The Restless Memories of the Past - Part Two
Posted on Tue Mar 17th, 2020 @ 10:29am by Fleet Captain Racheal Yamaguchi & Ambassador Lu'Pal
Mission:
Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Planet Surface - Anvil Colony / Admirals Office - Starbase 16
Timeline: 1530Hrs - June 15th, 2393
Rear Admiral Darren Truscott regarded the Vulcan woman on the display before him. "Admiral, she stuck in her request for a carrier and I do not believe that she will change her mind considering she does not wish anyone showing her any favor," Truscott explained.
"Her position is illogical." Admiral Lu'Pal answered evenly. "She should be making use of her position with the Free-Borg to assist us with dealing with them," she added.
"I did mention that to her. The Commander shot me down as soon as I said it. She's simply not interested in being a diplomat or an Ambassador. Admiral, its time to face facts, it's not going to happen where Yamaguchi is concerned."
"She should be thinking of the greater good." the Vulcan female explained.
Truscott decided that something different was required here. "Admiral. Allow me to comment on the illogic of waste, she simply does not wish to assist us with this matter, I recommend we let this one go and give Rachael Yamaguchi what she wants. She does not have to do a damned thing she does not wish to do and forcing her to help with the matter will only cause more harm than good. She wishes to earn her place and status, rather than have it given to her as a reward for being a good little Borg." There was something snide in Truscott's tone of voice.
"You are insolent." the Vulcan woman snapped at him.
"You are illogical." Truscott snapped back at her. He knew that Lu'Pal had a narrower approach to her work than many Vulcans considered normal for one of their species but also picking a fight with her was also deeply unwise. "Admiral, she said she does not wish the rank of Admiral and that's more or less that, I recommend we let this one go."
"She is the equivalent of a faction leader, didn't you make that clear to her?" Lu'Pal responded.
"I did. She still refused me." Truscott explained evenly. "The best I could get was that she would consider accepting as Captain's rank and command of a ship of the line, and that was still a challenge, otherwise she'd be happy to go back out into the field with the rank of Commander and call it a day," Truscott added.
Lu'Pal regarded him, almost as a predator would regard its prey, right before it kills the small helpless animal. "Maybe I need to speak with her then."
"I wouldn't be saying this if I thought she could be convinced otherwise, Admiral. We're wasting time with her, she doesn't want it so let's just give her what she wants and move on." Truscott answered. "Face facts Admiral, she doesn't want an Admirals assignment or an Ambassadorial assignment." he then shrugged. "I suggest we let her have a command as she is requesting and carry on. She's not going to accept the posting as leader of the Free Borg or anything else regarding to the diplomatic corps, she's not a diplomat and she doesn't wish to become one either."
"That is unfortunate," Lu'Pal answered before the Vulcan female sighed softly. "We needed her to see the benefits to us all, of maintaining her position within this alliance."
Truscott nodded his head. "I agree with you, Admiral but she rejected it the second I mentioned it," he answered. "She wants back into the fleet and I doubt she will consider anything else."
"I see," Lu'Pal answered. "A shame but aww well, what's done is done I guess." she shrugged. "Do you have an assignment for her?"
"I do," Truscott responded. "I'm going to send her to Starbase Vanguard to fill out their defense squadron. They are critically short of experienced commanders and Rachael will do well there," he explained.
"Alright then I'll find someone else who can do the same job she could," Lu'Pal answered with an air of finality.
Truscott regarded Lu'Pal in silence for a moment, he was sure of his feelings on the Vulcan woman before him now, he did not like her whatsoever as he found her too heartless and too rigid on various things. "I will inform Rachael of the assignment I have for her and if she accepts then she will be on her way soon. If not then aww well, I'll find something else for her."
"Very well. Keep me informed. Lu'Pal out." and with that, the screen went black as the transmission ended.
Truscott found himself not liking what was happening in the slightest.
