Slipping into the Night - Part One

Posted on Thu Mar 5th, 2020 @ 5:25am by Lieutenant James MacPherson & Post Captain Plataea "Phantom" Lasky

Mission: Mission 61: The Blood-Dimmed Tide
Location: Various Locations - USS Nightstalker
Timeline: 1500Hrs - February 1st, 2392

Commander Plataea Unal was seated in the command chair of the USS Nightstalker as she sat in silence, she had slipped off her uniform jacket three hours ago as she had made herself clear to the crew that this cruise would be anything other than routine.

She had received a letter from the department of Starfleet Personnel, it said that she was now permitted to remain in this universes Starfleet Navy should she so desire it. She had submitted a request to remain in Starfleet back at the end of November and they had finished processing her request. She had delivered a copy of her service record along with all the relevant details and now her rank of Commander was official.

Plataea tapped the display at her right hand, the com system activated. "Attention the good crew of the USS Nightstalker. This is your Cap'n speaking." Unal suddenly grinned as she decided to carry on with it. "This assignment is exceptionally dangerous, that was why I asked about volunteers, those of you who feel the dress code is too strict, do not need to follow it. I will not run this ship or her crew like a normal starfleet crew as we are not a normal crew. We are a special group... Every one of you.." Unal paused a moment. "We are here in defiance of tyranny.. we have come to help free Federation citizens held unjustly by a dictatorial regime who will insist that we leave them and their property to them."

Unal looked around the bridge crew as she spoke. "Some of you have lost family and friends to the excesses of the Klingon empire during our last war with them... While it was twenty years ago. the point is still the same... We are going to lay mines, provide our allies with intel in regards to the Klingon Fleet and the like... We are not going to engage them. That job lies with others... We are to hurt them via gathering information on them. If anyone has ideas on how best to accomplish this. then please bring them forward. I am more democratic then what you will be used to." Unal paused. "Focus on each other, help each other through this assignment...and we will all come home alive... That is all."

Lieutenant James MacPherson regarded Unal. "Very nice skipper."

"Brought a tear to my eye. That last bit." said Chief Petty Officer William Kohler.

"Oh.. Everyone's a critic.." Unal lamented her fortune. "Helm... engage the cloak and take us tot he Klingon boarder.." Unal commented. "Speed... Warp six point four and engage when ready." she added

"Aye Skipper, we're en-route now." the younger woman presently seated at Conn explained as the stars suddenly turned into starlines the Nightstalker was on her way to her mission patrol area.
