Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 1000Hrs - July 18th, 2393

Lt Colonel Tienn Nerra slowly moved into the starbase med center as she could feel what she would have called a soft grinding sensation, it meant that her child was ready to be born, but she was Bajoran and the same issues that tended to affect other women from other species also tended to affect her whether she liked it or not and in this case, she did not. Tienn had been in the shower last night when her water broke, her early labor started at that point and she had slept for about seven hours, which for her was a more or less normal night. K'Taro understood as Tienn wasn't about to rush to the Medcenter just yet, she had made that mistake with Edal and she was nowhere near ready to have her child.

Now, this morning, the pain was much more apparent but it was still manageable as she had checked herself over with a tricorder. K'taro had mentioned maybe heading to the Medcenter but she had still refused, citing she was not yet ready to deliver her child. The tow of them then took their children to daycare and Balin went off to school, concerned about her as Tienn had reassured everyone that she would be fine.

K'taro had gone off to work, unreassured that his mate would be alright but she had gently kissed him on the lips and said that she would call him when the little one was due as it was his place to name their son as she had already named their daughter who was growing up fast, in fact as she was part Bajoran and part Klingon, she was growing up very fast as Klingon children tended to mature very quickly, about twice as normal for humans and about two and a half times normal for Bajorans so for Tienn, raising a half Klingon child was a truly new experience for her.

Tienn went over to the nurse behind the main desk as she waited for the young man to address her.

The Petty third class nodded to her. "Good morning ma'am. What can I do for you?" he inquired of her.

"I'd like to check in for my appointment at the top of the hour," Tienn explained evenly.

The Petty Third class nodded his head as he checked the display before him. "Okay, you're Colonel Tienn Nerra?"

"Yeah, that's me." the pregnant Bajoran female smiled as she regarded the help with a rather lusty smile.

"Excellent. Let me page the doctor for you." as he tapped the display several times, the notes indicated that the on-duty medical officer was to be paged to come to collect the heavily pregnant Bajoran female as soon as Tienn arrived.

The doors nearby parted as a Doctor emerged, she was wearing a light blue medical jacket, she slowly smiled as she looked around, she then began moving forward to the desk. "Hello, Colonel." she nodded. "I greet you, I am T'Arla."

Tienn nodded. "Good morning Doctor. It's good to meet you."

"Everything is ready for you. Are you having troubles?" the Vulcan inquired.

"The pain is manageable but it's a moderate distraction. I am still able to walk."

The Vulcan female regarded her in silence for a moment. "Let me check you over, to be sure," she commented after a moment. She plucked her tricorder from off of her belt, she did a quick check of the Bajoran female before her. "You are sure you are able to walk?

Tienn nodded her head. "How far along am I?"

"You are almost ready." she turned to the person behind the desk. "Thank you, Nurse. I will take the Colonel in hand." she turned back to Tienn. "Shall we go attend to matters?" she inquired.

"Yes Doctor, let's proceed," Tienn paused. "Also, you should call my mate, his name is K'taro. He should be present for the birth of his son." Tienn answered.

"Very good." T'Arla nodded her head. "Most logical," before the delicate looking Vulcan female gently tapped her combadge. "T'Arla to K'taro.?" she inquired. "Your mate is in the hospital complex, and is preparing to have her child now, she requested I contact you to inform you of the situation."

"On my way," K'taro replied as he hurried down the passageway.

Tienn nodded. "Thank you, Doctor." as the Vulcan female nodded in response. "You are welcome Tienn." before the Bajoran followed the Vulcan female back into the hospital, had the Bajoran even hesitated in saying anything. T'Arla would have had a wheelchair brought for her. Moments later, the two were in one of the birthing rooms as Tienn was having a medic help her change into a maternity gown so she could simply take a seat and prepare for the birth of her child. T'Arla was looking the medical records of the Bajoran female she was dealing with today as a gentle smile graced her lips, she had three children of her own and she knew what went into it and what came out of it.

Tienn smiled as she gently took a seat in the chair before she got comfortable, she closed her eyes as she began to try to meditate, she breathed in and then she breathed out as she focused on her breathing while she fought to remain calm. T'Arla ran her tricorder over her frame. "You are doing well Tienn," she commented.

Tienn slowly nodded her head as she slowly breathed in and out, but she didn't say anything.

T'Arla noded to the nurse. "She is fully dilated Doctor." Kadian Paris explained with a smile, while she was a scientist, she was also a fully trained medical officer as well.

"Excellent." the Vulcan responded as she nodded. "Tienn, you are ready."

"Understood." the Bajoran female responded quietly as she began to focus on relaxing, she needed to be relaxed otherwise she would not deliver her child. She focused on her breathing as the Bajoran slowly began to pass out, this was normal for the Bajorans but for everyone else that T'Arla had ever dealt with, she would be rushing them into surgery as an impending medical issue would force her hands. Bajorans, however, were different and this was obvious to anyone who worked with them in the childcare area.

K'taro entered and looked around with a bit of anxiousness. As he spotted Tienn he smiled. He said nothing as he came behind the delivery team.

Kadian Paris checked the mother-to-be as she smiled. "She's asleep Doctor."

This news cheered T'Arla considerably. "Excellent. Let's proceed," she commented evenly. "Is all ready?" the Vulcan female inquired.

"All of my equipment and I am ready Doctor," Paris answered.

"Very well," T'Arla responded. "Tienn's blood pressure is one twenty over eighty, roughly normal for one of her species," she added.

Paris nodded. "She's crowning Doctor." as she did a medical scan of the infant who was rapidly emerging from his mother. Paris smiled as she gently received him, she quickly wrapped him up in a blanket as she severed the infant from his mother. "The infant is now a separate being."

"Excellent. How is Tienn?"

"She's in good shape, still asleep," Paris reported.

"I know I would be unable to sleep while having a baby so I guess there are such things as forgivable behaviors, like a sleeping Bajoran mother who's delivering a child." the Vulcan joked.

Paris smiled as she chuckled softly. "I guess so Doctor." but what neither of the two women knew was that they were supposed to contact K'taro to come and name his son. "What do you suppose the name of her child will be?"

"I do not know." The Vulcan answered evenly. "How is the child?"

"My son will be named soon," K'taro answered evenly.

"He's in good shape," Paris explained with a smile as she gently held the infant with her left hand and arm while she did a quick scan with the tricorder in her right hand. "He's none the worse for wear. But I will admit, I'd like to have a look at his DNA, I've never encountered a Klingon / Bajoran before but I'll ask his mother before I do anything," she explained as she gently placed her tricorder back onto her belt before she sat down before she gently held the infant in her arms. "Let her sleep... I will remain and watch mother and child while Tienn sleeps."

"She will wake soon," T'Arla explained.

"I know. I will wait." Paris nodded as she settled in to wait before she gently set the infant down in his small bassinet.

The Vulcan female picked up a PADD as she regarded the younger female. "Would you like to handle the paperwork?"

"I'll take care of it," Paris answered as the Vulcan handed her the PADD, Paris went to work as she settled in to watch over the sleeping Bajoran female with her infant while the Vulcan departed, leaving the younger medical officer alone with the Klingon before she suddenly noticed him. "Oh, hey Commander. I apologize, are you her mate?" Paris inquired of K'taro.

"Yes, I am both her mate and the child's father." K'taro proudly replied.

"Nice," Paris responded. "Your son is doing very well, he is strong and is in excellent health." the younger female explained. "Do you have a name for him yet or will you wait on it for Tienn to awaken?" she inquired.

"The boy must go through our ritual naming ceremony. Then, once he knows that he is a Klingon and a warrior, will he be named." K'taro warmly told Paris.

"Fair enough sir." Paris paused. "Do you want me to leave you with your spouse and child in peace?" she asked.

"Yes, that would be good. Thank you." K'taro replied.

Paris smiled as the younger woman rose to her feet. "Enjoy this time sir. It'll never come again." and with that, she took her leave. Leaving K'taro alone with his sleeping spouse and their child.
