is a fox in here, but I doubt that little guy is capable of this."
Raskar walked in and his face immediately showed Disgust, "Oh wow, this, ugh." He then found a combadge, and figured out whom it belonged to. "OK, so this man is Private James bremer, USS Courageous."
He then tapped his combadge. "Raskar Wuko to Colonel John Burgoyne, Uh, I found one of your marines, also we are going to need medics down here and a criminal investigator."
"Burgoyne here." came the response as the man was seated behind his desk, he growled softly. "Bremer... What the fuck has he done this time...?" as he mentaly answered his own question with an answer. 'Well I won't know just standing here...' he sighed softly. "I'm on my way Colonel. Burgoyone out." and with that he tapped his combadge before he went out the door to the transporter room being his next destination.
While he went down the hallway. Burgoyne tapped his combadge. "Burgoyne to sickbay." he sighed.
"Haig here. Whats up Colonel?"
"I need to borrow a few of your medics... apparently James 'The Bastard' Bremer has gone and done something really stupid so I need a few of your medics... can I borrow my wife from you in particular... and I need a criminal investigator?"
"Sure... I'll send you a few medics." Haig responded.
Several minutes later. On the planet surface Burgoyne appeared with his wife beside him and four other medics in addition to Warrick Brown who had arrived separately.
Major Rosa Tyrell went over to Burgoyne before she indicated where he was to go. "Right over there Colonel." the female Bolian explained.
"Thanks." Burgoyne responded. "Come on guys... Lets go see what mess Bremer has created for us."
Calliope Pravdin growled. "If there are children involved. I will remove his manhood permanently." she growled before she moved forward.
Burgoyne nodded to Raskar Wuko. "Hey.. whats going on?" he indicated the tent. "Do I even wanna see what this shitstain has created this time?"
Raskar looked at the Tent while Ryuukei came out, the kurokuri no longer able to stand the smell," Yeah, he made a mess alright, you might want to look at it for yourself though."
Burgoyne sighed. "Alright...Bremer, you fuck up of a marine... If you-" he yelled as he went into the tent when he suddenly skidded to a halt. "Woah!" he yelled loudly. "Holy shit!!"
Pravdin moved into the tent to see what had taken her husband by surprise, when she too skidded to a halt. "Holy... fucking... crap.." she got out. "What in Zeus's asshole happened in here.?"
Warrick Brown meanwhile poked his head inside before he turned to regard the other personnel present. "Alright... You all know the regs... My day just got written off... I'll need statements from all of you on ..." he sighed as he spoke. "This.." he indicated the tent.
Ryuukei was about to say something when Bremers eyes suddenly moved. His fur stood on end at the movement. "Um, guys, that head, the eyes just moved."
Major Rosa Tyrell peered into the tent as she spokked the head. "Guys... What is that?"
"What.."
"That" she pointed, indicating with her entire arm. "That... spider thing."
Brown came in as he regarded it. "Thats a human head thats been mounted as a trophy. Jesus.. We got a sick one... Colonel Burgoyne... You have to see this one for yourself."
"Yeah." as Burgoyne came over, followed by Lieutenant Pravdin. "Whats up... Woah.. What ... is that!"
Tyrell shook her head as she bent down, she picked it up with both hands, as Bremer's eyes opened. Tyrell let out an earsplitting scream at the top of her lungs before she tossed the spider like thing into the air, she turned and fled as fast as her legs would carry her, it wasn't long before she was well outside the camp and she was gone. Wailing at the top of her lungs in terror, it wasn't long before her screams faded to nothing.
Meanwhile Warrick Brown blinked. "Well... this.. is new.." he swallowed as he realized that this thing, such as it was, was indeed alive. "Alright.. enough of this shit... Send this up to... the criminal science lab on Roanoke.. and tell them that this is some weird and fucked up shit."
Pravdin handled the head that had been attached to a walking platform, her gore rising in her chest as she swallowed. "Oh good god." she sighed as she had it beamed up the ship before she turned went out of the tent she made it a few dozen feet before she threw up. "I'm going to murder. whoever did thiss..." she whimpered softly, more to herself then anyone else.
Burgoyne sighed. "Yeah... so .... Ding dong the bastards dead.."
"Sing em high... sing em low..." Pravdin got in a moment later, though her singing sounded more like someone groaning rather then singing but as far as Burgoyne was concerned, it was the thought that count.
Ryuukei wasn't sure if he wanted to mention this or not, but he decided to anyway. "Well, it is worth noting, unless there is something in there that prevents it, it would be technically possible for us to regenerate his body with our technology."
Burgoyne shook his head. "No.. He's not worth regenerating. He's one step shy of a full on criminal and he's known as 'the bastard' for more then one reason..."
Pravin smiled before she frowned. "No... save your efforts for those who actually need it... Not... him." she indicated the pile of limbs present which Warrick Brown was presently taking pictures of.
"What the fuck is that.... Oh wait...a Fox.!" someone called as a small Fox came put of the tent with a chunk of Bremer between its jaws.
Brown sighed. "I do this under protest." as he drew his sidearm and in a stunning display of tactical precision, he proceeded to stun the Fox with one shot.
"Protest what?" Pravdin inquired.
"Stunning the Fox... He's gotta eat too, you know" Brown responded.
"A fair point... You can always feed him something good after you check him over."
"I'll get Lieutenant Yamaguchi off of the Dreamcrusher to handle that." as he called for a beam up for the Fox to the vet on the Dreamcrusher. "Yes Lieutenant, give him the once over, make sure he didn't digest any bits of this. body and let me know what you find okay?"
Elizabeth Yamaguchi's voice came back. "Copy that. I'm on it. Out." and with that the com returned to silence.
Pravin smiled, despite her sour mood. "I'm gonna go find something to do." and with that she turned and walked out of the tent.
Ryuukei didn't say anything further on the subject so he simply left the tent, no longer able to stand the smell.
Brown inhaled deeply. "Ahhh nothing the stench of failure to make my life complete." and with that he opened the tent flap to help ventilate the stench somewhat as he went to work. "Alright guys... fill out the reports I'll need those and... anyone who don't need to be here. thank you for ruining your days standing here with me. Now.. If you please."
Meanwhile Darktail whom was standing at the edge noticed something else, another body, so he signaled. "Hey guys, I think i found a second body."
Burgoyne turned his head as he tapped his combadge. "On my way." he commented, he made is way over to where Darktail was located. "Whats up?"
Darktail pointed down the cliff. "Second body it looks like."
Burgoyne peered down at it. "How can you tell?" he inquired. "Just looks like a dark sludge to me."
Warrick Brown emerged a moment later. "How the heck do we get down there without drawing on a shuttle?"
Ryuukei sighed then added. "I can use my abilities to teleport you down there." He then put out his hand. "Take my hand."
Brown gave the smaller being a rather dubious look, but he did as requested. "Alright.... How does this-" was as far as he got before the two of them simply vanished.
"-Work?" Brown was inquiring before he looked around. "That... was cool." he added a moment later. "Alright.. Let me handle this and you.... enjoy the scenery."
Ryuukei looked briefly at the dead mans corpse, his skull had been cracked wide open and was empty on the inside. "Well, this one looks like a no brainer."
"Death by falling.." Brown explained. "Yeah I got everything I need. I'm not removing this man's corpse.. I can do that later."
Ryuukei held out his hand. "I take it you want to go back."
"Yeah. my first chunk of work is done here." he commented. "I'd say there is about a third of his body here... whoever this guy was... when he impacted, it got splattered all over the place and as a result, most of it isn't here, either splattered down the cliff or lost through blood drainage." he then shrugged. "I was honestly prepared to rule this one as a complete loss..." he added before he gently took Ryuukei's hand and the two blinked back to the position where they were earlier.
"I gotta get me that ability. it'll be so useful to me." Brown commented. "It'll certainly help me get from place to place." Brown paused. "I'll get this stuff up to the ship and get my guys to work on sorting out just what the fuck happened here.." the CSI then tapped his combadge and called for a beam up. Moments later he vanished in a haze of transport energy and was gone.
