One Small Step - Part Two

Posted on Fri Mar 20th, 2020 @ 6:22am by Lieutenant Commander Marie Hasti-Antilles & Division Admiral Celeste Yamaguchi-Hobbs & Colonel Brianna Hobbs

Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Yamaguchi Quarters - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 1830Hrs - August 3rd, 2393

Celeste Yamaguchi-Hobbs blinked her eyes open, her son was lying on the bed before her as he continued to sleep. Celeste smiled as she admired him, she slowly moved in the bed before she placed her feet onto the deck, she then stood up wearing a pair of crop shorts and a sports bra. Celeste turned back to see if she had woken Jackson and she had not he was still asleep.

The bedroom door opened as Brianna Hobbs entered.

Celeste smiled at her spouse. "Hey Bree.." before her smile faded. "Are you alright?"

"I'm a little nauseous. It might have been something I ate." Brianna replied with a little pain on her face.

Yamaguchi-Hobbs turned before she retrieved the family medkit from under the bed. "okay, take a seat. I'm going to give you the quick once over. Alright?"
she said quietly.

"It's just an upset stomach but if it makes you at ease go get your medkit and give me the once over." Hobbs reluctantly consented.

Celeste cracked open the medkit. "Alright, take a seat and let me look you over," she commented, while Brianna did so. Yamaguchi-Hobbs gave her wife a quick check, she frowned before she did the same check again and then when the result was the same. Celeste tapped the display on her tricorder. "Mmmhmmm." she keyed for a longer and deeper scan.

The result was the same. Celeste smiled. "Bree. It's not something you ate." she paused. "You are pregnant," she added. "I was wondering when this day would arrive," Yamaguchi-Hobbs added as if making conversation.

Brianna sat quietly for a moment. "I'm not sure how to react. I'm both surprised that I'm carrying a child or that somehow you were expecting this."

Celeste gently sat down next to her spouse. "Do you recall a week or so before Christmas. The year before Jackson was born... you were deadlocked in work and I was home alone?. This was a couple of months after I became pregnant with Jackson." she paused as she recalled the events in question. "I received a visit from a friend who's from way outta town." she giggled slightly at the statement. "She showed me a possible future with Jackson leading a Federation battlegroup in the battle against a threat against our galaxy. I got to meet him.. You would be proud of the man I saw Bree. I know I am." she paused for a moment. "I also got to see a woman named Zoe Hobbs, she had your eyes but what I didn't know was who her father was.. or when she'd be born." as she gently placed her hand over Bree's abdomen. "Your child... could be Zoe."

Brianna sat in silence as she listened to Celeste. "I'm not sure how you went through time but that's okay," Brianna replied in a clumsy manner. "I was thinking of the name Zoe but that was for a kitten, not a baby."

"The friend of mine was a member of the Q continuum. She seemed genuinely concerned about my welfare and well being. After the events, she took me to dinner in nineteen fifty-five, I think. In San Francisco." she paused. "I know it was nineteen fifty-five as I saw an American Essex aircraft carrier passing under the golden gate bridge." she smiled. "If the future I saw comes to pass.. then Jackson has a part to play and so does Zoe."

"Your overwhelming me here," Brianna admitted. "First I find out I'm pregnant and then you tell me you were expecting it to happen and you know who she is. To be honest, I don't want to know Zoe's future."

Celeste nodded as she held her silence. "I only saw bits and pieces, both Jackson and Zoe were not young. They were... older than us." she paused as she gently placed her hand on his wife's shoulder. "It'll be fine."

Brianna smiled at Celeste. "I know, this is just so much right now. I woke up with my body banged and bruised. Now I have a child."

"We'll make it work," Celeste answered with a smile as she gently slid her arm around her wife's waist. "Its gonna be okay. Besides. We have all that experience with me being pregnant with Jackson..." she added. "We know how it's done and I know you were considering it but not quite this soon."

"Thank you," Brianna whispered as she cuddled closer to Celeste. "I love you."

Celeste gently slid both her arms around her wife's shoulders and torso. "I know. I love you too. Its gonna be okay Bree. You'll see.." Celeste truly believed what she was saying as she smiled widely. "Once word of this gets out I will need to deal with mom, once and for all. But that's alright. I'm not worried about it... Right now, you're more important..."

"I need to tell Zoe's father he has a new child," Brianna stated without enthusiasm.

Celeste regarded her spouse with concern in her dark eyes. "Do you want me there for support?" she asked. "In case he starts shit with you. Say the word and I can remove him from this base with prejudice."

"I can handle myself." Brianna smiled at Celeste. "Besides, from what I know of him he doesn't seem the type."

Celeste nodded. "Alright, so long as you are sure. I know this is a lot for you, all at once but I'm here and so are the kits, okay. Besides.. Once Marie finds out, word will get around quick, by days end tomorrow, you'll have over two dozen messages wishing you well in this." she suddenly grinned.

"Yeah, not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing," Brianna replied.

"It's a good thing, Bree. Marie is the one who looked after me, she helped me with advice with Jackson as she's had five of her own." she paused. "Marie will be a great help to you. But I'll let you be the one to tell her about your pregnancy." Celeste explained. "You don't need to tell her if you don't want to," she commented with a gentle smile. "Would you like me to talk to Zoe's father?" she inquired. "I will try to be polite."
