| General Overview | Marcus is generally easy to get along with and laid back, he is also peaceful and will use force only as a last resort. However, he is a highly practiced martial arts master. He is a Master level combat expert in over a dozen martial arts. He uses it as an outlet for stress. | |
| Strengths & Weaknesses | Marcus is relatively laid back, he carries his tools with him on duty as he knows he will sometimes be asked to assist in other departments as needed, he tends to want to fix broken things after an evening spent fixing one of Kelly toys that Fred broke. Seeing the look on his daughters face made him realize that he could fix things. Weaknesses Marcus misses his wife and children, that's the big bane of contention that he must deal with on a daily basis. Smoking cigars is also something he must deal with. |

Vernacular Marcus is an Engineer at heart, he has also assisted in the Operations department, also he has his flight officers license so he can fly shuttles and small starships should it be needed. | Personal History | Anthony and Marcus were born on March the third, in the year of our lord, twenty three fifty five and they went from place to place on various assignments, their mother, who in the epitome of her arrogance even gave her second son, his fathers name so he had a place to start, it was something she believed that Jeff Duval would have preferred. Marcus grew up the second child of Olympia Vale who before she was killed was assigned to Starbase Ninety Eight but after she was killed, he was sent to stay with his father who accepted both boys eagerly as they were his flesh and blood. For years it was always the three of them but Duval had to leave his children with family friends as he was an active duty Marine and he wasn't prepared to sacrifice his career. However after the battle in the Wolf system. Jeffery Duval met T'Nae, a Vulcan beauty who interested him and fascinated the boys who regarded her with a great deal of apprehension, however, T'Nae reassured them that she would not demand anything of them as they were their father's children and she was merely dating their father. Over time. T'Nae earned the respect and trust of the two boys as the knew fully well that she was an intruder and she needed to earn their trust and respect, but she managed it especially she informed them that she would become a mother for them, should they require her to do so. Marcus and Anthony both found her to be more emotional than the average Vulcan, when she made it clear that she had been brain damaged, they didn't understand but she took care to inform them of the subject even though she didn't need to, once they understood exactly what it was their new mom dealt with, they quickly became very protective and attentive to her, something T'Nae found to be very endearing of them. When both boys were eighteen one of them went off to the academy and then second enlisted as an Engineer but not before bidding farewell to the women their both had come to think of as their mother. Marcus joined Starfleet as an Engineer, so he went to the academy to become an officer so he felt he could become better prepared for the challenges that lay ahead of him, he served all four years at the academy and he missed the war completely but he also got plenty of field experience in the field repairing starships due to battle damage and he also was present at the Battle of Earth, late in the Dominion War with the Breen raid on San Francisco. He was wounded while working on Earth Spacedock and it was here where Marcus met Lirax Mira, a young Bajoran woman, also recovering from wounds sustained at Chin'Toka but hers were from another ship, the USS Black Prince which unfortunately had been destroyed during the battle. In the chaos of war, Marcus found something worth holding onto, as they shared any of the same hobbies and interests, they were also able to share a seemingly endless hatred of the Cardassians as well as their new allies from the Gamma Quadrant, the Dominion. Duval was reassigned back to the academy however he and Lirax Mia began a long distance relationship as she was already graduated and he had not. Also at the same time, his relationship with Lirax Mia really began to bloom, but because of the war, they agreed to be subtle and gentle with their time together, however what neither knew was that Lirax became pregnant on the eve of the battle of the three suns, just weeks before the final fight of the war which would see Marcus lose friends but gain a marriage. Marcus ended the war much as he had begun it, in the bowls of a ship fixing it, he simply shrugged off the news citing work he needed to do to keep the Hermes flying, she had been badly damaged in the final battle to end the war and he had been asked to help the repair details with fixing her. But against all the odds, victory was theirs and life could go on, for those who survived. the dead were mourned and the peace treaty was signed, the ink was from the blood of the fallen so to speak and life went on. Marcus for his part mourned the loss of his friends, while he and his new wife prepared for the arrival of their first, John was what they would call him if it was a boy and Marie if it was a girl. the time of the birth came and went and to their surprise, it was a boy. Just weeks later he was surprised with a commission at the rank of Ensign as he graduated the Academy and he was assigned to one of the ships that Marcus had helped to repair. Marcus and Lirax went on to welcome three additional children while they served on the Rappahannock but Lirax and Marcus knew they could not keep their family with them on Starships as she was promoted to Lt Commander, she accepted a Starbase posting to Starbase 45 and she would take the children with her. Marcus remained on the Hermes for another six months before he, getting weary of endless patrol assignments, opted for reassignment and went off to the Kingston, she too was an older Ambassador class starship and Marcus adapted well to life aboard her, with her various assignments from convoy duty to medical assistance missions with the odd exploration mission thrown into the stew for good measure, life aboard her was a wee bit more cheerful than the Hermes. He also decided to expand his education here on this assignment so he decided to an online course for warp field mechanics, a second followed for warp core repairs and maintenance, both of them took two years apiece to complete. He was promoted here to Lt Commander upon completion of these degrees. In 2383, he was reunited with his wife and children on Starbase 45, it was here that he would form several long-lasting friendships and relationships with the personnel assigned to the base, none the least of which was the bases commanding officer, one Captain Talon Hunt as well as the sector Admiral, Rear Admiral Jerome Hunt. Also while here, he was promoted to Lieutenant Commander. He would call the base home, from that point going forward so for him whenever he went home, it would be to Starbase 45, he and his wife would raise their children here. In 2389, he was assigned to assist in the shaking down of the refitted USS Winds of the Beast which was the first Roanoke class Carrier variant to be constructed and commissioned, she carried a formidable weapons loadout including type XIII phasers and the new heavy quantum missile. Also, the Winds of the Beast was fitted with a brand new shield system, in some cases, this ship was better than brand new. He would spend a year shaking her down before returning to the Starbase to be reunited with his wife and children. In mid-2390, however, Marcus was reassigned to the USS Spirit of Winter, as his experience was in demand considering the fact that the Century class of ships was brand new. Marcus packed a bag and off he went again, however, the assignment had a plus, he would be the first Chief Engineer of this new breed of ship and he was going to enjoy this assignment. Unfortuniylu, the assignment did not last as he went to war with the Klingons, over who would control Gorn space, the Manticore had been boarded and while he was unharmed, his ship would need several months in the dockyards and as he was the commanding officer of the USS Manticore at the time, he was reassigned to command the USS Oathsworn, a Guardian class battleship. Here, was where Marcus decided he would like to remain for a time before anyone else wanted him for anything else.
