Sheridan's Last Hurah

Mission: Mission 54: Where Snow Meets Sky
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 0800Hrs - Dec 21st 2391

Lieutenant John Sheridan sighed softly as he read the mail he had received from Starfleet about twenty minutes earlier, it confirmed what he already knew, that his assignment to the USS Roanoke was over and his task was done.

He let out a sigh as he placed the PADD down on the desk as he rubbed his eyes. "I need a break... Maybe this could be good for me.." he mused aloud to himself before he looked over the crew roster that he had assembled for security.

He tapped his combadge. "Sheridan to Shrikewing and Tiris. Would you two step in here please?"

The responses were prompt and moments later the two women were in the office, seated in chairs. The cheery-looking Bolian in her mid-twenties and the aloof looking human who was also in her mid-twenties. "Sir, you called for us."

"What's up sir." Both women asked, one after the other.

"Well... I'm being promoted...and I'm also being reassigned elsewhere so I'll be leaving in ten days... They gave me that long to sort things out and deal with any problems that might arise." Sheridan explained. "Ms. Shrikewing, I am recommending you for the Chief of Security on the USS Manticore, you'll be part of Element Three so you'll answer to the Chief of Security on the Courageous, I hear she's a Rigellian so you'll get on quite well."

Tiris knew the other woman's experience outmatched hers considerably. "What of me sir.?"

"You'll be replacing me as assistant Chief of Security for this ship. You'll have an excellent teacher in Gyce so try and get along with her. You'll have new people coming in to replace what's going out so you'll have a free hand in the running of this department since Gyce is also in NCIS so she'll have her hands full. you can assist her by ensuring that security runs smoothly."

"Yessir. I will ensure that Security runs like a well oiled and maintained machine."

"I expect nothing less... Any questions ladies before I cut you both lose?"

"Why me sir for Manticore?" Shrikewing inquired.

"Because of her new Commanding Officer. Marcus Duval, he will want someone who is not afraid of kicking some ass and taking names, he made that request specifically clear to me... you were my first choice considering your experiences in starfleet up to this point."

"Most would consider my experiences to be a curse rather then a blessing sir."

"That's my point. I am not most people, I specifically requested you for assignment to this battlegroup. I wanted to see to it... that you got a fair chance..." Sheridan smiled at the woman across from him. "Since coming here, you have proven yourself time and time again. Its time you got an assignment worthy of you."

"Thank you sir... I appreciate that."

Sheridan smiled. "You can thank me by showing I made the right choice on your new command."

"Consider it handled sir."

"Very well." Sheridan paused. "Anything else?"

Both of them shook their heads as Sheridan dismissed them both after congratulating both women on their new assignments.
