Mission:
Mission 57: The Northern Lights
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1800Hrs - December 24th, 2391
Command Sergeant Major Jeff Duval had plenty to be proud of as he was able to gather his entire family under one roof for the first time in several years. He was standing behind the counter as the last remnants of the dinner crowd finished bleeding away as he regarded the mischievous eyes of his mate whom, he had missed so much. "T'Nae." Jeff greeted his wife.
"Jeff" T'Nae responded quietly as a gentle smile playing at her lips, tugging them upwards against gravity inexorable pull. "I have missed you." she added. "I got your message and I was able to arrange things."
"Good. Marcus and Anthony are here as well." Duval grinned at his Vulcan spouse. "I hear Anthony is bringing a date too."
T'Nae's smile only widened. "Excellent." as she said her piece, the doors opened and in walked a rather handsome looking Bajoran woman followed by four children of various ages and Marcus Duval bringing up the rear. He smiled when he regarded his father and the woman he had come to call mother.
Marcus made his way over, his wife and children in tow. "Hey, Dad."
"Marcus .." as Jeff grasped his son's hand before he gave the younger man a big hug. "Ahh... It's great to see you again.!"
"It's great to be seen!" Marcus responded with a smile as his wife came over to pay her own respects to her father in law. "Hey Dad." she greeted him before Jeff gently embraced his daughter in law.
Duval Mia smiled as she regarded Jeff. "Are we late?"
"Nah... You're early..." he then showed some attention to his grandchildren. As he did so the door opened and in walked Anthony Duval, his own son in tow. "Now Ryujin, You'll get to meet your various cousins... Ahh, here we are." behind Ryuujin came a Caitian female sporting a tuxedo look of black and white fur with a kittenish appearance.
"All those guys are related.. to me?" Ryuujin asked.
"Yep... and this is only my brother. My other brother and sisters are not here... but your grandparents are."
T'Nae Duval came over to the second child she called her own who was not related by blood. "Hello, my son... you look well."
"Hey, mom." Anthony smiled warmly as T'Nae smiled back at him, unlike the average Vulcan her smile was warm and emotional. "Its good to see you." then she turned her attention to her grandson. "Hello." she greeted him.
Ryujin smiled back. "Dad mentioned that you were... not like normal Vulcans."
Anthony Duval turned. "Son... that's not how we address relatives.."
"Sorry, Grandma.."
"Your apology is accepted, however, it's also not necessary."
Ryujin regarded his grandmother with an odd look as she explained. "You did not cause me offense," T'Nae explained. "So... do not trouble yourself with the trouble... however.. do listen to your father, you will avoid trouble that way..."
Ryujin was smart enough to know when he was being yelled at, even if this was the polite version from his grandmother. "Yes Grandmother," he responded quietly.
"Okay," T'Nae answered. "Whos your date Anthony?"
"Ahh... T'Nae meet Hsirr." he did the introductions as he pronounced her name as 'hisser' "Hsirr, meet T'Nae Duval, my mother."
The Caitian female nodded her head. "Hello, T'Nae. It is good to meet you."
"Hello, Hsirr. You should have no issues with the food here."
"Thank you." the Caitian fdemale answered before taking her seat next to Anthony.
Anthony regarded his son. "Go take your seat son."
"Yes dad." and with that the nine year old went off in search of his chair, leaving Anthony with T'Nae. "Its good to see you again."
"Indeed son, Its good to see you too.." as T'Nae smiled at him.
Meanwhile the doors opened and in came First Lieutenant T'Kera Duval, she wore her hair long and she looked like a very youthful version of her mother, she also was a darker skinned version of her mom as this woman tended to favor her father in terms of looks. "Hey.." she greeted her father with a big hug. "I got promoted."
Duval smiled. "Congratulations..... You still thinking about the new armored corps?"
"I am yes... You were infantry and... there can only be one Duval per branch of service."
"Thats one way of looking at things." Duval smiled at his daughter as her twin appeared. "Don't mind her Dad, I'm cuter." Lieutenant T'Lee responded, a wide smile on her face. "Besides.. it could be worse right."
T'Kela sighed. "You know that I'm standing right here.... right?" she growled at her twin who nodded. "Yes. yes I do."
Anthony chuckled. "And you don't much care either."
"No... No I do not." T'Lee responded with a beaming smile as Duval himself interrupted. "Alright you two.. Behave yourselves."
"Yes dad." T'Kela responded evenly as T'Lee poked her tongue out at her twin before she smiled. "Of course daddy..."
"Take a seat ladies... and try to behave... okay.?"
The two Vulcan women did as they were told and sat down at the large table in silence. T'Nae sat down next to her husband as the last members of the extended family all took their seats at the table. Jeff Duval turned his head as his nodded to the two waitresses he had retained for this event, the two women came forth and took the meal orders quickly before retreating into the kitchen where Duval's kitchen staff were hard at work preparing the meals.
"I'm glad everyone could make it this year.." Jeff said evenly. "I didn't expect it... and I'm glad we're all together under one roof for this event." he explained. "I want a picture of all of us together...as we are now.."
Various people nodded their heads around the table as the waitresses brought out the drinks that everyone ordered, the drinks and appetizers were served with a minimum of fuss as everyone settled in to wait for their meals. T'Lee began the telling of tales with one of her own "Well.. it begins like this..."
