Mission:
Mission 48: The Third Pineapple Incident
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1800Hrs - November 5th, 2391
Fleet Commander Master Chief Petty Officer Stephen McKnight, more commonly known as 'Orthos' slowly blinked as he moved his head, he suddenly relized that he was flat on his back and he was looking up at the ceiling. "Ohh.." he groaned ever so softly. "What the hell...happened." he suddenly wave a wave of pain pass through him.
"Oh god..." he realized all of his muscles were cramping before he looked beside him, his wife was sprawled out on the deck. "Daisy.." Orthos tried to get her attention.
Daisy lay supine. She opened just one eye. "I don't feel too good. Did Tane's stash catch fire again?"
Orthos slowly sat up. "Uhh... I don't think... that was... Tanes." he sighed. "I felt it in my mind..." he sighed. "It was a psionic demand..." he sighed before he flopped back to the deck. "Fuck... this hurts.."
"I'm still on pain medications so I don't hurt as much as you." Daisy explained. "Although I still hurt. I've never been hit by a psionic attack. Is that what it was?"
"I'm part Vulcan." Orthos gently reminded his wife. "Mom taught me to prepare for such things when they were encountered." he paused. "I think mom is on the starbase..." he paused.. "She was here visiting us.."
Daisy slowly got up. Her injured arms made it a more difficult. "We should try and locate her to make sure she is alright."
Orthos slowly but surely, hauled himself to his feet. "Well... lets find some clothing for you.." he paused. "and for me.."
Daisy hadn't noticed her nudity. "Oh, good." She grimaced. "We need to get to the closest replicator."
Orthos grimaced as he began to don his clothing. "Well... I had a feeling you would want something to wear because you'd want to go back to work... so I brought you an overnight back, with a clean uniform and various other things that you would need." he indicated the table. "Right there.." the bag was still where he had left it the night before while she had slept. "I know how you think..."
"You know me too well." Daisy replied as she slipped on her uniform. "the only thing you didn't add was sexy lingerie."
"I had no idea you wanted any." Orthos answered as he regarded his wife's figure while she dressed. "anyone ever tell you that you make the uniform look hot?"
Daisy smiled at Orthos. "Didn't what just happen quench your lust?"
"Not all of it," Orthos answered honestly. "Afterall... you are my mate."
"Yes, well all of that is well and good but we still have to find your mother." Daisy told him. "She could be in pain or hurt someone else."
Orthos smiled as he tapped the door release. "Oh shit." he muttered. "Everyone else.... is passed out..." he noticed the body. "Do I wanna know?" he sighed. "Come on... lets go."
Daisy moaned as she saw the aftermath of the psionic wave. She said nothing and followed Orthos.
Orthos looked around before he grasped a medical tricorder lying on a shelf. "Okay... Vulcan lifesigns... several sets... okay. lets go." and with that he led his wife down the hallway.
"If we do find your mother in a state of Pon Far, do you have a plan?" Daisy asked as she followed.
"Nope." Orthos admitted, he sighed softly. "I hope not... she might turn on us.." he paused. "Especially if she sees you as a threat.... or me.."
"Maybe we should get a phaser?" Daisy suggested.
Orthos regarded his wife. "Yeah..." he admitted softly. "I'd never...had cause.... to stun my mother.." he closed his eyes. "I had hoped.." before he leaned down and plucked a phaser from a downed security officer. "Lets go.."
"A Vulcan in Pon Far is hardly them self." Daisy told Orthos. She looked around at the damage. "What a mess."
Orthos sighed. "Yeah.." he responded as he located his mothers lifesigns. "I found her... section Twenty five on this deck.."
"Lead on." Daisy told Orthos. She was trepidatious about what they would find.
Orthos came around the corner and there lying on the deck was his mother, she was disheveled and her clothing was scattered in a pile around her. "Its her." Orthos said as he moved speedily to her side.
T'Sara slowly woke up. "Mmm... son... what has happened?"
"I'm not sure mom... I would assume it was a pollywater outbreak."
T'Sara sat up, fully in the knowledge of the fact that she was in naught but her skin, she began gathering her clothing as Orthos inquired. "Do you require medical aid?"
"The pain is manageable.." she regarded Daisy. "What happened to you?"
"I was in sickbay recovering from the last combat mission." Daisy told her. She didn't want to tell T'Sara her son was responsible for her condition.
Orthos sighed as T'Sara regarded her son. "You were affected too?"
"I was.." he sighed. "It triggered a Pon Far in me." Orthos was brutally honest about it
"I understand.." T'Sara responded. "It triggered the same effect in me.... I'm four years away from my next time." she sighed. "Help me up.. please?"
Orthos gently helped his mother to her feet before he handed her, her clothing.
Daisy looked around. "do you know anyone else that may need medical help?" She asked T'Sara.
T'Sara quickly and efficiently donned her clothing. ""Oh... probably everyone.."
"Where should we go?" Daisy asked. "I have never drilled for this...eventuality."
Orthos regarded his wife with a soft smile. "I can see why." he tried not to laugh but he failed. T'Sara smiled but said only. "Come on guys... lets go find the science lab.. so we might find out what we are dealing with." the Vulcan woman was now fully dressed. "and I can get a medkit and tend to my... issues."
"When I joined Star Fleet things like this never even entered my mind." Daisy stated to no one in particular. "I doubt they will use this in a recruiting campaign."
T'Sara chuckled softly. "Lets hope not." she responded. "Where is Edward?"
"I asked Torilla Yamaguchi to babysit him." Orthos responded.
"Do you think Torilla is safe?" Daisy asked in a panic. "We should check on them."
T'Sara nodded. "We will... a few minutes won't change much." she responded to the young mother but in a tone that indicated she understood how she felt.
Daisy nodded, she was not happy but she knew T'Sara was right.
A few minutes later the three of them entered the Science Lab. "Okay.. let me call the Courageous." Orthos commented as T'Sara picked up a medkit and she went to sat down in a chair. "Don't get me wrong dear... Orthos don't need to see his mom doing this." she opened the medkit as she opened the tricorder, then she gave herself the one over. "Yep... as I thought.." she sighed softly.
Daisy just sighed. "I understand. Big fucking mess this has turned out to be."
Orthos meanwhile tapped the display as a voice came over the com. "This is the Courageous. Commander Javier Morales here."
"Commander, whats the situation over there?" he inquired. "Can you get Captain Yamaguchi for me?"
"Yeah, willdo." there was a pregnant pause as Torilla's voice came over the com. "Hey Orthos. whats up?"
"Hows Edward?" he paused. "hows the Courageous?"
"Everything is fine... Edward is in daycare." she paused. "What was with the Psionic call earlier?"
"Thats the reason I'm calling.. did it affect your ship?"
"No.. I'm worried about Elizabeth, Rachael... and Jake.."
Daisy yelled form the other room "Is Edward okay?"
Torilla's voice came back. "Daisy?" she inquired. "Your son is fine.." she responded.
T'Sara was treating her wounds. "Yeah..." she rolled her eyes. "by the gods... this hurts..." she whispered. "Not had sex like that in years.." she admitted to Daisy.
"Do need something for the pain?" Daisy asked.
"No... I will be okay." T'Sara responded quietly before she finished. "There.." she gave herself the once over with her tricorder. "All healed." she smiled at Daisy. "You've never been through a Vulcan's pon far ... have you?"
"No, no I have not." Daisy replied. "I'm glad you were not injured."
"Only my pride my dear.." T'Sara responded. "But you can now say that you have been through a pon far... even if my sons was not as strong as a full Vulcan... Its still there.." she let out a soft sigh. "I heard this kind of things frequently happens aboard your ship.. Now I have experienced it for myself... I am not sure if I should be grateful for the experience... or be enraged with your ships Captain.." she explained.
Just then Orthos got off the co with Torilla before making his way over to where his wife and mother were sitting. "Ladies.. I spoke with Torilla... the Courageous and Edward are both fine. Nothing happened over there."
A wave of relief went over Daisy. "Well that is a little good news. Now we just have to figure out the damage here."
T'Sara raised an eyebrow. "It is considerable... over twenty two thousand people were affected by that psionic effect." the Vulcan woman explained as she displayed the graphic. "as you can see the crews of four ships are affected as is a chunk of the base."
Orthos winced. "Ouch.."
"Indeed." T'Sara responded without any emotion whatsoever. "As you can see... We know where it started... in sickbay, the question now becomes... who started this, also... why?"
"I couldn't answer that." Daisy stated the obvious. "Who has that kind of power anyways?"
"Someone who is a formidable telepath." T'Sara responded. "That narrows is down substantially." as she regarded her daughter in law with a smile. "Now we know that Torilla Yamaguchi is not involved so that narrows it down to Commander Unal, Lieutenant Furban and maybe Elizabeth Yamaguchi.." she paused. "Unless there is someone I missed."
"Like I said, psionics aren't my thing." Daisy replied. "I do know the Yamaguchi's are really powerful. Furban tends to stay locked away in medical."
T'Sara narrowed her eyes as she quickly pulled up the roster. "Only one Yamaguchi on this roster.... Rachael... and she's not powerful enough to have caused this." as she tapped Rachael's name, her service record came up as T'Sara skimmed over it before she returned it to the pile. "No... she rates a level four of ten... Torilla Yamaguchi is an eight. She was not affected.." she paused. "Apparently there is a second Torilla Yamaguchi who's in the system but I can't find where she's assigned yet.."
Orthos regarded his mother. "Elizabeth Yamaguchi was not present... but I believe two Orion women were... I know we have a couple in the battlegroup."
"Ahh... Braelynn Di'Tomasso and Odessa Martel.." T'Sara quickly found them. "Assigned to the USS Argonne." she pronounced it as "Are'Gone". She regarded Daisy. "What do you think?" she inquired.
"Who is their commanding officer?" Daisy asked before scrolling down the PaDD. "Oh, it seems I am."
T'Sara regarded her with a smile. "Indeed.. " she responded. "I wonder... if one of them came into contact with a Deltan.... an Orion causing a hormonal surge in a Deltan..... I wonder.." she paused. "Can I yell at you now.?" T'Sara inquired. "If... these two are responsible for this mess... I have a feeling that they are.... I'd delegate someone from your staff that you hate, to handle the fallout."
Orthos chuckled softly. "Considering the size of the bubble and the number of people affected. Yeah.."
"But those two are assigned to the Argonne. Why would they be here?" Daisy asked. "Besides, they know not to use their powers like that."
T'Sara raised an eyebrow. "There could be any number of reasons Daisy as to why they are over here... But lets ask a few questions before I decide to have then keelhauled." she smiled. "Besides... Its... been awhile."
Orthos sighed but said nothing.
"If, and I do emphasis that, they are responsible what kind of punishment are we talking about here?" Daisy asked T'Sara.
"To be honest... I have no idea." T'Sara responded. "That would be up to Fleet Admiral April Yamaguchi.... who was supposed to be doing an inspection of the Roanoke.. at that time..." she sighed. "and I'd bet good money that she was affected too." as she quickly called up April's plans.
"Well I had a good career while it lasted." Daisy told herself. "Before it was ruined by two Orion skanks."
T'Sara raised an eyebrow. "Lets see what happens.... Before you write your career off." she said as she gently smiled at her daughter in law. "I'm sure we're missing pieces of this puzzle.."
"I know the way this Task Force operates." Daisy told the older woman. "It's probably worse than what we assume."
T'Sara raised an eyebrow. "What makes you say that?"
"Have you been keeping track of what the Roanoke has done?" Daisy asked. "This place is a mental asylum floating out in space."
T'Sara simply shook her head. "Nope... I don't hear anything about her." she responded. "So.... enlighten me.?"
"This isn't the first time something like this has happened." Daisy told her. "Last time Zane's personal store of narcotics caught fire and spread throughout the ship."
T'Sara raised an eyebrow. "Really?" the Vulcan woman inquired. "Impressive. Sounds like I need to hang out on this ship more often."
Orthos sighed before he facepalmed.
Daisy gave T'Sara an awkward smile. "You wouldn't say that if you had the same headache we did after that."
"The sex was that good hmm?" T'Sara responded.
"Thats a matter of opinion mom."
"Like everything else in life son." T'Sara responded.
"I hope you this cheerful if you find out one of my marines was responsible." Daisy told her.
"I don't see me getting pregnant any time soon." T'Sara replied. "It would be fascinating if I were."
"Yes... it would." Orthos responded in a dry tone.
Upon hearing T'Sara's words Daisy's eyes widened considerably. "Oh my!" She shouted out loud and put her hands on her abdomen. "I need to get checked!"
"That makes two of us." T'Sara responded. "We will get checked... soon enough." she added with a smile. "What?" she asked Orthos
"The thought of the two of you being pregnant at the same time."
"You won't be carrying a child!" Daisy yelled. "What is it with this ship? I have gotten stoned and preggers twice in as many years."
Orthos regarded his wife as he handed her the medical tricorder. "Have you checked?" he inquired in a dry tone. "Maybe Tane likes all her women medicated."
Daisy shook her head. "I don't want to check now. I'll wait and have a medtech do it. I couldn't handle something like that right now."
Orthos raised an eyebrow as T'Sara likewise turned her head to regard her daughter in law. "There is no need to raise one's voice." she commented. "The Pheromones have been fully purged from the life support system." she added. "But I can see why you hate this ship."
"One of the reasons why I wanted a transfer was all the wacky things that happen on this carnival ship." Daisy told T'Sara. "I come back to do some routine paperwork and next thing I know this shit happens. I don't need this in my life."
"Why do you think I went to become Master Chief of Independant Fleet Ops in the first place." Orthos responded quietly. "This ship mom... isn't a ship... its a flying circus."
"That bad?"
"You have no idea." Orthos responded darkly. "But yes... It is... that bad. Torilla Yamaguchi stuck in a transfer request and Admiral Nechayev honored it." he explained. "Thats why Tom Lasky is now Exec.."
"I don't know if it's Tane's leadership or that the ship is cursed." Daisy stated. "I do know that this task force must be the butt of many Star Fleet jokes."
Orthos sighed softly to himself. "Personally... I think its the ship itself." he responded.
"Commodore Tane cannot be as bad as you say." T'Sara added.
"I didn't say she was bad, her leadership style is...unorthodox." Daisy explained.
T'Sara raised an eyebrow. "Go on?" she inquired. Orthos rose to his feet. "I'll be back in a moment with drinks.." he remarked as he went off to do just that. His footfalls were drowned out by the soft chatter of two women talking.
"One green tea." He said softly to the replicator. "One orange punch, extra large and one glass of water, five degrees Celsius extra large."
Orthos then picked up the three drinks and brought them back over to the table, before dishing them out.
"If your not here it is hard to explain." Daisy muddled through her thoughts. "I mean, we have these weird little alien squirrels running the flight decks. The head pilot always seems to be on leave or in detox. We always get assigned personnel that are overweight and rather stupid. They seem to get killed in rather odd deaths."
T'Sara accepted her drink as she fought not to laugh. "I see your point my dear." she responded.
"It makes me wonder if Commodore Tane looks for these things or someone in Star Fleet Command has an twisted sense of humor."
T'Sara raised an eyebrow, which made her look Vulcan. "Probably the latter." she responded as she drank a mouthful of her water. "Sounds like someone at Fleet is using this command as a dumping ground for failures."
"Why send them here?" Daisy asked T'Sara. "Why not just push them out of Star Fleet? How did some of them even get in?"
"I wish I knew." Orthos responded. "But you are right.."
"We need to find Commodore Tane." Daisy told Orthos.
Orthos regarded his wife. "Okay." he was confused as to why but he was not about to argue with his wife. "Are you satisfactory mother?"
"I'm fine son... You two go on ahead." T'Sara waved them both off.
"Where would she be?" Daisy asked either Orthos or T'Sara.
Orthos shrugged. "I honestly... have no idea.." he paused.
T'Sara shrugged. "Gods knows."
"Computer: locate Commodore Tane." Daisy queried.
"Commodore Zara Tane is in the flight hanger." the computer replied.
"Okay, let's chase her down." Daisy advised Orthos.
"Okay... Why do we want to chase down Zara?" Orthos inquired.
"So we know what the hell is going on and try and organize some of this chaos." Daisy told him.
Orthos considered it. "We might be better off requesting aid from someone not on the ship.... Do you get along with Captain Yamaguchi?"
"Alright, why don't we reestablish contact with her?" Daisy requested.
"I mention it because Torilla wasn't affected by the Pineapple Incident that we're dealing with." Orthos responded with a smile.
"Was that because she is a powerful psion or was her ship out of range?" Daisy asked.
"I have no idea." Orthos admitted. "But I assume the latter."
"The important thing is that she was not effected." Daisy replied. "We should contact her for guidance."
