Saki was lying on the sofa as she couldn't sleep in the guest bedroom, so now she was dozing lightly on the sofa, when she felt and heard a soft animal hop up onto the sofa as she heard a soft purring sound.

Saki blinked her eyes open. "Kitty?"

There was a soft meowing sound as Shonax came over to curl up next to the child's face. "Meow." as he made himself comfortable.

Saki laughed, his whiskers tickled the side of her face.

"What's up Saki?" Phoenix as she came out of the master bedroom in her blue bathrobe.

Saki blinked. "I can't sleep... and kitty seems unable to as well."

Siaxx poked her head out of the bedroom. "Whats going on?" the small Bolian asked.

"Saki can' sleep," Phoenix informed her betrothed.

"Oh... Saki's hanging out with the cat.." she paused. "Ok..."

"Wanna talk 'bout it Saki?" Phoenix asked with concern as she sat on the sofa with them. Dora was right behind Phoenix, only the pup made herself comfortable in the floor.

"Its too quiet..." Saki admitted. "I'm still used to hearing air and wind, water tricking over rock and stone.... I hear nothing.." the small child explained. "I'm hungry..." she added, almost as a quiet afterthought.

"Whatcha wanna eat?" Phoenix asked with a huge grin, then hugged the girl as if to protect her.

"I'm always eating salad and fruits..." she paused. "What is there around here thats sweet?"

"Anythin' ya want," Phoenix offered with a smile. "You wanna eat icecream?"

"No.." Saki responded. "What else is there?"

"Chocolate... That comes in bars, cases, syrups. Just 'bout anythin' you can think of," Phoenix answered with a huge grin.

Saki regarded the other woman with a soft grin as Shonax jumped into her arms. "Oh... hey kitty." she commented before she paused. "What sort of deserts are there.... can I see some?" she inquired.

"I can replicate some, but I don' want ta waste rations on things ya may not eat," Phoenix offered as she hugged the girl.

"Well...." Saki paused. "What about pictures of deserts... rather than outright replicate them, I can at least see them..." the eight year old sounded pleased with herself.

"All right," Phoenix answered, stood up, and went to her computer to download material into a PADD. After several minutes, she returned to the couch and handed Saki the PADD. "Let me know what ya want."

Saki smiled as she began leafing through the pictures, her eyes growing big as she marveled at them. "Oh wow... and these are all food, ready to be eaten?" she inquired as she found herself looking at a massive chocolate cake. "Torilla's Fudge Explosion..." she read the name aloud. "Torilla....as in Grandma Torilla?" she paused. "can I eat that?"

"I think that particular sweet should be somethin' you ask your gran ta
make you," Phoenix suggested. "Grandparents like doin' or buyin' special things for their grandkids."

Shonax came over as he climbed into Saki's lap, then he made himself comfortable as the small child began petting the large cat. "Oh hey kitty." Saki commented. "Are you always so demanding?"

The cat deigned not to answer, as he resumed his purring as Saki sighed. "I'll ask grandma Torilla to make it then... see what she says..." she resumed leafing through the pictures. "Lets see...."

"Betazed chocolate puddin' is actually really good. But rich," Phoenix suggested as she went through the list with Saki.

Saki regarded Phoenix. "Can I try some?" she inquired, a smile on her face.

"Sure," Phoenix agreed and stood up, walked over to the replicator and pulled a big bowl of Betazed chocolate pudding with whipped cream and Oreo cookie bits on top.

"Here you go," Phoenix offered and handed the bowl and spoon with Saki.

Saki accepted the bowl as she took a spoonful of the desert and ate it, her eyes opened wide. "Ohh... wow.." she then licked the spoon clean. "Mmm.." as she proceeded to clean out the entire bowl.

"Don' eat it too fast. You'll get air in your tummy," Phoenix cautioned in a motherly manner.

Saki regarded the other woman, her eyes showing the effects of far too much sugar all at once. "Whats... happening!" she paused as she watched her hands start to shake, she was going through the effects of a major sugar rush.

"You ate too much sugar," Phoenix spoke with a facepalm, for she understood this would not bode well.

Saki's eyes grew wide. "Oh...." she paused as she looked around.

"Here..." Phoenix laid on her side on the couch and pulled Saki into her. "Let's just relax. I'll keep watch while you sleep. Alright?"

Saki blinked. "How..." she paused. "I feel like I could run for hours.." the child responded.

"Tell me 'bout your day," Phoenix smiled as she pushed some hair from Saki's face.

Saki paused before she launched into an explanation of how school was foreign to her and then her classmates and what she liked and hated, the words came out as one super long run-on sentence.

Siaxx poked her head out of the bedroom as she listened and watched. "Ummm Jill.. what did you feed her?"

"Chocolate," Phoenix admitted sheepishly. Then she asked Saki, "Does your mom know you don' like school?"

"She does.." Saki explained. "I was.... blunt about it."

"Folks didn' like me much either, when I got posted on ships... bit of a wild one," Phoenix admitted with a huge grin. "People always fear what's different."

"fear is an illusion, masking their own idiocy." Saki then went back to school as she went on a verbal rampage about who she hated and why she hated them.

Phoenix hugged Saki and attempted to calm both of them down for a nap on the couch. "It'll be alright. Ya got your mom an' me, an' Siaxx, an' your gran and gramp too."

Saki continued with her long ramble of words as she went through the sugar until a few minutes later, she finally crashed, she was out cold about ninety seconds later.

Phoenix kissed the sleeping child's forehead before she too settled in for the night. Neither of them slept well in the quiet, so she wrapped her arms around Saki in such a way as so make her feel safe.
