Mission:
Mission 54: Where Snow Meets Sky
Location: Colony Surface - Outside Niven City
Timeline: 1200 - December 17th 2391
Lieutenant Sokanon smiled as she inhaled the scent of winter in the air as she found she liked the cold, she turned her head as she took in the scene at a glance, she went into one of the large prefab buildings. "We're just about ready doctor."
Commander Celeste Yamaguchi who was getting large with child nodded her head. "I need a vacation." she accepted the PADD. "Okay thanks doc... if you wanna go outside and throw some snow... I will not stop you." she paused. "everyone. go outside and have a snowball fight.. thats an order... I will call you ten minutes before I need you.."
With that, everyone ran out the door as Sokanon followed them. Once outside she regarded the face of Gunther Werner. She slowly blinked her large eyes as she schooled her face into some semblance of normality, before she took a moment to ensure her whiskers were clean. "Can I... ummm help you?" she inquired of him.
Gunther was a little short on words as he was not expecting to run into Sokanon. "Yeah, um, one of the older habitat units collapsed under the weight of all the snow and Fender, er, Corporal McCord was inside. He was medivaced I just came by to check on him."
Werner looked at Sokanon, "So, shouldn't you be shipboard with your pregnancy and all?"
"Nope." Sokanon responded quietly. "I'm only a month along." as she explained. "My issues don't start getting stupid for another few months... and I am due in May of next year.." as she nodded. "I was attending to the Corporal myself not ten minutes again, he is sleeping at the present time.."
"Okay, glad your in good health." Gunther replied to Sokanon. "So how is Fender?"
"He will be alright.. Mostly bumps and bruises, he was fortunate that he wasn't crushed." she explained. "However he will be out for a few days with broken bones and the like." she explained.
"Alright, thanks for the update." Werner replied. "Listen, um, sorry I was such as butt munch last time we talked." Werner told Sokanon in a sheepish manner.
Sokanon was surprised by his statement and the look on her face said as much. "I'm sorry too..." she responded softly. "It was.... a bad day for us all..."
"Yeah." Werner agreed. "Now that I got a new kid to look after I kinda realized how hard this is going to be for you."
"I heard about that." Sokanon responded. "I'm pregnant with three children." she added quietly. "I'm not sure of what to do with them... since I didn't want a family in my life quite so soon.." she sighed softly.
"Yeah, listen, I don't know what is going on between you and Nightstar and it ain't my business." Werner told her. "What I'm getting at is that if you ever need any help with you kittens I'll try. I'm not sure what I can do but I'll make an effort."
Sokanon listened to what he had to say as she nodded her head. "I appreciate your offer... Nightstar and I are friends... if that even... He is overburdened by Roanoke's marine detachment and I am presently on Spirit of Winter."
Werner could care less that Nightstar had his hands full. He kept his mouth shut on the issue though. "Have you been permanently reassigned?"
Sokanon nodded her furry head. "I've been assigned to the Spirit of Winter for awhile now and I doubt ill be heading back to the Roanoke anytime soon.. What of you?."
"I'm assigned to the Argonne." Werner replied. "It's full of marines and oddly enough I seem to be happy there."
"Good." Sokanon answered. "You deserve to be happy." Solanon paused as she was unsure of what else to say.
"Thank you Sokanon." Gunther told her. "I'll come by later to check on Fender. See ya later."
Sokanon nodded her head. "Until next time." and with that she turned to depart, her ears twitched as as she heard people having fun nearby with snow.
