Meet and Greet

Mission: Mission 32: Tales of Tarod
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1200Hrs - April 11th, 2391

Lieutenant JG Gabriel Yamaguchi and his wife, Lieutenant JG Savannah Yamaguchi were enjoying a nice causal dinner in the Green Dragon as both of them kept watch. "You expect trouble?"

Gabriel nodded. "Considering both Elizabeth and Rachael hate this place... and they've both at length as to why... I can't say I blame them.."

Savannah regarded her husband. "True... you know I like a good fight as much as the next girl... but I am... kinda busy at present." she pointed downwards.

"I know.." Gabriel responded as the doors opened and in came his sister along with another officer, one he didn't know.

Rachael smiled. "Gabe, Sav... guys this is Meslina Amakawa."

Both Savannah and Gabriel both rose to their feet. "Lieutenant."

"At ease you two, here in the Green Dragon, hell even on this ship we are not so uptight about rank." Meslina said as the two of them glanced at her then went back to being a little more relax or as relaxed as you could get on this ship.

"Meslina, This is my brother Gabriel and his wife, Savannah Yamaguchi." Rachael did the introductions. "This area looks safe... mind if we join you.?"

"Rachael... you were always so polite... Have a seat... the chairs were for more then just decoration... join us.." Gabriel responded. "So... Meslina, what do you do on this ship....?" he inquired

"Well at present not a whole lot, I've had some personal issues come up so I have asked the Captain to temporal relief me of my post which at the time was Chief Operations," Meslina answered honestly, she felt no need to hide anything from them since they were family of one of her closest and dearest friend's.

"So now you're back here.?" Savannah was clearly looking pregnant as she inquired. "Mom always talks about this Meslina Amakawa person.. finally we get to meet the legend."

Meslina had to laugh at that, "I'm hardly a legend my dear. I just happened to stumble my way into the life's of your family and now I've been accepted as one of the family." Meslina flagged down a waitress and placed an order before turning back, "no offense but why are you two here on this ride from hell? With a child on the way no less?"

Gabriel indicated the seat across from him. "Have a seat... Rachael. You too.." he commented with a smile. "We're here because we're on leave and we wanted to see family for awhile... We don't get to see them often enough and who knew when we'd have another chance?" he inquired.

Meslina had to nod at that, "yeah I can understand that and family is very important to you guys as I've noticed with the way things are with Torilla and the rest of your kin. Though I've had a bond with my own family it's been a long time since they pasted that I haven't gave it much thought." Meslina took her order and started to pick at it a little before she turned to Savannah "so when are you due?"

Savannah smiled. "I'm due in about four months time..." she explained. "The Medical side of things was a blasted nightmare though..."

Laughing Meslina couldn't really think of anything to say to that since she herself haven't had the experience. "So yeah I've heard some stories, all good, about you guys as well and I can see you are all a very tight nit group. As long as no one pisses you guys off that is. Do you know if it will be a boy or a girl?"

The husband and wife shared a look. "Well... we prefer to be surprised..." as Rachael regarded her brother with a knowing look but she didn't say it.

Meslina didn't catch the gaze that was given from Racheal but she could tell that they were not going to be surprised by it from the tone of their voice, "I see," was all she said. "Well I will pray for a healthy young one for you both and that your days will be filled with joy regardless." She said with honesty. Turning back to Racheal she grinned a little, "I can see why you get a long with everyone in your family now, they are all loving people."

"We're all very close... Plus we keep things between us simple and as uncomplicated as possible."

Looking at all of them at the table she smiled a little, "yeah I can see that, it must be nice."

Savannah regarded the smaller woman as a couple of things came together in her mind. "You don't get along with your own family?"

Rachael sighed softly as she winced, Savannah noticed as she paused. "Oh..."

Meslina's hands slightly tightened around the fork, "it's not that I don't get along with them, I just don't have a family. They were killed by bandits while they were away on a mission, but this is really not the best place or time to talk about this. Maybe some other time." She said kind of standing up and getting ready to leave, "I'm sorry but I need to be alone for now but it was still a pleasure to meet you both."

Savannah paused. "I'm... I'm Sorry.."

Gabriel who had sat silently through the entire exchange. "Must you go?" he inquired.

Meslina just looked down, "yes I'm sorry but that's a subject that kind of upsets me I just need to unwind a little, we can talk about it later."

Gabriel nodded his head slowly. "Alright..."

Rachael regarded Meslina. "You okay?"

Meslina shook her head, "I'm sorry really but I just need to think and be left alone. When I feel ready I'll talk about it but you already know about the story." She turned and looked at the door then back at her friend, "listen this is not how I wanted it to turn out but thanks for the thought anyways."

Rachael nodded in silence.

Savannah Yamaguchi watched in silence, sadness filling her large eyes as her husband gently took her hand in his. "Its okay, you didn't know..."
