Mission: Mission 73: Near Misses and Close Encounters
Location: Captains Ready Room - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1100Hrs - March 20th, 2392

Warrant Officer Rachael Yamaguchi was standing watch at the Engineering Pool table as it was nicknamed, she was seated while she was busy running a systems check on the ships starboard EPS coupling, she had seen some readings she didn't like earlier.

Elivar Okolio walked over to Rachael, along with Hakaya. "Rachael, do you have a minute."

Rachael raised an eyebrow. "Sure... Guys.. I've been at this an hour.. and I intend to be gone by noon.." she sighed, thinking she was in trouble.

Hakaya shook her head. "No that's not what we are here for, Teval wants to see you in his office, regarding yesterdays incident, and another issue that has popped up."

Rachael sighed softly. "Alright.." she turned to her teammate. "You okay with this?."

"Yeah Rachael.. I got this.. you go get that ... issue dealt with." the young man responded evenly.

"Okay.. I'll go see the skipper then." Rachael let out a sigh, thinking would this crap ever end for her.

Hakaya then went back to work as Yamaguchi walked out of engineering, while Elivar followed, Rachael tapped her combadge. "Rachael Yamaguchi to Saki Yamaguchi?"

"Yes Mom?" her child answered almost instantly.

"Well.. I'm wanted by the skipper and.. So are you. So get yourself over to Roanoke and lets go see what Teval wants us for... Because I can guarantee you are involved."

A sigh could be heard. "Yes mom... I'm on my way."

"I'll meet you at transporter room two in five minutes and Saki...?"

"Yes mom?"

"Do not keep me waiting.." Rachael responded quietly. "I don't like it...and neither will Teval."

"Alright... I'm on my way.." Saki tapped her combadge before she tugged her boots on, then she secured the two cats inside the bathroom so they wouldn't escape from her quarters, then out the door she went to the transporter room.

Saki reached her destination a minute or so later, before she beamed over to transporter room two, she stepped off of the padd, the door opened and in walked Rachael. "Ahh good.. come on.."

Saki went over and out the door with her mother. The two made their way to Teval's office, she knocked on the door and was permitted access, finding herself face to face with Siaxx Dvald, Torilla Yamaguchi and Zuko Omakan.

Rachael raised an eyebrow. "Well.." she paused. "Warrant Officer First Class Rachael Yamaguchi reporting as ordered."

Elivar quietly walked in and Teval directed him to stand near Torilla, he then turned his attention to Rachael," Warrant Officer Yamaguchi, do you know why I have called you up here."

"I have my guesses." she paused as she indicated Siaxx. "Because of her." Saki meanwhile sat down in her grandmothers lap.

Teval gave a disapproving glance to Siaxx whole Zuko mentioned.
"That is part of it, but the other part is the absolutely childish immature behavior on both of your parts."

Torilla Yamaguchi was seated in silence, she regarded both her daughter and her friend while she gently held onto her granddaughter. "Teval... Perhaps we should move on?" she inquired. "Rachael... You two were called here because of various issues... Not just because of your private or rather public feud."

Teval nodded. "Yes, right, so the first order of business. Regarding your daughter, Rachael. Someone on Tranquility hangar deck was not too amused at Saki saying sex jokes across the hangar bay and using racial slurs, so now child services is coming over because of this report to investigate if you are a worthy mother."

Rachael turned to Siaxx. "Sounds like Phoenix opens her mouth a little too often... I already screamed at Zara for this kind of crap... Now I need to go yell at her and you too." she sighed. "I'm getting a little sick and tired of this endless shit.."

Siaxx glared darkly at the younger woman. "No.. I will yell at her... Deal with your own house first.."

Rachael returned the small Bolian woman's dark glare with one of her own. "Amusing... Coming from you. Whats this all about Siaxx... I knew you had your issues but this is low.. even for you."

"How dare you!" Siaxx responded a trifle hotly. "You little bitch!"

If the scene wasn't so comical, it would already be amusing to Torilla but she knew this needed to end and it needed to be ended now. "Enough!" Torilla snapped loudly.. "Knock this off... Both of you.!" she snarled angrily. "I expect better then this behavior from you two... Nix and Tressa behave better then this... and they are toddlers!"

Rachael growled softly but otherwise said nothing as her mother continued. "I'm saying this so he-" she indicated Teval as she spoke "-Doesn't have to say it.."

Siaxx glowered at Torilla but otherwise said nothing.

Zuko this time had no further patience. "If either of you talk out of line again, expect chapter paperwork to be coming your way. Now, do I have your undivided attention, or should I just have you both kicked out of the fleet right now."

Rachael glowered at the small Bolian but she sat back and resolved to keep her mouth shut. She however was highly tempted to simply tell Zuko to get on with it and chapter her out regardless.

The eldest Yamaguchi in the room took a moment to speak up as she rose to her feet, she regarded Rachael in silence as she did so before Torilla went over to the replicator and proceeded to get a drink for everyone. "Okay guys, lets take a moment... to calm down before someone says something incredibly stupid. Looking at you Siaxx.."

Siaxx glowered at her old friend but otherwise said nothing. Rachael fought to calm down as she received her drink, she nodded her thanks.

Torilla sat back down as she handed Saki her drink in silence. Saki meanwhile was sitting next to her grandmother on the sofa, in silence. "Now... Teval... I believe you were going to explain why all of us... are here.." Torilla said quietly. "The floor... such as it is... is yours."

Teval first addressed Rachael. "Now Rachael, first thing is first, what do you think is the main reason why Saki is acting out so much."

Rachael paused as she considered it. "Well... I assume its because she's had all of my time and attention since she was born... Whenever she needed me... I was always there." Rachael suddenly sighed. "and she got used to it.."

Meanwhile Torilla simply smiled at the turn of the conversation while from under the sofa, one of the cats emerged as she looked around before yawning loudly. Shadow hopped up on the sofa before she let out a protest of displeasure at the sight of Saki sitting on her perch. Saki turned her head. "Is this your place kitty?" she inquired.

Shadow blinked her eyes once before she meowed. Saki gently picked her up before she gently cuddled with kitty. "Don't worry... even though we're just meeting... I'll be good to you."

Shadow settled into Saki's arms almost instantly, as she peered at the strange child with her golden eyes. "Are you thirsty?" Saki asked of the cat as she allowed the cat to sniff at her drink. "Its just water." Saki explained for everyone elses benefit as Shadow began to help herself to the water on offer, the cats tongue lapping up the water on offer out of Saki's glass.

Torilla observed in silence before she sipped her drink.

Teval nodded. "Well, and your stupid antics with Siaxx have also been a horrible influence, on top of Phoenix's antics and Zara's, but the latter has been dealt with. But you have an idea. So how much time on average, do you spend with her per day."

Rachael sighed. "Not enough.." she paused a moment. "Maybe thirty minutes at breakfast then I'm off to work... Ennis drops her off at school... and I don't see her again until about six...when I get off work.."

Torilla regarded her daughter, her displeasure was written all over her face but she managed to not say anything nasty. "Saki..."

"Yes grandma Torilla?" the small child inquired.

"When we're finished here, go home, pack your things... You're coming home with me..." she commented softly.

"Mom."

"Rachael... You... Disappoint me... There is a reason I'm only getting to Captain now... That was because I sacrificed my career for you and your siblings.. and look how you three... turned out... Gabe and Elizabeth are both successful with their careers... Gabe the best so because he has ensured that either him or Savannah has the time to spend with their children and Elizabeth isn't rushing headlong into parenthood with the grace of the pregnant Horta that you have become..." Torilla responded. "You Must learn balance Rachael." Torilla paused as she sighed and then inhaled to replace the oxygen she had expended. "Working long hours like this is simply unacceptable... You have neglected your child... and While I am sure that Sarah doesn't really worry about it, I'm guessing its also because she too has been neglected... So I will step in to fill this rather massive void... I will pick up your children from school and babysit until either yourself or Ennis is available."

Rachael paused as she let out a sigh. Torilla turned to Elivar. "Are you Rachael's front line supervisor?"

"I am." Elivar answered apprehensively.

"Okay..." Torilla answered evenly. "I'd like to make a couple of requests of you... If I may... I know the system was set up to catch the dogfuckers and the useless... -" she speared her daughter with a glance as she spoke. "Not the special cases among us. So.. If you are amenable to it... I'd like to request that Rachael here be in at eight and out at noon.."

Elivar nodded but didnt say anything

Torilla smiled before turning back to Rachael. "You have four hours a day to do your work... Its not like we're out in the field.. We've been orbiting this glass M Eight moon for weeks and we will probably be here for awhile yet... However.. I will assist you in matter where you're children are concerned because of the child services issue.. You like digging holes for yourself..."

Zuko seemed satisfied with Torilla's explanation so he turned his attention to Siaxx, "Now Commander Dvald, you mind telling me what you did wrong." Teval meanwhile gave Rachael a look clearly telling her to keep her mouth shut.

Rachael shifted her attention to Siaxx in silence, she was curious as to what the small Bolian was about to say.

"I slapped her daughter.." Siaxx commented quietly. "I also... told her what I thought bluntly."

Zuko nodded then asked. "Alright, so tell me, what gives you the right to discipline someone else's child without their permission.

Siaxx glared a trifle hotly at Zuko but there wasn't much she could say as she sighed softly. Torilla smiled not unkindly. "Siaxx... What were you thinking at the time..?" the large woman inquired.

"I... I don't recall..." Siaxx admitted.

"Is it possible that perhaps you were thinking about what you wanted to say... that you had written out the entire conversation in your head of how you and Rachael here were going to talk about it... and you had already assumed that Rachael wouldn't give you the time of day... you got there and you blew up because you were already so angry you could not see straight.... "

Siaxx regarded Torilla in silence.

"How'm I doing?" the tallest Yamaguchi in the room suddenly smiled.

"Umm... I'd say... pretty good.." Siaxx admitted with a sigh.

"I know how you think Siaxx... You really have got to stop doing this to yourself..." the eldest Yamaguchi in the room commented softy. "You are with a child of your own... and Rachael's issues will be nothing compared to your own issues if you don't get this sorted out... You do need anger management therapy... You can't keep doing this Siaxx.. and the offense was committed in my quarters, on my ship... I'm the one who has the final say on charges..."

Siaxx paused, clearly this detail was lost on the small Bolian woman. "Are you?... Going to press charges?"

Rachael shook her head. "It would serve no purpose..."

Teval sighed and gave the both of them a look. "You know, I have to wonder, how the hell did it come to this, you two spent eight and a half years on an isolated planet far away from any civilization at all and you two got along just fine, and then this happens. And both of you are far angrier and far more unstable now than then, how does this happen."

Rachael sighed. "I also had the same thought myself..." she let out a soft sigh. "Eight years planetside."

Teval looked at both of them then offered up his solution. "Alright, so here is my solution. For one week, neither of you will be on the same ship, you will give each other breathing room. Which means, Rachael, your staying away from the Tranquility for a week. Then after this week is over, you two will go on a dinner date with each other, where you will apologize to each other and make up for this and no, keep your heads out of the gutter I do not mean sex. Now is that clear."

Rachael nodded. "Thats fine by me." she responded, before she nodded her head. "I'll keep Saki with me.. Sarah and Daniel can remain with their father."

Siaxx said nothing in response.

Teval gave Siaxx a look. "Siaxx?"

"Yes.. Its fine.." Siaxx answered evenly.

Teval nodded, looking at both of them. "Dismissed."

"I'll need to go get some of my things from the Tranquility." Rachael said aloud.

"I'll handle it. For now... You could always stay with me for a week... I'd welcome the company."

Rachael paused a moment. "Sure mom. I'd like that." before Rachael rose to her feet and departed without a backward glance.

Saki turned to her grandmother. "Ummm Grandma Torilla?"

"Yes sweetie?"

"Am I banned from Tranquility too?"

Torilla shook her head. "No sweetie... This is not your fault... But look on this as a life lesson... in what NOT to do. Anyway... We'll head over to your place, pick up your things along with some things for your mom then you'll come back to my place... I have the time for you... your mom will be learning how to raise children from me."

Saki nodded her head. "Okay."
