Commander Torilla Yamaguchi nodded to her eldest daughter who passed by her as she entered Sickbay. "Hey Beth... is Nalla around... I'm here for my appointment?"
"Let me check for you sir." Elizabeth Yamaguchi responded with a smile. "Why don't you come wait over here..." as she led her mother over to a biobed. "What are you in for?" in this case it was a rhetorical question rather then actual fact finding.
"I don't want more children... my body needs to lose something.." a sigh escaped her mother as Beth gently rubbed her shoulders, as her daughter and not as a medical officer. "Alright."
Torilla nodded her head as she watched Elizabeth go off into the lab. "Lieutenant Furban, Commander Yamaguchi has arrived for her appointment." she explained why she was addressing Furban at present.
"Send her in," Nalla spoke as she began to put away her current project.
Elizabeth nodded. "Yes Doctor." she moved slowly, still uneasy and still recovering from her operation the previous day, she emerged as she went over to her mother. "This way Commander." she addressed her mother by rank and not as 'mom'. Because she was on duty and she wanted to make sure everyone saw that she could handle working alongside family.
"How are you?" Nalla both asked aloud and telepathically to her counterpart.
Torilla felt and heard Nalla's voice, she turned her head as she regarded the Deltan woman. "I'm alright...more or less.." she admitted, the look on her face said that she was anything but alright. "After the havoc I went through with the twins.... I don't think I could do that again. I very nearly lost them and it was only thanks to Jill... she gave them life.." Torilla's eyes were big with unshed tears. "No..." she whispered. "No more..." she paused. "Nalla.." as she gently touched the Deltan woman on the shoulder. "Take my ovaries.... maybe you can use them for your own work..." she paused. "Don't deny me this..." the last three words were almost a plea.
Nalla stiffened by the touch for only a moment. Sometimes she forgot that Torilla trusted her daily improvements of control over her Deltan abilities.
"I'll need a local," Nalla told Elizabeth. "Do you prefer to do this in my lab in privacy, Commander?"
Torilla nodded her head. "Yes.." she admitted softly.
Elizabeth nodded her head. "I'll see to it Doctor." and with that, she went off to take care of the request.
Nalla nodded and opened a few cabinets until she found her meditation pillow. She sat it on the long laboratory table before she gently patted it.
"It might not be as comfortable as a biobed, but it is the best I can offer," Nalla intoned apologetically.
Torilla smiled. "I'll be alright... I've dealt with far worse."
"I wish I could have the joy you have with your children," Nalla noted almost mournfully with the situation. So many kids, so many joyful memories. Memories Nalla carried too, but never got to experience herself.
Torilla regarded her, her eyes shining with compassion. "You'll find someone Nalla... he's out there..." the larger woman responded. "It was like that for me and Jake... an external force brought us together... the Borg... they killed his mother and while he and I were already friends at this point... it helped us to realize that we had a future together."
"That sounds very romantic," Nalla agreed as she spooled up the scanners.
"You have my memories and experiences... use them to help you." Torilla regarded the smaller woman. "In any case... Lets get this show on the road..."
Nalla nodded, waited for Elizabeth to return, then she administered the local into Torilla's abdomen.
"Lay back and try to relax," Nalla told her friend. "I will use subdermal technology to remove the sacks, but I need you to remain still."
Torilla did just that, she slowly allowed herself to sit back, before she closed her eyes, before letting her mind drift as she let herself go into a trance. Torilla knew that Nalla would wake her when the time came.
