| Personal History | Captain Neban Hular was born in 2346, as he was Capellan, he grew up on Capella IV as part of the House of Hular and as the elder brother of three boys, his family had high hopes for his military career and he would meet them all by joining Starfleet in security. Joining in 2362. Neban wasn’t a star recruit at the academy, but did pick up most things with ease; phaser rifles, phasers, running, climbing, EVA and zero-G movement came naturally to him. He had no real trouble learning starships operations such as; communications, LCARS operation, and scanners as he’d already served on a starship for a year prior to joining Starfleet. Out of all the classes it was Starfleet Hand to Hand combat and weapons training where he really excelled. Neban also underwent department specialization training. Security School wasn’t too difficult, a few courses on rules and regulations, more Hand to Hand combat classes, instruction on driving the Argo Buggy and the use of its Type-IV Phaser Canon. Neban graduated with honors, his first posting to the USS Brandenburg, an older Excelsior class ship, would test the very limits of his skills as he was trapped behind enemy lines against a squad of Cardassians, separated from his unit who were rescued in the meantime. Neban was able to slowly pick them off one at a time until it was him and two left, he had been wounded so he went for it, he took them both on and while he was badly wounded, he was able to kill them both and in a fit of rage, he ripped out their neck-bones and he made them into a necklace, an item of contraband that he keeps with him ever since. The rest of his time on the USS Brandenburg was rather uneventful and he was transferred to the USS Bellerophon, a Nebula class starship that was only a couple of years old but he was here less then two months before she was destroyed at the battle in the Wolf System, he helped to save forty something personnel that were trapped in the main hanger by having them all board shuttles and then beam out as many as they could from the ship. Neban watched in horror as the entire fleet was destroyed before the Endeavour picked him and and as many others as they could before she was driven from the battle. As fortune was with the Federation, the Cube was destroyed over Earth as the Enterprise pulled a rabbit from their collective hats. He went over to the Endeavour where he spent the next several years, this assignment was uneventful and he was promoted quickly, showing how skilled he was. In the run up to the Dominion War, he began preparing ahead of time to face the Dominion but what he didn't know was that the Cardassians would have a major hand in this coming fight as well. He was assigned to the Courageous under her original commander, a man named Michael Henderson who was her Captain. This arrangement persisted until the battle of Coridan when both Captain Henderson and Commander Reynolds were both killed in action and the most of the senior staff on the bridge were either killed or wounded except Jake Yamaguchi, Carl Patterson and himself. The three conspired to keep the USS Courageous in the fight and in one piece. The three men were given the usual medals and commendations as well as the usual drivel from Admirals about fighting the good fight and the other garbage. Jake was the senior guy and he assumed command as Carl Patterson became his Exec, Neban became his second officer and this arrangement remained like this until Carl Patterson was given his own command and then Neban became Jake's Exec for almost twelve years. The two men became very close as Jake introduced Neban to his wife, a Bajoran woman named Tienn Ezas. The two were married a year later and children followed quickly until Neban had a collection of children all his own. Yamaguchi regarded Neban before he finally got him a command of his own as he knew Neban would never leave the Courageous, he was offered his own command and it took some gentle prodding from Jake to get him to accept which Neban finally did. The Avalon was a cargo variant of the Galaxy and she spent her time hauling a lot of equipment around for various battle-groups. Neban was on assignment when the call came in from Jake that he needed someone to watch over the USS Roanoke and her battlegroup, Jake trusted only one man to handle it, Neban himself and Neban accepted the posting with no prodding from anyone else, something that surprised his wife. In mid to late 2392. Jake Yamaguchi stuck in the paperwork for Neban to be promoted to Commodore and to take over the logistical support section of Division six of 1st Independent that was forming, thankfully neither Hular or his wife protested their promotions or their transfers. |
