Mission:
Mission 67: In The Service of Life and the Living
Location: Argonne/Zekarria
Timeline: 1100Hrs - March 1st, 2392
Roevin and Lynn Kurkiv along with Kyar Vask took the time to inspect the shipping crates full of new equipment that had just arrived and were now in Roanoke's main cargo bay. The equipment was a new type of armored vest that incorporated the first federation personal shield generator, as well as a new helmet design. They had also received a rather large number of uparmored trucks based on the Argo and a larger cargo variant but those had been immediately put into vehicle bays on all the ships in the battlegroup, with argonne receiving the largest number. After taking the time to conduct an inventory of everything present, Kyar asked, "so whom are we delivering all this new kit too first."
Lynn looked at all the supplies and replied. "We will deliver Argonne's supplies first and brief them on its operation first, since they have the largest marine contingent."
She then tapped her combadge, contacting the Argonne," Commander Lynn Kurkiv to Colonel Brianna Hobbs, I have some new equipment for your marines, so can you assemble your armorers and your senior officers and NCO's in your ships main cargo bay."
"This is Hobbs." Brianna replied. "We weren't expecting you today. Give us about an hour to assemble."
Tienn Nerra was sitting in her office, presently doing her normal daily paperwork except she was distracted thinking of her twin who had changed from what happened to her after that incident which had taken place in the Roanoke's sickbay thanks to several overzealous secret service agents. In truth Nerra was almost convinced that her twin was going to die and had died but when she had endured and survived.
What made matters worse for Nerra is that she no longer recognized who or what her twin was anymore and that made her angry.
"Tienn, this is Hobbs." Brianna came over the comm. "All combat officers and NCOs are to assemble in the main cargo bay as soon as possible."
Tienn tapped her combadge. "What?" she almost demanded. "Yes. I'll be there. Tienn out." she tapped her combadge before the smaller then average Bajoran women passed along her orders to her own guys.
Lynn acknowledged Hobbs then contacted the marine CO's of the other ships, as well as their security chiefs and the senior fighter corps officers available, also asking that they be present as well along with their senior NCO's. It took roughly an hour for the R&D personnel to get their equipment ready anyway, but once they where ready, the three R&D officers made their way to Argonne's main Cargo bay. Lynn first addressed Hobbs," Got everyone you need."
"Yes, I think everyone is here." Hobbs replied.
Sergeyev, Wukari and Abbado were present, representing the fighter corps personnel. Lynn then decided to address the whole group, " alright everyone, today your respective units get the honor of field testing some new equipment."
Roevin opened up one of the crates and pulled out the new tactical vest and the new helmet. Lynn then pointed out the vest. "This is the latest body armor for the marines and security personnel. The helmet and Vest are well armored enough to withstand most medium powered phaser rifle blasts and incorporates the first federation personal energy shield."
Major John Burgoyne watched in silence, as he observed the new equipment being explained, the gear looked nice and the details for him were impressive. Captain Bruce Frasier off of the Dreamcrusher looked somewhat pensive as he watched and listened. Captain Skyler smiled a wide grin as she found this to be great and wonderful stuff.
Lt Colonel Thomas Jackson watched as well. "The shield system is perfected then?" he inquired. "How many units are being deployed?"
Lynn answered simply. "Perfected enough that R&D has decided to put it out for field use. And there is enough to fully equip them to all the marines, security personnel and fighter corps search and rescue teams. And either way, even if it still has a few bugs in the system, its still far better than the total lack of body armor the marines have so far lacked."
Jackson smiled as he heard a few soft chuckles and laughs go around the room with that comment, one of them came from himself. "I can't argue with that."
The various marines looked at the equipment on display in a display of silence, clearly wanting to know what all of this equipment would do and who would get theirs first.
Tienn regarded the armor. "Impressive... Maybe it'll be better then our duty uniforms.." she muttered softly.
