We Are Going To Be Here a While

Mission: Mission 27: Into the Jungle
Location: Various Locations - Yeneer G8
Timeline: 1030Hrs - February 20th, 2391 - Time Dilation: Planet Day 2

Teval looked at what rations they had. They had at most, a weeks worth of food. Hakaya came over saying," Well, I guess we better learn to hunt for our food."

Teval nodded," Yep, So uh, are you any good at that."

Hakaya shook her head," I was hoping you would know."

Teval looked at Aerin and karryn, prompting Aerin to say," Haven't done it in over a century." Karryn just shook her head.

Rachael meanwhile was nearby with a dozen empty containers as she filled them with water from the nearby river. Upon returning to camp she passed by the four Kurokuri. "Hey guys.... hows it going?" she inquired as she slowly placed the various filled containers at her feet. "We can always boil these or just drink them straight.."

Aerin walked over and looked at the water," Well, for you, given that your pregnant, I'd recommend that you boil it first, but for the rest of us, it shouldn't be an issue."

He then looked at Teval and Hakaya saying," Also, for us Kurokuri, our immune systems can handle eating raw meat, to doesn't absolutely have to be cooked for us, though it is still a better idea to do so, but if we have to we can handle it."

Teval and Hakaya both nodded, when the kittens began to fuss. Karryn went over to them to see the issue and quickly determined the problem.

"What is it," Teval asked.

Karryn shook her head," Its just feeding time, that's all."

Karryn due to the fact that her nipples, where located on her stomach, as was the case for all kurokuri, whom normally had four, she had to lay down on a blanket with the three kittens and let them suckle.

Rachael nodded, clearly used to seeing Kurokuri feed their children like this. "Alright... I'll start boiling these... is there any meat that needs to be cooked at the same time?" the teen inquired.

Teval shook his head, no one had been out hunting yet.

"Alright.." Rachael reached down as she picked up her containers filled with water as she went over to the firepit that Siaxx was making. "All ready?"

"Yeah... just about... you gonna boil all that?"

"Yep.." the teen answered. "Teval... do we have any other containers?" the teen inquired as Siaxx finished placing the stones that she had hewn from solid rock, draining a phaser power cell in the process.

"Two more," Teval answered from inside the runabout," Not to big though."

Rachael nodded. "Alright... I'll take them both, fill 'em and boil 'em..." she sighed. "Its not like I'll ever get off this miserable rock.." she muttered to herself.

Teval grabbed his rifle and his focus blade, and walked out of the runabout with Hakaya and Aerin following him, Hakaya carrying her own rifle, while Aerin simply had his sword. Aerin handed the containers to Rachael, while Teval said, "Well, I think its best to hold on to our ration supplies until we really need them, so we're going hunting."

He then looked at Saki, saying," Think you can help us with foraging."

Saki Kishimoto nodded her head. "Yes. I will assist..."

Teval nodded and the four of them went into the woods to search for food.

Saki followed in silence as she looked around, keeping her eyes open for trouble, before she drew her knife, all her senses coming alive.

The group wandered for about an hour uneventfully, proceeding rather slowly, sampling various fruits that they found along the way, not really encountering any wildlife aside from the occasional squirrel like creature or some birds. From the way that the leaves on the tree's where starting to brown, and with the general feel of the forest, Teval guessed the planet was in the beginning of an Autumn cycle. However He couldn't be certain, as he wasn't aware of the planets cycle. The tree canopy was pretty thick but he could still occasionally see the large gas giant planet in the sky, and its massive set of rings.

Saki looked around. "This is still a lovely place.." she commented softly. "but... I think we're being watched.." she slowly turned her head. "come out... whatever you are.." she added softly.

Teval's ear's picked up the sound of something large moving behind him, he quietly turned the safety off on his weapon, with Hakaya doing the same. Aerin unsheathed his sword ever so slightly.

Suddenly, a massive bird like creature exploded out of some thick tall brush and charged at the group with wicked speed. Both Teval and Hakaya opened fire, each of them firing several rounds into the animal. However it didn't stop the bird as it knocked Saki aside and took a swipe at Hakaya, knocking her rifle clear away from her, its claws catching her in the stomach and arm. It struck Teval in the side with a kick, sending him flying into a tree, when Aerin attacked with his blade. Aiming for the neck, he swiftly beheaded the bird in one swing. The now headless body flailed about briefly before, falling over on Teval.

Saki went flying through the air before landing in a pile of dirt some distance away, a soft growl escaping her lips as she picked herself up before picking her way back to the group. "Is everyone alright..?" she asked. "Who's hurt..."

Aerin looked around for Teval when he heard a muffled voice from under the dead bird," Get, this thing, off me."

It was then Aerin noticed where Teval was, and looked at Saki, saying, "Hey, help me with this real quick."

Saki came over before she reached down and peeled the dead bird off of Teval. "Okay..." as she regarded the beast. "Must weigh a few hundred pounds at least..." she sighed. "how we gonna get this back to camp?"

Teval was about to answer as he got up, but then he noticed his sibling was in trouble. She sat near a tree, her arm covering the fact that she was bleeding profusely from her lower stomach. Teval rushed over to Hakaya, finding that her injury ran deep. She didn't protest as Teval moved her arm to look at the injury. The gash across her stomach ran deep enough that her intestines where visible.

Saki visibly paled when she did a quick evaluation with the wound as she tapped her combadge, immensely thankful that they had a working com system. "Siaxx, this is Saki... head to the Runabout and prep.. I have a class one medical emergency coming to you."

The response was somewhat scratchy but readable. "Understood. heading there now... I got Rachael with me..." came the Bolian's voice.

Saki opened her medkit as she proceeded to try and stem the bleeding. "She needs exactly what we don't have.." she muttered aloud. "I need you to keep her calm and focus her attention..." her tone was no nonsense as she ran her tricorder over the wound. "Siaxx?" she asked aloud

"Yeah... we're in the Runabout now and getting set up... Rachael is manning the transporter....we're ready."

"Right... beam me and Hakaya first... then Teval and Aerin second." Saki responded. "Energize."

Teval stayed as close to Hakaya as he could, holding her hand, and she had a very tight grip on his. Aerin simply kept his distance as Siaxx rushed over to Hakaya.

Siaxx was prepared and ready, she opened her medkit and went to work as Saki turned to Rachael. "Scan the area where we just were... you'll find a dead predator... please see if you can beam it to our base camp.."

Rachael nodded as she went to work, Saki turned and went to assist Siaxx.

Hakaya began to get very tense with pain, and Teval could tell she was starting to go into shock. Teval didn't even notice her claws began to dig into his hand.

Karryn meanwhile went over to help Rachael.

Siaxx saw Hakaya going into shock, she muttered something in a foreign language as she tried to stabilize the Kurokuri. Saki was assisting as sweat beads began appearing on her face. "Shit."

"I see it.."

"You don't wanna know..." Siaxx said evenly as she turned to Rachael. "Cordical Stimulatior's..." as the equipment all started emitting a long winded even tone, indicating that Hakaya's heart had stopped.

"Here we go!" Siaxx commented, nonchalantly as she proceeded to resuscitate Hakaya's heart, she used the paddles twice before Hakaya's heart restarted. "Right... we're getting somewhere.." as she turned to Saki. "Stabilize her..." she commented "Rachael did you beam back that dead animal?"

"yeah.."

"Okay good... help me sort out her intestinal tract. I need to resect the bowel... I'm seeing a few holes in here."

Rachael came over as Siaxx directed her. "Here.. hold this and plug the holes as you see them... "

Aerin, seeing that Teval wasn't helping with the situation, grabbed him by the arm and pulled him out of the runabout.

Siaxx made a small mental note to thank Aerin later as she worked on Hakaya, Rachael worked in silence beside her.

Saki meanwhile looked and she saw that the other two had things in hand so she went over to monitor Hakaya's life-signs from the nearby console.

A short time later, Rachael sighed. "I'm finished patching the holes in her G.I. tract." she reported.

"Alright... She looks good on the inside... lets see if we can close her up." Siaxx responded as she proceeded to start that operation.
