Posted on Mon Mar 2nd, 2020 @ 3:10pm by Admiral Jake Yamaguchi & Captain L'Ruan "Shield" Dragon & Commodore Neban Hular & Zuko Omakan

Mission: Mission 41: The Changing of the Guard
Location: Various Locations - Roanoke Battlegroup
Timeline: 0930Hrs - August 15th, 2391

Junior Captain L'Ruan regarded Captain Neban Hular who was about twice her size and mass. "Captain Neban." she greeted him.

"Captain L'Ruan. Congratulations are in order... I hope the USS Toronto will be worthy of you." Neban responded.

"I am certain that she will." she commented with a smile.

Neban raised an eyebrow. "The sight of a Vulcan smiling... its a little strange." he admitted as the other people began to file into the room.

Roevin walked into the room with Teval and Tom Lasky, Zuko choosing to remain outside. Teval was the one to say it, "Yeah, sorry we're a bit late, we kinda got held up on the Argonne."

Lasky sighed. "I don't wanna talk about it." he sighed.

Teval looked at Neban saying, "Yeah, my advice, if you see a guy called Colonel Nye, don't even talk to the man, complete asshole."

Neban raised an eyebrow. "Colonel Lucas Nye?" he inquired. "I've heard of him. " he paused. "Alright... Argonne is now at the bottom of my supply lists.." he then slowly smiled. "Next item?"

Roevin pulled up his PADD, "Yeah we came here to discuss the ships upgrades. Avalon is going to get upgraded to Anchorage class standards, but she is going to be in the dockyard for the whole time though."

"I understand." Neban responded. "I'll get orders cut for shore leave for my crew, they should like that..." he responded. "How long will the Avalon be in for?"

"3 months," Roevin added," we have to add a considerable amount of armor plating, which is going to take the longest. We will have to install the transphasic shield system, and change out the main SIF field generator. Then there is adding the VLS missile system as our final upgrade."

Neban nodded his head as he listened. "I understand." he responded. "Even the Anchorage class ships need to be able to protect themselves..." he shrugged. "Besides... I'll let the dock engineers handle matters and my crew will get extended shore leave which they'll like."

Thats the plan," Zuko added," Though you will want you crew back for the last couple of weeks so they can get trained up on the new tech."

"Okay.. So two months of leave.. my guys won't complain." Neban responded as he made a note on his PADD which looked stupidly small in his massive hands as a smile graced his face. "What of the Toronto?" he inquired

The Vulcan woman was sitting quietly as she waited her turn.

"Being upgraded to Avandar Standards, essentially a light escort cruiser, with a lot of defensive weapons," Roevin answered.

The Vulcan woman regarded the smaller being before her. "I've noticed that every Federation ship could almost be classified as a warship... Is this true?" she inquired.

Neban regarded her. "We're now engaged in something of an arms race.." he explained quietly. "We have little choice but to keep up."

"Maybe we should try more talking and less force."

Roevin nodded, "And this time, the Federation should not be merely keeping up and actually go for surpassing our opponents."

Neban regarded the smaller Vulcan. "Two things... One. you're assuming the opposition cares and two... will we sat anything they want to hear.." he then smiled. "and three... talking of often seen as a sign of weakness."

L'Ruan regarded him as she raised an eyebrow. "Your comment is illogical."

"My statement is a matter of fact.. you just don't like it... in any case.. We didn't come here to argue." Neban turned to Roevin. "Continue with what you were saying... what exactly was the Toronto supposed to be getting in terms of upgrades since our Vulcan pacifist doesn't appreciate being protected well enough to do her job."

Roevin shook his head, " Nah I don't have anything else to add."

Neban smiled. "Right then. I'm going to cut my crew loose for two and a half months.." as he regarded the Vulcan. "I recommend you do the same... but I leave that to you."
