Trials End - Part Two

Posted on Thu Mar 5th, 2020 @ 6:07am by General Ranik Solusar & Division Admiral Talon Yeager & Post Captain Davijaan "Oddball" Yeager & Post Captain Harmon 'Hammer' Rabb Junior. & Noel Yamaguchi

Mission: Mission 55: The Measure of a Woman
Location: Courtroom Two - Starbase 12
Timeline: 0900Hrs - February 8th, 2392

The tone of the trial had changed as Talon now found herself becoming the target now rather then Noel was earlier. Davijaan gently took Talon's hand in his own. "Y'know... I can hear you thinking.."

Talon regarded her fiancee but she didn't speak, however she nodded yes.

Rabb meanwhile knew how this was going to go as he knew what was coming so he called Rear Admiral Jerome Hunt to the stand. "Please state your name for the record?"

"Rear Admiral Jerome Hunt Junior." he said evenly. He was then sworn in and the proceedings went forward.

"Thank you." Rabb responded. "So... tell me Admiral Hunt... Why did you remove Noel Yamaguchi from the arms of her mother?"

"Adopted mother." Jerome responded, quick to point out the difference. "Noel did not get along with her siblings and she was a troublemaker."

"I see." Rabb responded. "Yet you heard the testimony from your parents..."

"Yes. Well they have their perspective and I have my own.." Hunt was dismissive of his parents testimony and it showed in how he was speaking, various people reacted to this by looking around as Rabb paused a moment. "Okay... You and Talon did not co-exist very well... did you?"

"No. Because Talon is borderline insane."

"Well... Thats a rather strong opinion." Rabb responded. "Are you able to diagnose insanity?"

"Well No." as Rabb pressed on. "Are you legally qualified to say if someone should be sectioned or not.?"

"No." Jerome Hunt knew he had been caught as he let out a sigh.

"So... you are not qualified to determine if a child was a danger to anyone else then?"

"No." Hunt responded.

"I see... Tell me then.. do you have any measure of experience in the medical fields...?"

"No."

"Thank you... Moving back to my original point of contention. Noel.." Rabb explained evenly. "You had Noel removed from the house after Talon Hunt had gone on assignment... is that correct?"

"Yes it is...because I felt she was a danger to my children."

"Its because Noel is not yours by blood that you thought she was a danger... isn't that not so.?"

"How dare you!" Hunt shot to his feet.

"Answer the question please." Rabb responded in a dry tone.

"Objection, council is badgering the witness." Lindsey shouted.

"I'll rephrase." Rabb responded evenly, as if expecting the statement.
"Admiral Hunt... The situation was provoked because you had already had issues with Noel as you said and I quote from your own logs. "Noel and I don't get along as I try to tell her to do something, she is openly defiant and she doesn't do as she is told."' Unquote" Rabb explained. "Is that statement accurate.?"

"I..ummm I don't recall... A lot has happened recently.." Hunt admitted.

"Ahh... Well then this should help clear up your memory." Rabb said evenly before shifting his attention to Loran. "Your honor. I'd like to play this entire log entry for the court in its entirety please?"

Loran nodded. "You may."

Rabb gently tapped 'play' as the log was read out. 'Admiral Hunt's personal log. Stardate six five four eight oh point three four." Hunts voice sounded off as he sounded tired and exhausted. "Noel and I don't get along as I try to tell her to do something, she is openly defiant and she doesn't do as she is told. She just... Drives me crazy, she's spiteful and generally unhappy. She's always whining about her mom not being here but I guess thats because she doesn't understand that grownups have things to do and responsibilities. Something that she has clearly never had before. I will have to stick it to her one way or another... It doesn't help that her mother is an outright bitch... Talon dares to threaten me in my house!. I will not stand for this... I will deal with Talon soon enough.. end log entry."

Rabb raised an eyebrow. "Tell me Admiral.. Why do you not talk to your own children.. Why do you don't regard them as your own children..?"

"Thats because Talon didn't want me involved, she took them and left... Honestly I was happy for her to do so."

Hunt kept sinking himself as a character witness as far as Solusar was concerned, he had heard enough at this show trial and he was already ready to decide on the verdict. He was sure that Firespirit and Kurso Teska felt the same way on the matter before them.

Rabb sighed. "Tell me Admiral Hunt... what were you going to do to Talon when you got the chance.."

"I was going to serve her with divorce papers, she threatened me and I will not tolerate it."

"I see. Except she beat you to it.." he turned to Lindsey. "Your witness.."

Lindsey came forward and tried to rehabilitate Hunt as a witness but the damage had already been done. Solusar decided that Hunt was the cause of all of this and it began and ended with him.

Lindsey then thanked him and told Hunt he could step down, the next witness was Fleet Captain Devon Hunt and the grilling continued with Talon's character coming more and more into focus.

Rabb knew who he wanted to call next. "I call Captain Davijaan Yeager to the stand."

Davijaan Yeager rose to his feet as he went over to the stand. Passing Jerome Hunt in the process who gave him a rather evil glare, as these two men were both in relationships with Talon Yamaguchi, one was married and one will soon be married if anyone involved had their way.

Davijaan Yeager sat down on the chair as Rabb approached him before swearing him in. "Captain Yeager... Would you say you have a considerable amount of experience with children?"

"I would, yes." Yeager responded.

"I read the disposition you submitted.. I have a few questions about it."

Yeager simply nodded his head as he regarded Rabb, he knew what was at stake here and he focused on the task at hand rather then take a moment to look at Talon's face in the crowd.

"You've already raised one child from a previous relationship." Rabb explained. "Now you're willing to help Talon raise her three children.." he paused. "How would you honestly rate Talon as a mother.?"

"I'd rate her as good." Yeager responded.

"But not excellent?." Rabb inquired.

"The term is vague and open to interpretation, it can mean anything. Talon is dedicated to her children, she plans her evenings to spend the maximum possible time with them because she is a single mother raising three children alone."

"Does she pawn her children off to others to look after?"

Yeager regarded Rabb with a look. "Talon is a single parent, in a relationship with me. I assist her with parenting as required by her."

Rabb knew Lindsey would object to this next one. "How do you get along with her children?"

Yeager smiled. "I get along with Talon's children quite well, granted we are still getting to know one another and I give them space to get to know me and when they want to be left alone."

"But you are not their biological father?" Rabb inquired

"No.. Someone else is." Yeager responded evenly.

"Who is that man.?" Rabb inquired.

"Rear Admiral Jerome Hunt. He's seated right over there." Yeager indicated the Rear Admiral who was seated at the back of the courtroom.

"Why do you suppose that he wanted nothing to do with these children.?"

Lindsey as expected submitted his objection. "Apologies your honor I'll rephrase."

Yeager waited in silence as Rabb rephrased his question. "In truth I have no idea."

"Your witness" Rabb turned to Lindsey who approached Yeager as if he were radioactive. "Captain Yeager.." he said evenly. "Would you call Talon Yamaguchi a faithful woman?"

"Yes I would." Yeager responded, he saw where this was going.

"So to your knowledge. Talon has never cheated on you or her husband?"

"No." Yeager responded, a soft smile playing at his lips.

"So.. that wouldn't bother you all that much if she did?"

"Objection,. council is asking to form a conclusion."

The judge responded by ordering Lindsey to move it along and not waste time. "I'll rephrase." Lindsey responded. "Does Talon beat or abuse her children?"

"No." Yeager responded bluntly but he didn't add any more as there was no need.

"Does Talon excessively discipline her children... does she yell a lot?"

"No." Yeager smiled as he sat back, clearly getting comfortable.

"Does she emotionally abuse her children?"

"and again... No." Yeager responded

"Does Talon drink alcohol or do drugs of any kind?"

"Once more... No." Yeager smiled

"Well Talon doesn't have a criminal record which is good." Lindsey sighed. "Does Talon properly supervise her children?"

"She does.. When she is not on duty."

"How often is that?" Lindsey inquired

"She serves one shift on duty, same as everyone else, however as the commander of the Starfleet detachment, shes always on call.."

"I see... Does Talon properly feed, clothe and educate her children."

"Yes she does." Yeager's response was blunt but simple.

"Is there anything dangerious in the home... like weapons or anything of that nature.?"

"Talon keeps two swords, three bo's and a set of sai's, but she keeps them in the armory."

"Wait. I'm confused. Why does Talon have such an odd collection of weapons..?"

"Talon is a martial arts master, she has ten black belts in various styles and she must practice often."

"Does she abuse her children with her skills?"

"No." Yeager responded. "She is presently training her children in the basics which means no punching or kicking for years yet, she is having them read the texts on the subject to gauge their interest."

"And the results?"

"Objection, relevance?" Rabb's response was quick.

"I'm Sorry your honor." Lindsey responded "Thank you Captain Yeager. you may step down.." he paused. "I call Noel Yamaguchi to the stand."
