Removing the Snakes head - Air Assault

Mission: Mission 61: The Blood-Dimmed Tide
Location: Zh'kuar system
Timeline: Feb 11th 2392

Not 30 minutes after the Akurian forces arrived on planet, the first Aircraft began their attack on Tekevek city. The city's defenders however where on alert, having known about the space battle. The city had transporter jammers throughout making it impossible for an attacker to use transporters in or out, however the akurians didn't really care as their Aircraft began their first series of airstrikes, targeting AA emplacements first. Leading the formation of aircraft where fighter aircraft equipped with countermeasure pods and extra defensive measures and it was their job to reveal the locations of AA emplacements by baiting their fire. Then once AA opened fire, ground attack aircraft fired Air to Surface missiles at the emplacements, destroying them one by one. Undoubtedly this cost the Akurians in drone aircraft, however the aircraft where just drones and thus, expendable.

The air battle took all of about 25 minutes, as the Klingon deployed a few shuttles and fighters to try and stop the Akurian aircraft, but they seemed to have very few available, and once they and the AA emplacements where out, at the cost of a third of the Akurians available Aircraft, the all clear signal was given and the shuttles where cleared to land their troops.

One of the first shuttles to land was the shuttle carrying Ahunei's Squad. As soon as the shuttle reached its drop point her squad along with several others used jump packs to leap out of the shuttle and land on the rooftops 30 meters below the shuttle. the Veteran warriors of the Akurian Confederation wasted no time in clearing the immediate area around them of any enemy Klingons they saw.

Michael Yamaguchi smiled as he got set up with his rifle, before he began to pick off the Klingons nearby, using one shot at a time. "Rooftop bravo one is clear... moving on." he commented over the com before he proceeded to locate the door to the roof so he could enter the building. He produced a flashbang before he opened the door and tossed it in, then he waited for the telltale 'whumph' then he opened the door and charged down the flight of stairs before him.

Ahunei then contacted Kralasha," Hurgh Mas, you are cleared to land at my location."

Kralasha acknowledged Ahunei. The wings of the Hurgh maS folded upwards as in descended. A House armored car came out of a building and started to shoot at the jump pack troops. The Hurgh maS took aim at the armored car and blew it out of existence. The bird of prey landed and as the rear ramp went down the Klingons poured out. They had green cloth around on their left shoulder pads to distinguish them from the House loyalist soldiers.

K'taro had a weapon in each hand. He directed Kolkar to split the force. Kolkar went for the ground defenses while K'taro entered the headquarters palace.

Ahunei then commanded to her squad," Alright Squad, we head for the palace."

The Squad, using their Jumpacks, then leaped off the rood and landed near the entrance, following the Klingons in. However they didn't get very far, as Tekevek troops managed to get one of the secondary doors closed, thereby preventing the entry of Ahunei's Squad and Hurg Mas marines. Ahunei attempted to blast through the door using her autocannon, but even this massive weapon failed to make a dent in the door. She then tuned to Hakavak," Hakavak, demo this door."

Hakavak scanned the door then gave his assessment," Well I can set a charge on this door, but they wont make a dent. I reckon we will need a 28.5 cm cannon to punch through it."

"Can we jump over the wall."

Dynmi Gyal then scanned that area then reported more bad news. "No, its a no go, there is a secondary shield over the top of the palace walls."

Ahunei sighed then turned to the Klingons," Well, we can break through this door, but the vehicles carrying the weapons we need are at least an hour away."

K'taro looked back at the Hurgh maS. "We have a ships cannons." He told them. "They can blast through the doors."

Michael Yamaguchi came over. "Whats the issue guys?" he inquired as he slung his rifle over his back.

The almost out of nowhere a House Tekevek Bird of prey came out of nowhere and attacked the Hurgh Mas and multiple Akurian shuttles. The shuttles didn't fare very well, either being driven off or getting shot down.

The Hurgh maS slowly lifted and put its wings down in an attack mode. The House Tekevek Bird of Prey fired several cannon shots at the Hurgh maS. Ktala struggled at the controls as she tried to evade so close to the planet's surface. Three shots missed and one was deflected by the shields.

Unfortunately neither the marines nor the Akurian soldiers where given time to react to this new development as a house Tekevek sniper opened fire. The first shot struck Saekin Caolo, burning a 4 cm hole clean through the small Kurokuri's midsection. The second shot hit Hakavak putting a hole in the side of his chest. However because of his artificial body he was able to shrug off the injury and went for cover along with the rest of the squad.

Two more shots were evaded by the Hurgh maS. The Hurgh maS responded by shooting its cannons at the Tekevek vessel. The shots were absorbed by its shields.

Ahunei as well as the other battlesuits quickly zeroed in on the Snipers location and called in an artillery strike. Moments later, a precision guided 125 cm round slammed into the snipers position, killing him instantly. Recognizing that if more snipers showed up, they would be sitting ducks Ahunei motioned to a large building nearby," Alright, lets move out and occupy that building, we cant do anything right here right now."

Yamaguchi nodded as he lifted his rifle, before he moved after Ahunei.
"Set up to clean out snipers as they appear?"

Ahunei picked up the fallen Saekin and led the unit to the building, with the Klingon marines following. Clearing out any House Tekevek Klingons that where in the building. Suddenly two Tekevek soldiers appeared out of nowhere and rushed K'taro with batleth's.

K'taro went went back at them. He used his Mek'leth to parry one warrior and struck at the other with his spear. After dispatching the first warrior he struck down the second with a quick spear swing.

The rest of Ahunei's squad promptly cleared the first floor of the building, fortunately there where few tekevek warriors in the building, however outside the rooftops where beginning to fill up with tekevek warriors and the began to fire constantly at the building. Hamask Kazavara, the Grenadier lieutenant commented as he fired several rife grenades at the enemy," Doesn't look like we are going anywhere any time soon."

Ahunei growled as she set the severely injured Saekin on the table. Nukai Vazzle, one of the other Squad medics immediately moved to tend to the Kurokuri. Hie blood was all over Ahunei's armor.

Then suddenly a bright red energy beam struck one of the walls, blowing a large hole in the wall and sending shrapnel everywhere. Fortunately the personal shields of the Squad protected them. however Hamask was immediately able to identify the weapons," Damn, looks like CRM-114's." Ahunei paused briefly. She knew of the weapon but she didn't think Tekevek had them. those weapons where more than powerful enough to go through even battlesuit armor in a single shot. "Alright, everyone get to cover, snipers get to the upper levels and take those CRM gunners out."

Yamaguchi nodded his head. "Alright.. cover me." and with that he moved out as his guys began opening fire, not to kill enemy targets but also to distract them and keep their heads down.

Yamaguchi dove into a large pile of debris before he quickly got set up and began picking off the CRM gunners out, one of them exploded as Yamaguchi shot the weapon right as they pulled their own trigger, it was a chance encounter of ordinance but it worked.

More Tekevek warriors appeared and they kept up a constant barrage of fire on their building.

Ahunei then called up to command," We are having some trouble here, Tekevek has got us pinned down."

The Platoon Commander, 1st Major Eriys, gave a rather chilling response," Your not the only ones, Apparently we badly underestimated the number of warriors present, most of our units are pinned down or unable to advance. We aren't likely to break this without the tank units."

Ahunei cursed as a CRM beam narrowly missed her," great." Lifting her autocannon she unloaded the magazine at the rooftops, eviscerating a half dozed Tekevek warriors.

Michael Yamaguchi looked through his scope as he pulled the trigger once, exploding another Klingon's head. "Guys we got trouble coming in... Three dozen Klingons are moving in.. looks like they are armed with sidearms and little else..." there was something in his tone. "They're gonna rush us!"

Ahunei didn't even give the klingons a chance, she instead just called an artillery strike on their positions. Fortunately a few 125 cm armed artillery tanks where able to oblige her request.

Yamaguchi smiled. "On target... All thats left of them is red splatter on the ground.. Well manenta... but who cares." he commented evenly as he returned to picking off the snipers. "Man these guys are stupid."

Tanvax pulled the power cell out of his weapon and replaced it with a fresh one," Yeah but there is a lot of them."

Nukai then had to deliver bad news to the squad," Guy's, I've just lost Saekin."

Ahunei's response was to fire off over a dozen rounds into the positions of mutliple Tekevek warriors. She then growled," Can he be revived later."

Nukai nodded," As long as we get him out of here quickly enough."

Tanvax sighed, Not much we can do about it now."

Ahunei hated being stuck in this position. "Those damn tanks better get here soon."

Yamaguchi raised an eyebrow. "How many of these guys are there!?" as another Klingon's head suddenly exploded into red paste with white chunks mixed in for good effort. "This is getting stupid!"
