Oathkeeper - Part One

Posted on Sat Feb 29th, 2020 @ 12:49am by Commander Nalla Furban & Lieutenant Commander Gabriel Yamaguchi & Lieutenant Savannah Yamaguchi & Fleet Captain Torilla Yamaguchi

Mission: Mission 32: Tales of Tarod
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1000Hrs - April 13th, 2391

Ensign Gabriel Yamaguchi was under no false impressions as to why he was here or what was going on, he was here because of the fact he and his wife needed extra help in having children as he had inherited the Halanan medical issues with childbearing.

Savannah likewise knew why they were as she gently rubbed the protruding bump on her belly, she was about five months along, just over halfway with her pregnancy.

The nurse came over with two questionnaires. "Here you guys go. would you mind filling them out." as she handed them two styluses, so they could write their answers.

Gabriel went to it instantly whereas Savannah was slower. "Mmmm.." and then she started too.

From afar, Nalla watched the two with curiosity. The subtle squeezes on the arms to comfort each other. The sort of commitment she never could feel with another. To be cut off from the world of understanding those little things of social behavior that everyone else took for granted.

Torilla had gotten Nalla to a point where she did not have to meditate so much, but moments like this, Nalla fought hard not to. To hear the thoughts of others at random moments, or just hear things on high decibels no human ear could? That was painful.

Still, as much as Nalla was jealous of the two soulmates, she did not want that life for herself. To procreate meant passing on a very bad set of genes that opened any offspring she might have, to a plethora of problems. But she would do what she could for a race of people her friend belonged to.

Savannah meanwhile gently rubbed her husband's arm as a smile appeared on her lips. "You're worrying.... relax, it'll be alright."

"I just hate medical facilities.." Gabriel sighed softly. "I inherited my mom's people's issues... and I'm going to pass them along to our children."

"I know." Savannah soothed as she regarded her husband, compassion in her deep brown eyes. "Not if we can help it... Whats going on is not your fault Gabe, stop blaming yourself for the misdeeds of others..."

Gabriel regarded his wife. "I can't help it..."

"Don't do that to yourself... Believe me.. Its not worth it." Savannah was an orphan, she took a moment to adjust her uniform as she sighed softly. "I blamed myself for my parent's deaths... you helped me through that... let me help you now."

Gabriel smiled. "I never could say no to you.." he turned to the medical officer, she was small, bald and extremely good looking. "Doctor... What can we do for you?" Gabriel inquired

"Umm..." Nalla took a moment to remember some of her lessons with Torilla. "Well I had a talk with your mother about what I believe to be a genetic problem within your mother's racial genome. In order to have any sort of answer, however, I need to do some genetic testing and possibly some laboratory experiments with in vitro fertilization to test said theories."

Gabriel raised an eyebrow as he regarded the Doctor. "So... I'm to be a test dummy for your experiments...." he inquired in a soft voice, he felt his wife's hand on his.

Torilla Yamaguchi sighed softly. "I have work to do with you.." she muttered to herself.

"Not experiments. That implies subjecting you to treatments for an already proven illness. I am simply wanting to narrow down the theories of why your mother's people cannot reproduce properly," Nalla corrected without noticing his unease. "Since your mother has produced several offspring, I suspect it could be a defect passed along through the male chromosomes."

"Okay." Yamaguchi raised an eyebrow. "So... what exactly do you need from me.?"

"I would like a blood sample, as well a seamen sample. Then I would like to subject your semen to donated eggs for fertilization. This way we can see where the fertility issue may or may not occur," Nalla noted in a very scientific manner.

Gabriel regarded Nalla with a mixture of surprise and curiosity. "The Eggs.... would they be from me?" Savannah Yamaguchi inquired.

"If it is your desire to have a third child, then yes. But I had originally planned to use already donated eggs," Nalla admitted.

Torilla Yamaguchi slowly came over before Nalla asked that one question which she knew would turn her son into a raging berserker. "Its okay.." she commented quietly. "Gabe... Its alright.."

Gabriel regarded his mother. "You want to explain this?"

"Our people are dying Gabe... I need help to solve this.." Torilla responded.

"Gabe, she's right... she didn't tell you because she didn't want to honk you off about it." Savannah responded quietly.

Torilla regarded her son. "You're my eldest son... I need your help for this... we can save our people... this woman is a genius." she indicated Nalla. "Maybe she can help us engineer a cure..."

Gabriel raised an eyebrow. "Alright... Let's do this..."

"I promise it will be painless," Nalla spoke almost robotically. "Although, I can have a curtain brought around if you choose to have your mate's assistance in getting the semen sample, should you be unable to do so alone."

Savannah raised an eyebrow as she regarded the smaller woman. "Please do," she responded bluntly, she wanted to haul off and belt the smaller woman but only her self control prevented her from doing so, but it was clear that Nalla had offended her.

Gabriel let out a soft sigh. "Give me the container..." he responded bluntly. "I'll handle it."

Torilla Yamaguchi smiled as she tried not to laugh as she stepped back as Nalla closed the curtain.

Savannah chuckled as she thought. 'I wanna screw with her...' she thought as Gabriel regarded his wife, a smile on his face as clearly he was only too willing to indulge his wife in this.

"Are they going to copulate?" Nalla asked quietly to Torilla. "Or does it take two people to sometimes achieve a solo masterbatorial medical test?"

Torilla regarded Nalla. "Oh yes... you told my son's wife to fuck him... so she will." the larger woman shrugged. "and no... you get to stick around..."

"I am a bad critique on sample acquisition techniques," Nalla reminded Torilla. She wanted to meditate now more than ever, as she grew visibly uncomfortable.

"At least you're honest about it.... you shouldn't try to be so blunt about things Nalla. It tends to piss others off.." Yamaguchi explained to the woman who was half her size. "Come on... lets go have coffee... when we get back, they'll be finished and you can get on with your work... without further distractions." Yamaguchi turned and went to the door. "you coming?"

Nalla turned back to the curtain for only a moment, then walked with Torilla. Confusion was set in her voice.

"I do not understand how giving them scientific facts was blunt? Vulcan doctors and scientists appear to have good results with a similar delivery to their patients and subjects," Nalla pointed out as she walked with her friend.

"But not everyone does Nalla... I would have been offended had you said to me what you said to them.... you just have to tailor your information for your audience..." she smiled. "My son is half human...and his wife is fully human... and he knows fully well what his issues are.." she explained as Torilla tapped the call button for a turbolift. "We're going back to my place... you can play with the cats and I can check in with the twins."

The turbolift doors opened and in went Torilla, followed by Nalla. "Nalla. you don't need to tell them everything, also assume they don't know what's going on... and explain slowly whats going on, assume they are scared and prepare accordingly." she smiled in a motherly way. "your abilities will hinder you rather then help.... you'll be feeling everything their feeling as they will radiate it... I felt my son's fear from up on the bridge... its why I showed up."

"I do not like opening myself to their emotions because I cannot always block them out," Nalla admitted very uneasily. "Sometimes it makes my head or ears hurt."

That was an understatement. One Torilla knew for sure. But Nalla never really could articulate her Autistic-like symptoms well to others.

"I understand." Yamaguchi responded as she gently took Nalla's hand in her own. "I'm going to ask Jake to make a small, mobile version of that dampening field generator... so you can hook it into a power supply and keep it with you.... so you will be able to focus without the endless pain.."

"Did my mother teach you how to touch me?" Nalla asked out of curiosity.

"No.." Yamaguchi smiled down at the smaller woman. "I'm also a defensive telepath... Touching you feels like a series of static shocks but... its not bad..." she smiled down at her. "When I touch you... I can feel your desire not to be touched Nalla... you subconsciously push anyone away who touches you..."

There was a deep sadness in Torilla's eyes. "Now.. thats not a bad thing sweetie.."

The door opened and Yamaguchi stepped out, Nalla behind her as they arrived at their destination, Torilla tapped the door release and she entered as four sets of eyes turned to regard the two women.

Silversides blinked her eyes as she regarded her mistress. "Meow!"

Nalla bent down and immediately started to pet the kitty. "It is good to see you again, Silversides... I fear hurting someone from accidently numbing them."

The cat rubbed herself against Nalla's hand, clearly she liked the smaller woman as she meowed at her.

Yamaguchi sat down as she regarded Nalla with a warm smile as she watched the smaller woman. Nalla picked up the cat very gently. Animals were a good therapy for her. Something to touch that was soft and gentle with her.

Silversides always allowed Nalla to relax full. And Nalla even sat on the floor to rub the cat's belly. This caused rare moments of Nalla smiling naturally, which she never realized she did.

"She feels very soft and clean," Nalla spoke aloud.

The other kittens all slowly made their way over when they saw what this woman was like with their mother. Yamaguchi watched as she smiled, realizing it was an excellent idea to bring Nalla home with her.

Nalla had not expressed so much joy since she was last with her foster mother. The kittens all wanted her to pet them, and pet them Nalla did. She even began to play with them in a mock-batting motion when they play-pounced at her fingers.

Yamaguchi watched in silence, feeling a moment of pride as she realized that she had managed to do something nobody else had done, she had connected with Nalla, through her pet cats as they all seemed to love being around her. Silversides too was enjoying herself with the attention.

"I wish it was as easy to do this with sentients," Nalla finally confessed after a good ten minutes of playing with the cats. There were some minor scratches on her hands, but Nalla appeared content with her new little friends.

Yamaguchi was now sitting comfortably. "Oh tell me about it... animals tell you what they want and they aren't subtle about it." she responded. "they seem to like you."

"I do not know why," Nalla answered honestly. "But I do like them too."

That was an understatement. She enjoyed them. They allowed her to be free in ways she was usually unable to. And that meant a lot to her.

"You and your mate... That was not an arranged marriage, correct?" Nalla asked as she went back to rubbing Silversides down.

"Jake and I... No that was actually an accident of timing and place." Torilla answered as she thought back to it. "It was his mother that accepted me before anyone else did." a sigh escaped her lips. "Commander Rachael Yamaguchi, she was... a remarkable woman... our daughter, Rachael was named for her."

"Your daughter is a remarkable individual," Nalla pointed out from memory. "Doctor Dvald speaks highly of her and has said Colonel Sullivan gave her the ability to fly in the wing... I am given to understand children as young as she was, do not normally reach high honors like that unless they are gifted."

"I've always been proud of my daughter... she thinks before she acts and before she speaks... even when she became pregnant with her daughter... she didn't overreact and panic, she took her time to decide what she wanted to do and then she went an did it, she could have done it alone but she chose to come to me and her father for help."
she paused. "Rachael knew how dangerous her job was... but she wanted to protect others...I will not deny her wishes..."

"My birth mother decided to rescind my marriage arranged with House Kurtan.. A fairly prominent house that only had male heirs." Nalla grew quiet for a long moment. Inwards, she went. As if some unbearable agony had suddenly touched her on an emotional level.

When Nalla did speak again, it was almost as the coldness of a Vulcan.

"...I would have liked to one day fulfil my family's goal of maintaining the legacy, but my mother felt something was very wrong with me. Having offspring of any sort could very well destroy the Furban legacy," Nalla explained.

"Your mother.... is a foolish women who's reach exceeds her needs and her mentality." Yamaguchi responded. "that attitude is outmoded and obsolete." she sighed. "Nalla. there is nothing wrong with you. You are yourself... special in your own way, shape and form.... if anyone tells you otherwise... they do not see with their eyes... or hear with their ears.."

"I am a Furban. First Daughter of the Tenth House," Nalla countered and began rubbing her temples from a massively forming migraine. Her was also getting a little warm, so she took her duty jacket off. "I am supposed to live up to house's legacy and I..."

Nalla did not finish as her headache began to become far worse. Memories of her birth mom slapping her in the face for unintentionally insulting important dinner guests as a five year old. Being tied to a chair and subjected to horrendous stimuli from her formal behavioral modification therapist at age seven.

So many things tried and failed to stamp her oddities out of her, that Nalla felt like a failure. To her house. To her legacy. To herself, more than anything.

Yamaguchi felt this wave of pain smash into her as she dropped to her knees. "oh.." she whimpered. "Nalla...." she whispered as she heard the cats scatter away from Nalla.

Yamaguchi felt a surge of memories flood her mind, memories of.... Nalla being abused and tortured. Her eyes widened as she felt the horror, the pain, the shame and the fear of it all, the memories were rank with fear as she tried to absorb it, at some point she mentally called for her husband.

Meanwhile Jake was in the Green Dragon just finishing his lunch, when the distress call from his wife came in, he got out of his chair and ran out of the lounge. "Clear a path!" Jake yelled in his 'Admirals' voice as he went out the door and down the hall, sprinting.

He tapped the first turbolift call button he came to as he allowed himself to crash into the bulkhead, he felt a wave of pain as he picked himself up off of the deck, the door opened and in he went. "Exec's Quarters."

The turbolift sped to its destination, Jake emerged and went down the hallway, he arrived at his wife's quarters to find her in a heap on the floor as he went speedily to her side. "Torilla.. what happened."

"Nalla, had... a shock... No.. Do NOT touch her.." Yamaguchi said to her husband. "Don't touch her... She'll either make you numb for hours... or make you want to mate with me for hours.."

"Sounds exciting... come on.. let's get you up then we can tend to her.." he noticed Nalla looked slumped over but he couldn't feel anything as he gently helped his wife to her feet. "Easy Torilla....you look like you've seen a ghost.."

"Jake... if you only knew what this woman had been through... you would say... there is such a thing... as pure ... fucking... evil.." she whimpered softly. "I'm alright... I just need a moment." as she leaned against her husband, to steady herself, Jake had one arm around his wife's waist and the second he had on her right shoulder. "Easy.... I';m here."

Torilla smiled at him. "Thank you." and with that she kissed him on the lips. "Alright.."

Nalla's still form began to rock back and forth on the balls of her feet while she held her hands on her ears and closed her eyes. So many of her senses were overly active and the more of those atrocious memories she relived, the worse her senses became.

Torilla went over to Nalla, she felt her senses start to go haywire as she gently hauled Nalla to her feet. "Come on sweetie." she said softly. "Lets get you somewhere safe..." as the door opened again and in walked Ensign Elizabeth Yamaguchi, medkit in hand. "Mom!" she called. "Whats going on.?"

"Nalla is having an issue... help me with her."

"Okay.." Elizabeth gently accepted Nalla from her mother while Torilla tapped her combadge. "Yamaguchi to sickbay, Siaxx can you come down to my quarters please... I have an issue... I need a second opinion.."

"On my way Commander."

Jake turned his head. "Do you need anything from me??"

"Call Tranquility, we need to speak to Captain Olmos quick.."

"It's too loud," Nalla cried out in agony, then doubled over to vomit on the carpet from all the stress overheating her. "Too hot... too itchy," the half-Deltan noted weakly, tears streaming out of her eyes.

Torilla reached over as she picked up the small dampening field generator, before she activated it, she felt her psionic abilities go silent as she saw that Elizabeth wasn't used to this. "Easy Beth...shall we?"

Jake meanwhile had contacted the Tranquility and he was waiting for Olmos.

"Jake," Olmos smiled but instantly grew sober from feeling a lot of panicked emotion on his end. "I take it this is not an ETA update to the colony?"

"No... We have an issue with Nalla." Jake explained what he saw from his perspective. "I'm not exactly sure of what's going on, we have the lights almost completely turned off yet she's saying its too bright, too hot and too cold.... looks like a psionic break of some kind.."

Elizabeth came over. "Hello sir." she greeted her former Commanding Officer. "Yes we have a concern with Lieutenant Furban." she then began to explain the particulars of the case.

"Deltans call it a Sensual Overload," Olmos spoke quietly, as if she did not want that going beyond her ready room. "Normally only occurs when a young Deltan first develops their psionic abilities. But with Nalla's suspected neurological birth defects, her psionic abilities grew exponentially faster and stronger than other Deltans. So I normally just try to get her in a cold shower, and get her to calm down enough for me to sedate her until the overload runs its course."

Olmos grew quiet for a moment. As if she were trying to reach out telepathically to her daughter, then she looked back to Elizabeth and Jake, "With her, the attacks in her adulthood seem tied to high emotional distress, and as I don't want her mother in Nalla's business, I typically just sit with her until she's sound asleep."

Father and daughter shared a look as the door opened and in came Siaxx Dvald, medkit in hand. "Okay.. lets see.." the small Bolian commented as she went to assist Torilla. "Easy Nalla... It's okay, we're gonna help you..." as she gently ran her tricorder over the small woman's prone form.

"It burns," Nalla cried out, almost hysterical as she rubbed her eyes. Memories of Allana knocking her into a EPS conduit, which melted her eyeballs.

Torilla gently held the smaller woman in her arms. "I'm here sweetie.." as she gently rocked the smaller woman, the way she would for one of her children. "Shh.... I'm here.." she whispered.

"I'll be there in two or three days, Jake." Olmos held a lot of concern in her eyes as she tried to look over her boss' shoulder. Nalla was still rocking violently and crying. "I am sorry this situation escalated to this point, and I will find out what happened, so that we prevent a future attack."

Jake smiled. "Don't worry.... We've been through this before... only difference is... she's not my daughter... she's yours." he explained.

"I am in your debt," Olmos spoke with watery eyes, like any mother would when they had to watch their child helplessly suffer.

Meanwhile Torilla gently wiped Nalla's face. "Its okay... you're safe..." she gently held her and she turned to Siaxx. "Could you mind collecting the samples from Gabriel and Celeste... they were donating some eggs and sperm samples..for one of Nalla's projects..."

Siaxx nodded. "Okay. I can do that." she responded. "I wanna trade notes with you later though.." and with that Siaxx walked out the door.
Leaving Jake to chat with Olmos.

Jake regarded Olmos. "When you get here though... Torilla is the one you'll want to see... Not Zara."

"Fair enough," Olmos agreed, then wiped away some of her silent tears. "Right now, I'm more concerned about getting her calmed. If she gets too worked up, she could start hurting herself."

"Torilla is with her..." Jake explained with a smile. "Nalla will be alright.."

"I normally fix her some ginger tea before bed. And you could possibly try getting her teddy bear. It's a tan threadbare thing, but she loves it," Olmos added quickly as any worried mother would. "She also has a blue solar system fleece blanket that comforts her greatly."

Elizabeth nodded. "I'll go get them.." and with that the larger woman turned and departed.

"We'll keep Nalla here with us.. out of the public light, she can stay with us until this ends... she needs to feel safe... and Torilla and I can provide that.... I assume its dangerous for me to touch her... could you explain that for me please.... I wanna help my wife but... Nalla apparently does things to the uninitiated."

"She could not cope well with her PTSD as a child," Olmos spoke mournfully. "She took to a former Vulcan intern of mine, when she was younger and tried to emulate him and his people... And grew even further to love their ways the more I tried to get her to stop. So now she's got little control over her Deltan abilities simply from turning her pain and other emotions inward."

"Which explains a great many things.." Jake responded. "Nalla and Torilla seem to have bonded quite well.." he added as the door opened and in came Elizabeth, with the items requested.

Torilla smiled as she gently accepted the blanket off of Elizabeth as she wrapped it around Nalla. "Here you go sweetie." she said with a smile, before she gently placed Nalla's large teddybear into her hands. "Its gonna be alright... we're all here..." as she gently picked Nalla up and went into the guest bedroom as she gently put Nalla to bed.

She gently wrapped Nalla up with the main blanket and then she draped her solar system blanket over it. "Its gonna be okay sweetie. nobody will harm you.... not so long as I draw breath.." she whispered as she gently slipped the teddy bear in with Nalla. "Sleep sweetie... we'll be right outside... and nobody can come in here.."

"Why did she hurt me?" Nalla finally voiced in a choked-up tone. Like a frightened child would.

Yamaguchi stopped, almost frozen to the spot before she turned around. "I wish I knew sweetie." as she gently ran her fingers over Nalla's smooth head. "But it's gonna be okay... she can't get to you... she gotta go through me first."

"She almost beat me to death on Starbase 12," Nalla spoke with both pain and confusion in her quiet voice. "...She said I was selfish. That I only ever try to make her look bad."

"Your mother did horrible things... I saw your memories.." Torilla admitted. "All she did to you..." a sigh escaped her lips. "What she did to you was beyond cruel, beyond heartless... but as long as I'm here... nobody will ever harm you ever again.." she whispered.

"I want her to love me," Nalla sniffed into her bear with tears streaming down her face. "But I also want Olmos to be my mom. And I feel bad because... because I love both of them and want both their love."

Nalla let out an agonised groan from her headache, in that moment.

Torilla made herself comfortable. "Sleep sweetie.." she said quietly. "I will still be here.."
