Mission: Mission 15: Old Ghosts
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 0800Hrs - December 4th, 2390

Once her meeting with the XO ended, Captain Tane found that writing the condolences letters were far quicker to do via a form. Thus she had began to move quickly through the list of deceased officers needing letters sent to their families.

Sometimes during her second brand sifter glass, she heard the chime of her office go off.

"Open," Tane called and her brown eyes looked up at the door, to see who had come in.

A tall half Klingon female marine entered walking in a somewhat formal manner. She stopped and saluted Captain Tane. "Marine Captain Daisy Rohr reporting for duty Sir." She stated while still holding the salute.

"Call me Tane," Zara insisted as she sat her project aside and pointed to an empty chair. "Relax and tell me about yourself."

Daisy flashed a quick smile as she took the seat offered to her by Tane. "Thank you Captain." Daisy stopped and corrected herself. "Thank you Tane. Sorry, my last duty station was with the Diplomatic Corp and rather formal." Daisy explained.

Daisy stopped talking and looked at the floor. She was organizing her thoughts. She looked back up at Tane and smiled. "I'm from Korcyria III. It's a small backwater research world and I would be surprised if you or any body else on the ship has ever heard of it. I requested the Marine branch because I wanted to do something different. I know that it sounds kind of odd but when your from a world that does a lot of research and development science can get kind of tedious." Daisy told Tane.

"It's why I didn't become one myself... Trill homeworld is big in science too," Zara added.

A smile crossed Daisy's lips after Zara's comments. She loosened a little bit.

"My first assignment was on the USS Golconda. The ship was attacked by a faction of zealots and was so damaged from the attack it had to back to the shipyards." Daisy explained.

"My next assignment was with the 11th Special Service Marines. We were tasked with the destruction of the same group of zealots. Saw a decent amount of action. We finally destroyed the faction." Daisy told her Captain.

"After that I was assigned to the USS Hussar. We encountered a few couple of actions with pirates. After the Hussar I was detached and assigned to the diplomatic duty. That was my last duty post until I was reassigned to the Roanoke. And to be honest, I'm glad to be back on a warship" Daisy finished.

"We see a lot of colony worlds where folks are pissed at us," Zara informed to her marine CO. "Your team will perform as support to the security department, as a result. Are you going to be fine with that?"

Daisy thought about the question for a second. "Yes. Security is our duty. We're not always going to be popular."

"We aren't popular as a whole, on this crew. But we're good at what we do. And with your large platoon, we'll be even better prepared for some of the more hostile planets we get to," Zara informed. "Size of your unit and all, I would probably not expect a promotion for a while, sadly."

"I was only promoted to Captain four months ago. I'm not due for a promotion for at least three years. Besides, it doesn't matter what rank you are. It matters what your job is. I was a newly promoted Captain in my last post and I was miserable." Daisy told Zara.

"Well if you're miserable here, know you'll not be the only one, Kid," Zara promised.

"I'm actually lucky to still be in Star Fleet." Daisy sheepishly admitted. "If it wasn't for this assignment I would be an unemployed civilian."

"Let's hope you continued to be around for a long time then," Zara smiled. The eagerness of Daisy was infectious.

"Thank you Tane." Daisy replied with a smile. "I look forward to going out into space with you and the rest of the crew."

"Go get your roster settled," Tane dismissed the girl with a polite wave of the hand.

Daisy was about to salute Tane but remembered her Captain's casual regard to military customs. Instead, she gave a quick bow and left.
