Posted on Sun Mar 1st, 2020 @ 5:36pm by Commander Kristen Stow-Jones & Lieutenant Commander Jennifer Nettles

Mission: Mission 34: Between Two Fires
Location: Various Locations - USS Clydesdale
Timeline: 1015Hrs - June 25th 2391

Lieutenant Commander Jennifer Nettles sighed softly as she reviewed the information on the wall monitor, a sigh escaped her lips as she really did not fully understand what she was seeing. "Well Number one... What do you think?" she inquired of the older woman who was a couple of inches taller then she was.

"I think the Romulans should learn to be more subtle in their ship deployments along the boarder.." McKnight commented. "Unless they are being obnoxious to do something else." Kristen knew her skipper was much younger that she was but also that she was not fully qualified to be a destroyer commander or qualified to command anything really.

Nettles sipped her drink as she considered her thoughts.

McKnight tapped the 'map' once, the star map quickly magnified as it pulled up the information on the 'target' that Kristen had selected. "Romulan Valdore Class Warbird." the display intoned before it displayed the information and specifications of said warbird. "Three Valdores and a D'Deridex in the area..." Kristen smiled. "Are they allied under the Romulan flag or are they fighting each other... the way that others have done?"

Nettles sighed. "Who knows..?"

"Well we can ask Starfleet Intelligence for their information on the matter.... I can look into it if you wish"

"Sure... go for it." Nettles didn't sound sure of herself at all as McKnight regarded the slightly shorter woman beside her. "Captain..Remission to be blunt with you?" McKnight inquired

"Oh come on Kristen you know-"

McKnight simply ran the other woman over, she showed Nettles no mercy and no quarter. "You might feel you're not up to the task and you might not want the job but until you get replaced. you are the one in command so act like you at least give a dammn about the job,
these are your people... not mine.."

Nettles nodded, to prod the rest of it along. "If you had not made your family a priority, you'd be commanding your own ship by now.."

"Yes, I would be but I had other priorities. You are in command... not me." McKnight responded. You must at least show these people that you do give a dammn about it ..... So I'm going to contact Starfleet Intelligence and ask them.... you need to spend more time on the bridge so go and sit out there and at least get to know your people... and quit hiding in here."

"How dare you speak to me like this.." Nettles gasped.

"You're not leaving me any real choices here Jennifer." McKnight commented. "I've watched you since we were assigned together and you have gone out of your way to avoid dealing with the crew." she sighed softly. "I can go get Gwen to have you relieved of command and I can assume command in your place. I'd rather not do that as it would cause me far too many issues to deal with.... But... don't think I won't do it Jennifer."

"You... you wouldn't ..."

"Why shouldn't I.." McKnight growled. "Every time we're in here, we fight, we're not getting along and I frankly feel this ship needs a Captain who is semi qualified...." a sigh escaped the chestnut haired woman's face. "Jen, I know you stuck in for reassignment... but that doesn't give you the right to think you can get away with this level of stupidity..."

"Don't you have work?" Nettles finally snapped as she lost her temper.

"Yes... So do you... so get out there, sit in your chair and lead this crew until you are replaced...I need this office so I can place my call." McKnight tapped the star map a second time as she suddenly reminded herself of why she was placing her call to Starfleet Intelligence. "Go already." as she all but threw Nettles out of her own office.

"This isn't over woman..." Nettles made the mistake of saying that in the presence of half the bridge crew who all stopped what they were doing to look at her, as they discovered that there was a serious element of viciousness to their Captain, their Exec and the relationship which had clearly been tainted by animosity.

McKnight poked her head out. "Hey Tiris, would you mind contacting Starfleet Intelligence for me. I need to talk to the Sector Chief."

The Bolian seated at the Operations station, nodded her head. "Willdo sir." she responded as she let her fingers run over the display before her. "Connecting you call now."

McKnight withdrew into the office as Nettles stalked over to her command chair, seething with rage.
