Mission:
Mission 63: Second Nature
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1830Hrs - February 5th, 2392
Lt Commander Vrenn Chan regarded the news with little interest or consequences on most days except today was a very different day, to all who saw the news, the reports of the Czerka transportation company getting out was scandalous in itself but the story that followed about the Ferasian situation was downright shocking, even to him.
Jeff Duval who did double duty as the Battlegroups most senior enlisted man and the ships lounge manager, he came over as he placed a large glass of an yellowish-orange liquid inside. "Whats this?"
"A Raktijinio." Duval responded. "I have no idea of your tastes or preferences."
"After watching the news... I'm not sure of how I feel.." Vrenn admitted.
"Disgraceful.. I know." Duval answered with a smile. "That people knew and chose to do nothing... Its insulting."
"It offends me..."
"If you were anything other then deeply offended, I'd be highly worried." Duval answered. "But I know you will always be true to your word and to the ideals of the Federation rather then the Empire... Which makes you somewhat unique in my experience."
"I'm not sure if thats good or not Jeff.." Vrenn commented quietly. "I always hated the empire because of what they did to my mother and how they treated me but... this is insulting and dishonorable.... I almost can't put it into words.."
Duval nodded. "Then do not try." he rumbled. "When you figure out what words are appropriate, you will know at that time.."
"I am an Ambassador and a Diplomat. The Council wants peace but his do I reconcile peace when all I want is war and bloodshed."
"You don't." Duval reminded the Klingon before him. "You can't remain loyal to the Federation and remain true to your own code of honor and your own convictions... To do otherwise is to be an unexcusable traitor, both to yourself and to the cause you serve."
"What cause is that?" Vrenn seemed lost.
"The cause of peace.. When all seems lost, hold fast to your own ideals.. and you will endure. But the question you face is this... which path will you choose... the path of peace and work within the limitations of the Federation Council's decree... or the path of war.. the Akurians stuck out a request for anyone who can help with the situation planetside..."
"I am a Klingon who-"
"Who is serving something other then an oppressive government. It would do well for the Ferasians to see a Klingon wearing the uniform of Starfleet, to remind that that not all Klingons are the monsters they fear."
Vrenn lifted the mug of Klingon coffee to his lips and he drank the entire mug in one go. "Yes... I have work to do." he explained slowly and deliberately rather then reacting tot he sudden caffeine high he was no doubt experiencing even now. "Thank you Command Sergeant Major, you have been most helpful." and with that Vrenn got up and departed the lounge, intent on his new mission.
