The Silence of January - Part Two

Mission: Mission 57: The Northern Lights
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1000Hrs - January 18th, 2392

Rear Admiral Jake Yamaguchi had just gotten off of the com with his eldest sibling not ten minutes before and now he had requested that Vasily Borodin and Andrew Whiteshadow could come and see him at their earliest convenience in the Green Dragon which was where Jake did most of his work these days.

Commander Andrew Whiteshadow rose to his feet after acknowledging the call from Admiral Yamaguchi, he grabbed his uniform jacket as he went out the door.

Vasily Borodin meanwhile was chatting with his wife. Jordan Borodin who was presently commanding a small battlegroup in addition to the USS Canterbury. She too was getting reassigned shortly to Watchman Station as commander of Watchman's Defense Squadron with the Canterbury as her command ship.

Borodin regarded his wife in silence as the request came in. "I'd best go. I love you."

Jordan smiled warmly at her husband. "I love you too.. I will talk to you soon k?"

Borodin nodded before he hung up on his wife, then he departed his quarters in silence while he considered what his wife had just been telling him.

A few minutes later both men entered the lounge as they went over to where Jake was sitting, at a table he always sat at if it was available, it was nicknamed 'The Admirals Table' as a result of this. "Ahh gents. Have a seat.."

Duval appeared as of conjured by magic. "Can I get you guys anything?"

"Both men placed a small meal order each with a large drink. "Stick their orders on my tab." Yamaguchi commented.

"Willdo." Duval withdrew as Jake went into the nittygritty details of what was going on. "Alright.. I'm calling you two in here to tell you that you are both being promoted."

Whiteshadow laughed. "Shiitteee.." he laughed some more as he added. "Your shitting me.."

"Nope... Your assignment here is concluded. You are heading back to Starbase 12 where you take over as their head of JAG with your original rank of Commodore back."

"Who replaces me here?" Whiteshadow stopped laughing, as it was clear that Jake was serious, his tone indicated as much.

"Commander Elizabeth Ashcroft. She needs the experience and she'll make a fine replacement." Yamaguchi responded. "Or so Sildra Vaxx-Warfield indicated when she and I spoke."

Duval returned a moment later with the two meal orders and the two drinks, he set them down before the two men before he withdrew again in silence.

"When does this take effect..?" Whiteshadow inquired.

"March first." Yamaguchi answered. "That way you can close out any remaining cases and give you time to sort things out. Leaving your successor with nothing to worry about."

"Sounds good. I'll go and start preparations for my reassignment."

"No need to rush on my account." and with that he turned to Borodin. "I assume if I offer you a promotion that you'd turn it down?"

"Yes. I would." Borodin responded.

"Well thats good... I'm not going to ask you, I'm just going to give it to you but alas you need a new posting... You will become the head of Intelligence for IFO Division Three. That unit consists of Roanoke's Battlegroup, Lethal Shadow's Battlegroup and Fall of Berlin's Battlegroup. You will also be based at Watchman Station."

"I see.." Borodin responded quietly. "So.. I'll need a replacement for my posting here."

"Yes." Yamaguchi responded lightly. "We have several Intel officers so you may select whom you wish to succeed you here.. But your assignment also takes effect March first as well.."

"I see." Borodin responded. "Normally I would have refused you."

"I know... I wasn't giving you the choice to refuse. Your career has been one of work and success. You earned this posting Vasily... So don't refuse me too lightly."

"I won't... It'll be nice to be working alongside my wife again."

"Oh?" Yamaguchi inquired.

"Yes. She too will soon be based from Watchman station, commanding their defense squadron."

"Now that I didn't know." Yamaguchi smiled. "Good. Besides.. I feel you could do more from a Starbase then you could here.."

"I'll try to keep that in mind." as he finished his doughnut, then he drained his glass of milk.

Whiteshadow chuckled softly. "I get to go home to my wife and kids... and you do the same... What could go wrong with that?"

"I've missed my wife.. I will not deny that... But I was never good with mixing business with pleasure."

Yamaguchi responded with that one. "Nobody said you had to." he commented. "Torilla is over on the Courageous and god knows I get to enjoy being with her."

"A fair point." Borodin responded. "I'll have everything done by the middle of next month so my successor has a clean slate to work with.."

"Alright. Sounds good." Yamaguchi responded. "Thanks for your time gents."

Whiteshadow finished his drink and departed right away while Borodin drained the last of his drink but he was a bit slower in departing, several minutes went by as both men departed and Jake went back to his paperwork.
