Mission: Mission 32: Tales of Tarod
Location: Planet Surface - Tarod IX
Timeline: 1515Hrs - April 26th, 2391

Commander Torilla Yamaguchi and her away team arrived on the planet surface, she looked around as she took stock of her people who were all standing around. "Alright.." she commented.

Telios Wintersnow made her way over with her collection of personal as she regarded Torilla Yamaguchi. "Commander." she nodded her head.

"Luhanna mentioned you to me... I'm glad to meet you at last Commander." Yamaguchi smiled

Wintersnow smiled back. "I've missed my mother.... It'll be good to see her again... "

Torilla Yamaguchi turned to Alyssa McKinley. "What do you think they'll throw at us?"

Alyssa looked at the colony, which seemed to be in O.K. condition, before saying," Who knows, could be just about anything."

Captain Tienn Nerra approached as she smiled at the other woman, then she noticed her former Commanding Officer. "Major Rohr, Unbelievable.." she commented with a wide grin. "This really is old home week.."

Daisy looked a little surprised. "Captain Tienn, good to see you." She cheerfully greeted the Bajoran. "Where are you assigned?"

"USS Dreamcrusher." she cheerfully responded. "and you're on the Roanoke.... tell me Orthos has been behaving himself..." she inquired.
"Yeah... some joker on the Shadow said they were promoting me and giving me this posting. I laughed at them.... sure enough he was serious.."

It is said that Klingons never blush but Daisy was half Klingon. Her face turned a little pink. "Orthos and I are getting married, we are expecting a child."

Tienn smiled cheerfully. "Fantastic news!" she responded as she fell into line with her on time superior officer.

Tag Others, if needs be

The governor of the colony, Emmett Tresher, combed his grey receding hair once more before he brushed his brown parka. He and his entourage of planetary leaders awaited the away team at the main entrance of the capitol.

Snowy mountains lined the backdrop of this city, along with many lights from what might of been cabin lights from within the mountainscape itself. Likely resort towns and the like.

The city itself had very few skyscrapers, but there were many rows of buildings. And sections of the city served specific functions, such as industrial, government, school, housing, business...

To the sides of the hoverlanes entering the city, were staff hover cars and limos for the Roanoke guests to travel the rest of the way in. And as they came closer to the citizens of the colony, Tresher was relieved. At last, they would have some measure of peace. More so given some of the taller buildings were scorched from Romulan disruptor blasts.

"People of Tarod Nine welcome you," the slightly pudgy man spoke in greeting. His brown eyes littered with relief.

Torilla Yamaguchi smiled as she regarded the man who addressed her. "Hello sir. I'm Commander Torilla Yamaguchi, USS Roanoke... and this is Commander Telios Wintersnow.. USS Dreamcrusher."

Normally Daisy didn't like working with civilians. In this case she could see that these people really needed help from Star Fleet. "Hello Sir. I'm Major Daisy Rohr. I'm in command of the Marines and they will be instructing your militia."

"I'm Governor Emmet Tresher," the older man replied and motioned to his staff cars. "I was under the impression your people were simply going to take care of the problem."

Daisy was not a diplomat and had no desire to be one. She looked at Torilla and hoped she could satisfy the concerns of the man.

"We're going to help you protect yourselves..." Yamaguchi responded. "We're been trying the same approach for decades and its earned us nothing but dead colonies and millions of lives lost... So.. with your help, we're going to try something new..."

"I can try to put out a call, but the majority of the citizens here believe in nonviolence," Tresher replied diplomatically.

Yamaguchi nodded. "Fair enough.... However others in the universe don't share your ideals... as noble as they are... sometimes one must fight for them... We are here to show you how to do that, we'll provide you with the tools to do just that..." the older woman explained, the other starfleet personnel following.

"Well I have staff hovercars and limos to take your people where you need to go, Commander. Just let my people know where you want to inspect and tour. Though I am curious to know why your captain is not here to greet us as well," Tresher asked with a bit of concern.

"Captain Tane is coordinating with Starfleet Command in this area."
Yamaguchi responded. "seeing how much support is around, she's also watching for the Romulans in this area."

"Is her ship able to handle a Romulan warlord attack group?" the governor asked in amazement.

Telios smiled but it was Torilla who answered. "USS Roanoke is not alone... she has friends with her." as a smile graced her lips. "We got a Battleship with us.."

"Then hopefully that'll be all we need to scare these Romulans off," Tresher spoke with ease. "They attacked one of our shopping complexes for food crate two weeks ago."

"By the time we get finished.. the Romulans will regret coming here." Yamaguchi responded as she produced a PADD. "This is the plan that myself and my guys had worked out. I'd like you to look it over and see what you think. We need your permission to help your people.."

"I will have to go over this with my board of directors," Tresher half-deflected, for he knew his people would be dead set against mobilising. it was against their way of life. "This fortification of the city plan looks very promising, actually. More so if you are making auto-targeting systems."

"Which we are..." Yamaguchi sighed. "You can't ignore the issue you have here... considering the Romulans have already attacked you're people... Starfleet can't be everywhere so we're going to go to various planets and help them help themselves. You were first on our list..." she sighed softly. "Peace is all well and good... but sometimes you must fight for it... the Romulans will come again.."

"Why don't we go through your plan of attack in helping us, present it to the board. I'm fairly certain the infrastructure ideas your captain forwarded my office will be approved," Tresher spoke very excitedly.

"We want to build a few bases... then teach and train your people in how to defend yourselves. The plan we had developed would see this militia work in much the same way the old national guard system worked in several countries from Earth a few centuries ago..."

Tresher was hesitant. Their very way of life would change on his orders. That was, if he made them alone and it failed. His board of directors, however, would carry far larger blame if this endeavor imploded.

"You are asking me to change the culture of my people without their consideration," Tresher finally spoke aloud. "I cannot do that. The representatives of them, in our government, should speak for them before I decide on anything."

"I understand." Yamaguchi responded. "When do we meet with this person?" she inquired.

"Persons. Board of Directors, really. The Director of Commerce, Planetary Director of Education, Medical Director, and possibly the Worker's Union Representative... If she shows up," Tresher began to explain. "They feel they aren't represented well or listened to much, as their jobs aren't as fulfilling as a lot of others."

"Well... they have my full and undivided attention." Yamaguchi responded softly. "Whatever they wish to say... I will listen.."

"Splendid! So do you want a tour of the city first? Or would you like to address the Board of Directors?" Tresher asked as he signaled the staff drivers to open the hovercar doors for all their guests.

"If you don't mind. I'd like to address the board of directors.. Might as well get that sorted out first.. Its not that I don't want to see your city... the Romulans might return while we're still talking.."

"That's more than acceptable," Tresher agreed.

Yamaguchi nodded. "Alright.. If we have time later... I'd love to tour the city but... first we will tend to your needs... you stuck in a request for aid several months ago... would you mind reminding me what the request was for...?" she inquired.
