Meslina had finished with her unpacking and was on her way down to sickbay, the corridors were fairly empty. Thinking about the visit with Commander Torilla and Rachael was kind of nice and being able to help decorate the tree in their quarters was kind of a nice way to feel at home. Though as Meslina was unpacking she made up her mind that she wouldn't decorate her room this year either, it was just something that would get in her way if there is an emergency.
Just as she had come around the corner leading to sickbay Rachael had come running out of sickbay with a slightly horrified look on her face. Meslina had just enough time to react and catch the girl while bracing herself with her back leg as the girl almost bowled her over. "Whoa, slow down Rachael. What's going on?" Meslina asked her trying to calm her down at the same time.
Rachael felt numb, 'How could this have happened!' the teenager thought to herself, she didn't even known where she was going as she felt herself crash into someone else. "Uhhh.. lemme go.." Rachael complained as she suddenly realizing that she was looking at Meslina. "I uhhh...I..." she paused as she fought to control herself, clearly something was terribly wrong.
Meslina didn't let go but tightened her grip on the struggling youth, which proved to be slightly difficult she found out. "Okay take a deep breath and calm down, tell me what's going on is everything okay? Did something happen with Torilla?" She asked as she watched the girl trying to calm herself down. "If you need someone to talk to you know I will always be here to lend a ear." Once the girl had calmed down enough she loosened her grip and instead gave the girl a hug pulling her close to her and rubbing her hair slightly like her mother used to do whenever she was upset about something.
Rachael found herself being pulled into a hug. "I'm...." she paused. "I.." she sighed softly as she closed her eyes, she had no idea.
Meslina just held her there and smiled a little, "okay like I said last night, we need to spar again and if you win you don't need to talk to me, if I win then you will tell me what's going on." Looking up at Rachael she could tell that whatever was bothering her was really starting to eat at her slowly. "But on that note you need to tell me if there is something wrong with Torilla because believe it or not I am worried about her even though I haven't known her for a long time I would like to consider her a friend as well as the rest of her family you included."
"Its not Mom's problem... its my own." Rachael managed, how sh was able to string that many words together considering the news she had gotten was saying something. "Fight?, you wanna fight me... what.. now?"
"No not now Rachael. I'm here to report of my medical check-up. But after I get down here we can go to the holo-deck. Also thank you for letting me know that nothing is wrong with Torilla, you gave me a start." Meslina said touching her chest a little bit.
"I'm Sorry... No Mom is fine... I'm the one with the... problem.." the teenager paused. "I have the same problem as mom... if you take my meaning.." the teenager looked on the verge of either melting down or bursting into tears.
"Wait, what do you mean... Are you trying to say that you are pregnant?" Meslina asked her with a slight shock in finding out that this young girl before her is pregnant.
Rachael's sense of control finally fell apart, she nodded her head yes right before she burst into tears. "We were so careful....how could I have been so blind...?"
"I...wow. Does your mother know? I mean this is really something that needs to be brought to her attention. I really don't know what to say other than, what happened? I mean I know how it happened but aren't you still a little young to be have a kid."
Rachael had tears streaming down her face. "I... only...just found out myself..." she paused. "I have no idea how to tell her.... what would she think...?" she got out, in between her tears and sobs which shook her whole body.
"Considering it's your mother she might just accept it the way things are but since she is pregnant too she might be a little upset, I really don't know hun to tell the truth, but none the less I know she will still love you. I know I would." Meslina says to try to comfort the youth.
Rachael nodded. "Alright.." she paused. "Computer locate Commander Yamaguchi?"
The answer was quick. "Commander Yamaguchi is in her quarters." the computer intoned. "Alright.." and with that Rachael turned and started walking.
"If you want I can come with you to help it along, and we can tell her later after you've calmed down a little more." She says going towards the lift with her.
"No... but she needs to know.." A few minutes later she reached her destination, she opened the door with a touch of a button as she and Meslina entered, the older woman who was the same height and size following as Torilla who had changed out of her uniform and was now wearing a simple dress was making dinner. "Mom." Rachael commented, still looking like hell.
"Greetings Commander, we have some news for you but you might want to brace yourself." Meslina simply stated while coming in.
Torilla looked at her daughter and she looked at Meslina. She also knew instantly something was wrong. "Whats wrong sweetie?"
"I have some news I must share..." Rachael paused. "I'm..." she paused "Ummm."
Torilla knew that from her daughters tone that something was very seriously wrong so she went over to her as she gently placed her hands on her shoulders, "Easy... take a deep breathe..." she paused. "another..." she smiled gently. "Now.. whats wrong?" she smiled gently at her daughter, she had a good idea as to the issue at hand but she wished for Rachael to explain.
"I'm pregnant mom.." Rachael said in a small voice. "I was so careful.."
Torilla stood in muted shock as her eyebrows shot skyward and her jaw dropped. "Rachael... I'm sorry..." Torilla said right before pulling her daughter into her embrace. "Come here..."
Watching Torilla embrace Rachael and seeing that she was indeed not as upset as Rachael would have feared Meslina let out a slight sigh. "See kiddo I told you that you would be okay." Meslina softly mouthed a 'Thank you' to Torilla as she stood there.
Rachael looked up at her mom. "I'm sorry..." she was clearly assuming the worst.
"For what sweetie?" Torilla inquired. "For being pregnant?.. It happens Rachael... and when you're little one comes due, your Dad and I will be there for you, same as we always have been..." she commented with a smile.
Rachael stood there, speechless as this was not what she had been expecting.
"That's good that you have such a kind mother," she said as she came over and gave the girl a hug as well.
Torilla regarded the woman who was the size of her youngest. "So.. other then seeing my daughter home... what else is new with you Meslina?"
"I am needed down in sickbay in order to report for my check up, if there is nothing else that you need from me?" Meslina said while looking at the time piece on the wall, "well I'm already late and I'm sure the doctor will not be pleased about that, they never are."
"Fair enough." Torilla commented as she gently held her daughter in her arms. "It'll be okay Rachael... we'll make it work.."
