Mission: Mission 33: Losing the Peace
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1800Hrs - May 7th, 2391

It was several hours after the incident with the gas and the drugs as Rachael shook her head. "Ooohh... What the heck.." she moaned softly as she found herself next to the human male she had met before but she didn't know his name, but she had jumped him, the feeling was mutual as he had gone for her too.

"Whats going on?" Rachael asked him. "Other than the obvious I mean.."

Ennis smiled as he laid on his right since to look at her. "If I had to guess? Doctor Olmos would say your ship just survived another polywater incident."

Rachael blinked. "At least the kids were dirtside.. " a sigh escaped her lips as she regarded him. "At least you were gentle.... Well as gentle as one could be considering..."

"I'm Ennis," the young man continued to smile. "We never really introduced ourselves."

"Rachael Yamaguchi." the younger woman responded. "Polywater.. That normally forms as a result of exposure to high level gravity wells... but that applies only to standing water sources like puddles.." she raised an eyebrow. "This was in gaseous form.. and spread around the ship.." she paused. "and our clothes are missing too..." she commented. "I don't call that a polywater infection." a sigh escaped her lips. "Alright.. come on.. lets go back to my place... so we can get some new clothes.."

"We code word polywater to mean your captain's Klingon recreational stuffs," Ennis laughed gently as he took Rachael by the hand. "I admit, drug-induced or not, it's been rough for me, since my wife died. And I'm glad you chose me."

"Oh." Rachael paused. "Makes sense I guess.." as she felt him take her hand as she stopped talking. "Well... Mom told me about what happened the last time this happened... I was part of a resupply mission..and I wasn't present." she paused. "You wanna come to my place.. I don't know about you but.. I'm hungry and I can provide better accommodations than this....place." she looked around before turning her attention back to him.

"I'd love to," Ennis agreed. "Nice cup of coffee and a meal might be good."

Rachael smiled before she turned and led him out the door and down the hall. A short time later they were inside Rachael's quarters, where one could see evidence of Saki everywhere. "Help yourself to the replicator...while I go get dressed.." she seemed almost hesitant to go anywhere.

"Saki is a gifted child," Ennis remarked as looked at some of the drawings of the girl. Then he walked over to the replicator and had it make him a pair of boxers, cargo shorts, and a white tank.

As he dressed, he took in the home even more. It reminded him a lot of his quarters. Sports balls all over the place with dings in the wall. Especially a hole in the wall where a tennis ball was stuck.

Rachael smiled. "Well... Saki does well.. and that... That was Saki having a bad day and I've never bothered to clean it up." she then shrugged. "Besides... its an improvement.." as she turned to regard Ennis. "I should mention that I prefer to get to know people before I seduce them.." she admitted.

"I do too," Ennis admitted. "You're the first I've felt comfortable with in this manner, since my late wife... You'd of liked her. Adventurous, but very giving to those in need."

"Sounds like she was a hell of a lady." Rachael responded. "I'm Sorry..." she added quietly, she was clearly comfortable in only her skin as she made no moves to dress.

"I'm more sorry for my kids... They'll never truly know her as I do," Ennis admitted with a small sigh. "But I digress. This is a sad topic for such a great evening."

Rachael smiled at him as she indicated the bedroom. "Just in case someone brings home the kids... I don't want them to see me in nought but my skin." as she turned and led him into the bedroom, the furnishings were simplistic but elegant. "Make yourself at home." she commented.

Ennis began to disrobe himself again as he crawled into bed. But this time, he simply engulfed Rachael into a hug.

"I should take you surfing at some point, Lassie," he offered with a huge grin.

Rachael smiled as she climbed into the bed next to him as she curled up next to him. "Alright... I've never been surfing though.."

"Back in Ireland, I lived in a place famous for the surf," Ennis explained. "Used to run to the beach after school most afternoons as a kid."

Rachael relaxed as she lay next to him in bed. "Sounds like great fun... what about the kids?" she inquired. "Saki has never seen a beach before... its time to change that."

"I take Sarah and Danny to the holodeck whenever time permits," Ennis admitted with a grin. "So yes. The next time we get time off, I'd love to take you and Saki as well."

"Sounds good. Let me know when and I'll be there.... it would need to be after boot camp of course... I leave in a few days.."

"Such a shame too," Ennis sighed with a bittersweet smile. "I really loved getting to know you."

Rachael regarded him. "The boot camp is being run by Roanoke personnel on the planet below. I'll come visit during weekend passes. and we can chat via subspace." as she regarded him.

"I'd like that a lot," Ennis agreed. "But you also need to chat with your kid too. Sarah says she's picked on a lot."

"Saki has told me a few things..." Rachael paused. "I asked Lieutenant Benice to look into the matter quietly." she explained. "Saki has also spoken about Sarah a few times too."

"Sarah's a good lass," Ennis smiled. "Works hard in school and even helps out with Danny."

Rachael regarded Ennis. "Saki is extremely intelligent... and she learns in her own way.." she sighed. "I was never able to give her a decent childhood... until now."

"Well it's a good thing tha lass didn't grow up fully in that environment... She's not as damaged as some of the medical experts think," Ennis spoke in a very positive way.

"Wait... Saki is a subject of discussion among medical officers in this battlegroup?" Rachael inquired. "Do I need to take steps to protect my daughter?"

"No... But parents of kids that go to the school talk," Ennis tried to push aside gently. "You'll note I'm not one to jump on that bandwagon."

Rachael regarded him in silence a moment. "Saki has been through enough without the ignorant tormenting her further..." she paused. "I'm going to start looking into having her homeschooled. She's miserable in that school.."

"Finding someone that is an excellent homeschool teacher is hard," Ennis warned her. "And you need to be careful about pulling her away from peers. If she doesn't learn to socialise, she'll never do well as an adult."

Rachael regarded Ennis as she sighed softly. "I've heard horror stories about the school system.... and not all of them are from Saki... Jiao Anderson's daughters speak of it too... they call it and I quote, a festering , stinking shit pile.." she raised an eyebrow. "I am going to look into it all the same."

"Sarah likes the lessons... Doesn't speak much about everything else," Ennis noted, and then took on a concerned look. "Tha lass is hiding something. But I don't know if I should pry. She knows I'm here for her though."

"Same with Saki... That girl has gotten very good at shutting me out." Rachael sighed. "I think we might need to look into this school a little closer..." she regarded him. "Maybe I'm just being paranoid...but then, maybe I'm not."

"Kids think if their parents toy in their school affairs that things might get worse," Ennis pointed out with a humored smile. "Can't say I blame the lassies, but I agree with ya all the same."
